  • "Fantastic cottage."

Great location. Really appreciated the coffee and prosecco. Everything was five star. Worth a line item in the guide book about where to recycle glass... Thanks for stay.

  • "36 Sandend is a lovely well appointed holiday home."

It has everything you could possibly need. There is a folder providing operating instructions for all appliances. The furniture and furnishings are top class and the beds are very comfortable. It is situated in a lovely village with a lovely beach. Surf lessons are available. The whole of the Aberdeenshire coast in this area is lovely with many traditional fishing villages to visit. Also many golf courses to take advantage of. A great holiday.

  • "We really enjoyed the stay."

With 6 of us the small capacity for hot water was a bit of a nuisance but we just had to work around it. We were glad of the information in the folder about this and we just adjusted when we had showers. One of our party fell quite badly on the stairs as they are very slippy as well as being small with the age of the property. Maybe a hand rail at the bottom on both sides would help. Otherwise, we noticed there isn’t much privacy when using the bathroom with people in the kitchen. Perhaps an alternative door would create a sound barrier there. We would like to have been able to open ground floor windows for air flow but there were no window keys which we presumed was for security. The battery on the Velux controller in the kitchen ran out twice. We had our own compatible charger but others may not. If the window was left open when the battery went that could be problematic. Overall we thought the cottage was lovely and the design made the most of the space. We would definitely recommend it and visit again.

  • "Wonderful cottage that is thoughtfully and well designed and great family accommodation."

Owner was super helpful and nice touches like milk etc plus a nice bottle of Prosecco to toast the holiday. The property couldn’t be better placed with many days we didn’t leave Sandend at all. Outside furniture was great with a few breakfasts and lunches outside.

Such a clever use of space inside and lovely fittings. Highly recommend for a family trip

  • "Lovely place, both the house and the village."

Full of character and we loved wandering out to the beach/harbour/courtyard with our cup of tea. It’s quite compact because of the nature of the cottages - that’s it’s charm - but they’ve made the most of the space. Would be cosy with 6 people in it, especially if they were all adults.

  • "Stunning cottage in a fabulous location!"

We spent the week rockpooling, surfing, clifftop walking, dolphin/whale watching and forest exploring, but we could easily have filled another week. The only 'downside' (according to our children) was the lack of garden... But the beach and harbour practically on the doorstep more than made up for it. This has made the top spot in our family for holiday cottages to date. When we return to Aberdeenshire, we will definitely book here again!

  • "We has a fantastic time at this property."

A small hoover would have been more practical than a broom for keeping the house clean during the week, otherwise we found the property well equipped.

  • "We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage."

It is incredibly well equipped and the beds and bedding are luxurious. Everything has been thought of from the flasks for hot drinks to picnic basket for the beach so all Scottish weather catered for! The wood burner was lovely to cosy up beside after a day on the beach. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be back again soon.

  • "The cottage was absolutely gorgeous."

Finished to a very high standard and contained everything you could possibly need for cooking, picnics, board games/books for staying home and lots of storage in all rooms too. A lot of thought has gone into the finer touches and quality. Beds were very comfortable and the cottage was spacious and well-appointed for a family. Parking was not a problem at any time too (with kids we know that can sometimes be issue on holidays). Sandend itself is such a stunning place, absolutely beautiful. It has to be one of the lovelist places we have ever been. Perfect surfing for us and the children and amazing evening walks on the beach. Great place with various local paths for walks. Portsoy was only a 5 min drive to pick up any supplies from supermarket and also does the best ice cream! We really couldn't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back.

About the location

SANDEND

Portsoy 3 miles; Cullen 3 miles.

Sandend is a small historical village dating from the 1600’s and boasts a fabulous bay, golden sands and a harbour. Sandend is one of the smallest fishing villages on the north east coast, but due to its close proximity to the larger village of Portsoy and town of Cullen, means that it benefits from the excellent facilities nearby, whilst retaining a quieter and more peaceful ambience. Whilst there are no shops and pubs within Sandend itself, it does boast a fabulous smokery meaning there is no shortage of fresh fish, plus at the east end of Sandend Bay you can enjoy whisky sampling at Glenglassaugh Distillery. Sandend is perfectly located for visiting the many pretty fishing villages scattered along the north east coast, all of which have their own history and excellent local services. The area also offers opportunities for golfing, fishing, sailing, surfing, cycling, birdwatching and beach walking. Whatever the weather the scenery in this part of Scotland is stunning.
