  • "The Old Smiddy Cottage was beautifully decorated and absolutely spotless!"

    Everything was in pristine condition and the kitchen was the best equipped of any holiday cottage we have ever let. The welcome package was lovely and generous, including a bottle of wine and lots of wood for the stove. The owners, Jane and Richard, were very helpful and responsive. For walkers, there are a number of tracks right out the front door as well as many more a short drive away. The village of Tomintoul provides a bucolic, secluded location to get away from it all.

  • "Cottage was beautiful!"

    Very well equipped with plenty of crockery, towels etc and a great welcome pack. Cottage was very cosy and welcoming. Location is perfect for the village, walks and roads if wanting to go further afield. We would highly recommend and will definitely book again.

  • "Gorgeous cottage which is cosy, warm, comfortable, beautifully decorated and very well equiped."

    The shower could be a little warmer, but the alternative bath water is sufficiently warm. In close proximity to the Lecht Ski centre and various other outdoor activities. We had a wonderful time there.

The property

Resting in the heart of the pretty village of Tomintoul, towards the north of the Cairngorms National Park, in Scotland.

Internally, the cottage has been renovated by the owners to provide light and welcoming accommodation for friends or families looking to explore this picturesque region.

It was formerly the old Smiddy and the contents of the Blacksmith Cottage can be found in the local museum.

Discover a delightful sitting room with a range of contemporary furnishings to relax and unwind of an evening, with a wood burning stove to keep you warm during those chillier evenings.

Walk through to the open-plan kitchen, which has a wonderful set of contemporary fitted units and plenty of worktop space for preparing your meals, with appliances of the highest order, on-hand to help you cook up a storm for your loved ones.
