  • "Stayed at so many rentals over the years but the friendliness, consideration, warmth and welcoming feeling that Jane has provided has made this entire experience stand out above all others."

The facilities and feel of the whole place has actually made us extend our week into two weeks and we are still here because of how stunning everything is here. The Pod is wonderful and the jacuzzi is an experience like no other. It’s warm and comfortable. The beds are amazing and the furniture is cozy and comfortable too. The little touches that Jane provided just excel her kindness into another realm. We are coming back here again and again. Thank you Jane for a totally epic experience

We have stayed in a few Sykes places and this is the best. It is a gem, middle of nowhere and first class accommodation. Jane was so helpful, left loads of lovely food etc for our arrival. The place has all the modern helpful gadgets you could think of. The hot tub had a swimming jet so you could either relax or do some “lengths” against the jet. The TVs are great, the bed is very comfortable and the wet room has everything. You won’t be disappointed!

Hi Esther thank you so much for the super review. We are really delighted you had a brilliant time at Moss of Bourach and so pleased you had a notable stay and willing to share your find with others! The pod is kitted out with all kinds of added gizmos that aren't listed so you get more than you expect. It's outstandingly clean and modern and yet retains a romantic feel. The hot tub is superb!! The host Jane is fantastic, she goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and deserves real credit. The pod is ideally situated for stunning views, with brilliant pubs, cafes and little shops only 2 miles away in the village. From minute one, I described this place as 'a little piece of heaven' and we'll certainly be back.

We love your description of a “little piece of heaven “and great review. Thank you. It was really special having you stay for your honeymoon and we really look forward to seeing you perhaps on anniversary’s to come or romantic getaways and breaks! We are really pleased you managed to make the most of the tech designed to make you have a restful and effortless stay as well as the views and local dining experiences in our little Speyside village of Aberlour just a few minutes drive away. The immediate surroundings and the mountain views meant our breakfasts lasted hours as we just soaked up the beautiful atmosphere of the place (one morning we woke up to a deer on the lawn munching on the flower beds!). The accommodation was spacious and spotless, with everything we needed (and plenty of things we never realised we needed!). It was the perfect base for trips to the Moray Coast to the North and the Cairngorms to the South. Not forgetting it is located near the Spey in the heart of whisky territory with distilleries seemingly round every corner.

Thank you for your lovely review and helpful description of your stay. It was a pleasure having you to stay and the deer are still munching away but hopefully more on the fallen crab apples ! The autumnal colours and light are really coming to the fore now to add to the scene too. Great meeting you both and thank you again . Property Owner

The host Jane and her family were incredibly accommodating going above and beyond any expectations to make sure we had everything we needed for ourselves and our 4 month old. Cannot praise them enough. The pod itself had everything we needed and on top of that a load of gizmos and treats that made the stay even more enjoyable, from the massage beds to the Japanese toilet to the organic soap. The highlight for us was the hot tub/swim spa which I probably spent far too much time in. Its huge. The views as well. Was hoping for some stargazing but the weather wasn't permitting, though this didn't detract from the gorgeous sunset or views. Wishing Jane and family all the best and will definitely be back.

  • "Jane was a wonderful host; she was there to welcome us even though we were running late."

The welcome saw us being introduced to our very clean and massive pod for our stay. Jane explained how to use everything and what was required. We absolutely recommend a long stay here. Wish we could have stayed longer than the two days. Smart toilet seat - google Japanese toilet - bed that massages you to sleep; turns itself off. Milk, cream buns and Prosecco in the fridge along with fresh bread and local biscuits from Walkers biscuit factory just down the road. A grand boxed selection of fruit teas and coffee pods for the machine Clean and compact. Really no need to take an oven glove or extras like Sykes recommended as were not required. I did needed to buy sauce at the local shops - 5 minute drive or there about - for our fry up but I bet you even as I type Jane is on the case. It was a home from home experience. Then the amazing swimming pool come hot tub! This was main reason I chose Jane’s retreat but it was so much more than we expected. For folk that need swim training take a holiday here; you can thank me later! The wet room is large and so easy to use before and after the hot tub. Moss of Bourach is about 1/2 mile from Ben Rinnes Distillery and from the public carpark there you can join a path so you can walk up Ben Rinnes. Jane has a booklet includes information regarding the workings of equipment and has taken her time to make sure there is local info and safety regs sorted in her booklet. With the views and sunsets this is a place we will return to, with its wonderful host too. Thank you Jane. Your hard work will we are sure will pay off - oh we even enjoyed our stomp through the bog woods right next door!

It really is the most wonderful space to relax - the beautifully warm swim spa is the icing on the cake for me and we used it every evening (even in the -5 temperatures and snow!). It was blissful to me as someone with a bad back and hip, especially after very full and hectic days it really soothed my aching muscles! The pod itself is fabulous; from the cleanliness of the whole pod to the Alexa controlled lights - my particular favourite was the instant hot water for a cuppa. Jane, the owner is just the perfect balance of being on hand to help you with anything you need to know, to offering the right amount of privacy to allow you to get on with the task of relaxing and enjoying your holiday. I cannot fault this place in any aspect. We hope to return as there must be a whisky distillery that we didn't visit and that swim spa has me written all over it! Thanks Jane for a wonderful holiday!

Thank you for your stay and great feedback. Delighted you had a super time and fully benefitted from our swim spa and all the facilities we have to help you relax and enjoy a great holiday. Love to see you back as you work through the plethora of distilleries! Property Owner

We’ve not had a bad holiday yet but we have to say this is a stand out experience. We’ve never had such a great welcome before, being diligently shown around the property by the owner Jane who explained all the amazing equipment including Alexa controlled lights and heating and the huge hot tub/pool. We used it every night even in the rain as it covered within the barn which doesn’t obscure your view outside. Jane provided us with a lovely local lemon drizzle cake, an ice cold bottle of Prosecco and a fresh baked loaf amongst other things in the welcome pack. She even topped us up with coffee machine pods. During our stay we were afforded complete privacy and Jane was always on hand for any advice about the property and local area. We normally travel in a group of four to six family or friends but this was a rare excursion as a couple for which this property and local area was ideal. Would highly recommend for couples and we certainly look forward to visiting again as a couple. Well done Jane and thanks for a fantastic holiday. Karen & John.

  • "Really feel the online information does not do this property justice."

Having said that, the added extras - such as boiling water tap and Japanese toilet - were additional welcome surprises. The starter pack of local produce - including fresh bakers bread and the best carrot cake ever tasted (sadly the local baker had none left when we visited to buy some on our departure day), along with Walkers shortbread etc etc - was most appreciated after an 8hr journey due to road closures, the satnav apparently losing signal going through the Cairngorms and other factors. Hope to book soon to return next year. Jane has truly, in our opinion, found her vocation in life, she is the best host balancing interaction with privacy. The family pets were an added bonus for us (although kept at distance if disliked), and the multiple deer sightings within the grounds and on approach were amazing. The pool just speaks for itself - brilliant to have our own personal pool truly at our disposal for that week. It was all we hoped it would be and more! Tranquil, secluded surroundings made for a very relaxing week!

Thanks for your super comments Lorraine and we are delighted you had a brilliant stay. A number of guests have said their stay was even better than anticipated from the site as you have mentioned which is lovely to hear. You certainly had an unanticipated epic journey getting to us and hope the return was far shorter! The deer are still being quite bold! The pool as you point out speaks for itself and we are delighted that it is available for the sole use whenever desired by the guest. We would love to see you again when possible. Property Owner

The 'goodies' that were in the unit upon arrival were truly lovely, fresh scones, homemade jam's, clotted cream, butter, fresh bread and even a bottle of Prosecco, beautiful locally made soaps and honey.
