The Chickens Nest is a charming shepherd's hut including a secluded location on the outskirts of New Deer, Aberdeenshire.

Enjoying panoramic views of the Deer Valley's countryside with the village of New Deer in the horizon, The Chickens Nest is the perfect rural escape for a couple.

A sought-after off-road parking space greets you on arrival, along with a spacious front lawn that hosts outdoor seating for you to unwind on in front of the stunning vista.

The pretty, open-plan studio is a welcoming space and contains all you need.

Progress through to the galley kitchenette and rustle up a romantic meal for two on the hob and microwave, to be enjoyed at the neighbouring dining table with your loved one.

After a day of walking, the armchair is the perfect resting spot; sit down with a steaming mug of hot chocolate as you watch the sun begin to set over the rolling hills.

The shower room isn't far and is a delightfully contemporary space with a handy walk-in shower.

After washing the day off, make your way over to the lovely double bed as you snuggle up with your partner and savour a well-deserved rest.

The town of New Deer is less than a mile away and hosts a small selection of pubs and eateries, along with a convenience store that is stocked with your essentials.

There is plenty to do without having to travel far, the local area boasts the gothic ruins of the 16th century Brucklay Castle and the breathtaking Deer Abbey to explore, along with the fantastic Forest of Deer Walk to embark on, that takes you through woodlands of Louden and Drinnie.

Travel a little further to the town of Turiff and enjoy a game of putty at the local golf club, before touring the 11th century Delhgatie Castle and stopping for a bite to eat at its on-site tearoom.

Enjoy a taste of Aberdeenshire's coast and venture to Peterhead with its fascinating Arbuthnot and Peterhead Prison museums, the vast Lord Catto Recreation Ground and the renowned Peterhead Trail to walk or cycle along.

Explore more of the coast and visit Fraserburgh and Aberdeen for a wealth of seaside activities, or venture further inland to find the friendly towns of Huntly and Keith.

Aberdeenshire is additionally known for being the home of glorious castle, be sure to explore the ones close-by to the hut, including: Fyvie Castle, Castle Fraser and Drum Castle.

The Aberdeenshire village of New Deer is situated in the valley of Deer in North East Scotland. The village is home to a number of amenities including a shop, a pub, butchers, seasonal café, doctors, Post Office, a delicatessen and a church. Twelve miles away is the small town of Turriff, which is situated on the bend of the River Deveron and is surrounded by lovely countryside. Turriff itself is a thriving community with a shopping centre and good services, including a swimming pool and sports centre, plus two miles from the town is Delgatiie Castle, which is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland. The Glendronach Distillery and visitors centre, one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries is close by, so why not take a guided tour and sample a wee dram!
