    Lovely cosy cottage with everything you could need for luxury stay vacation lovley open fire excellent internet connection also a prime location with the local pub meters away with great food very friendly and welcoming a local shop also meters away that stock absolutely everything you could with country goodies also to make your stay special the cottage itself is of high standered warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need the kitchen facilities were impeccable with large dishwasher and a lovely touches like the coffee machine and more everything was spotlessly clean lastly the owner of this cottage is a lovley gentleman that will bend over backwards to make sure your stay is perfect very transparent and welcoming thank you for such a great stay we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the children enjoyed castle acre as much as it had to offer for us as much as it did for them running around enjoying the great outdoors with a cosy night in resting by the fire

The property

Settled in the heart of the historic village of Castle Acre, amongst the rolling countryside of west Norfolk, rests this contemporary two-bedroom holiday home, Heron Cottage.

Idyllically positioned alongside the 12th-century remains of one of the original Bailey Gate structures, whilst boasting a homely and inviting interior, Heron Cottage makes an excellent base for a small family seeking an adventure to Norfolk.

Park up in the off-road parking space provided in the communal car park at the rear of this lovely abode before climbing a handful of stone steps and discarding of any coats and shoes as you step inside your new home-from-home to begin your staycation.

A long journey calls for rest, so follow the corridor through to the snug sitting room, where you can look forward to flicking on the TV and cuddling up amongst the crackle of the woodburning stove.

When stomachs start to rumble, move through the property to discover the open-plan kitchen/diner, beautifully appointed with a bright and airy decor and equipped with a fabulous range of amenities.

Gather together with your loved ones to share bottle of wine at the dining table as the designated chef utilises the electric oven and hob to prepare a range of tasty dishes before heading outdoors to dine alfresco in the peaceful setting of your private courtyard; a lovely spot to soak in the last of the evening sun.

As the day draws to night, retreat indoors and relish a refreshing rinse under the shower head before retiring to one of two well-presented bedrooms, with the choice between a double and a twin, each framing spectacular views of the heritage architecture of the Norman flint-built Bailey Gate.

Swaffham 5 miles; King's Lynn 20 miles.

A large west Norfolk conservation village with pretty red brick and flint faced cottages, Castle Acre is set within rural landscape and boasts an historical past. The village retains the ruins of a Norman castle with earthworks, the beautiful church of St James and the ruins of a Cluniac Priory. The main entrance into this attractive village is through Bailey Gate, a 13th Century flint gateway, under which pilgrims have passed for hundreds of years on their way to the shrine at Little Walsingham, a pilgrimage which still takes place today. There is a large village green surrounded by lime trees, cottages, traditional tea rooms, two public houses serving meals and further along the road, a village store. The local market town of Swaffham, five miles away, offers shops, a Saturday market with auction and Eco Tec centre. King's Lynn, 20 miles away, has a shopping centre, restaurants, a Tuesday market, theatre, cinema, train station and out of town shopping facilities.
