  • "Outstanding cottage- had an amazing Christmas there."

Cottage spotless and decorated lovely for Christmas. Was amazing sitting in the hot tub after a long walk watching the snow fall. Lots of lovely surrounding walks and cottage very child and dog friendly. Owners very helpful, excellent communication and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Was lovely to stay in the winter but will definitely go back in the summer as there are excellent mountain bike trails nearby.

Hi Tracey, that you for your wonderful feedback. Thank you for leaving the house tidy and being so responsive to my messages. Hope you and family have a Happy Hogmanay. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Berg Cottage, it’s a beautiful property."

There were so many details that were very high end: the anti mist mirror, the lights in the wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom and the balconies upstairs are outstanding. We spent a night in the living room with the balconies open and the fire on whilst we played board games, it was lovely. My son adored the hot tub, it’s slabbed right up to the hot tub so no tricky walks to get there, or back! Towels, slippers and dressing gowns provided were all lovely. The kitchen was very well stocked and felt like a home away from home. We got a Tesco delivery when we arrived, they delivered directly to the utility room door which was ideal. We visited during Storm Babet and Tomintoul was getting very high winds so we didn’t have much of an opportunity to explore the village itself. I did walk through with the dog when I arrived and it was lovely and quiet. There were dog beds and bowls provided which was another lovely touch. Thank you!

Dear Claire, thank you for the effort in writing such a detailed review, and sorry your stay coincided with Storm Babet. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely lovely, clean cozy and most important comfortable beds."

The garden was a really good size however my dog did manage to jump the slate wall at the bottom luckily she went straight to my partner. The windows in livingroom are lovely touch to have open. I did try to open one but not fully and it decided to close down on me. I would most certain still return as these are only little things so long as my dog didnt annoy the neighbours too much, still lots to see in the area and surroundings. Thank you Estie

Thank you Nickola for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the cottage. The upstairs windows stay open if you give them a little pump up and down a few times, it is a feature of the design. The House instructions/guide do detail how they operate. Hope to welcome another booking from you in the future. Regards ,Estie. Property Owner

It was perfect, cottage had everything, you could see the milky way, whilst sitting in the hot tub. Great place to use as a base to travel around. Very peaceful. Only thing that was missing was our dog, who had passed just before we went. Great enclosed garden for dogs.its right in the main street, only a 5 minute walk to the shops and pubs. I would highly recommend.

It was a quick walk to town. It was clean and welcoming. The only thing I would suggest would be a rubber mat in the shower in the upstairs shower, It was slippery. Thanks again. Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, thanks for the feedback. The rubber mat should be in the upstairs bathroom. I will ensure it is put out more accessibly in future. Property Owner

The house is stunning!! Clean and welcoming with addition of dressing gown and Slippers. Hot tub was great but could benefit from a cover although due to placement, do not know how that would be possible. Fantastic views and local walks to explore the area. Only one issue with ensuite shower that was fixed in a matter of hours without any disruption to our holiday. Hosts were fantastic when we called them and quickly sorted out the issue. Would return in a minute, never returned from a week away so relaxed. Thank you for this lovely haven xxx

A wonderful base, well equipped, comfortable and very clean. The hot tub, with beautiful views, was an added bonus. Thank you for being dog friendly (if you have a small dog, you may wish to take a long line as our mini schnauzer could have got through the gap in the gate). Tomintoul is an excellent base for a holiday with a choice of places for food, The Whisky Shop and some good walks close by. I would highly recommend a stay at Berg Cottage. Communication with the the host was excellent.

  • "This was an amazing find."

Loved every minute of our stay here. The cottage is well equipped, tidy, clean and warm. Our dog loved the garden and was safe and secure, so we could happily leave him out there on his own, however, having the patio doors leading straight to the back of the property meant we could keep an eye on him too. We felt the location was perfect for us and the driving to activities planned for the day meant we could enjoy the beautiful scenery and experience the remoteness of the area. After a long day in the mountains, returning to Berg Cottage was the icing on the cake. It's peaceful, relaxing location, along with a dip in the hot tub, allowed us to refresh for the following day. We would definitely return to this cottage and can not fault it at all.

  • "The property was sufficient for us but a larger sofa, maybe a corner unit upstairs?"

The bed settee isn't exactly comfortable to sit on for prolonged periods & chairs don't really accommodate adults & at full capacity the seating is inadequate. An awning/covering of some sort over the hottub would have been ideal as weather conditions/rain stopped us using it as often as we would have liked. All in all the cottage was good but as the owners have control of the heating remotely it got a bit uncomfortable at times & whilst I u derstand the convenience it did affect our comfort. The washing & cooking facilities were excellent. The beds were comfortable but unfortunately my partner being over 6ft, the master bedroom caused him some knocks to the head when using the facilities during the night. Estie was great & kept us appraised of WiFi problems & solutions etc Roger sorted out the hottub as soon as was reasonably possible Our dog loved the big garden & the proximity to the visitor centre & ev charging was great

Thank you Karen for the feedback. This booking was made at 9pm during a storm, with snowy road closed conditions and a power cut for IMMEDIATE entry due to being virtually stranded. We wanted to help for safety and moral reasons, so agreed. I endured an unplanned 12hr day to travel first thing next morning and set things up so it is deeply disappointing that these aspects are not mentioned and the review quite poor. To clarify, guests do have control over heating for temperature. There are booklets/cards in the house and the house manual explains guests can choose to lower or raise each room by up to 5degrees either way. If there is any issue, we always ask guests to contact us so it is disappointing to now hear the heating was uncomfortable. Property Owner

Very comfortable and had an amazing view out the back. Peaceful location. Nearby facilities (restaurants, pubs) had friendly staff and the food was good. The hot tub was lovely (perhaps it could be covered for bad weather, colder weather). We would definitely like to visit again. Enjoyed being in the sitting room upstairs with the open window/balcony - it was like bringing the outdoors in! The cottage wifi signal was poor at times and also there was no TV ariel.

The cottage has everything you need for a short break. The beds in this cottage are also really comfy which is normally unusual for a holiday let. Changes I would make are: putting a tv in the kitchen dining and a slightly bigger sofa. We spent most of our time in this room when we were not out sightseeing.

  • "We had a fabulous time at Berg Cottage."

It was relaxed and quiet with spectacular views from the house, from the walks around the friendly village of Tomintoul and the drives around the Cairngorms National Park. Tomintoul is an excellent location to explore the Cairngorms and the Moray Coast, we were never short of things to do and see. Berg Cottage itself had everything we needed for the week. The chocolates on the pillows upon our arrival and the dog biscuits for our collie was very welcoming and we felt at home straight away. Another lovely touch was the dressing gowns and slippers which made us all feel special! The back of the house has amazing windows that open up dormer style for the beautiful views over the countryside, sounds of bleating lambs, birdsong. The cottage is walking distance to shops and cafes; there is an adventure play park close by, bird watching areas and then back to a hot tub to relax in after a busy day of walking/exploring. We wish we'd have stayed another week and would love to come back soon, very soon!
