We were very happy with our stay at Holkham Arms. The property was as we expected from the brochure, the furnishings and decor were as expected and the beds very comfy and rooms were warm despite the cold wind outside. The property was convenient for visiting the attractions in the Norfolk area. Unfortunately the weather we experienced was very wet but we were able to find interesting towns and visit some National Trust properties.( It would be wise to check that properties are open when the weather is bad). We were unable to visit some of Oxburgh Hall due to repairs being carried out,but we were able to visit the chapel and listen to a detailed and interesting talk by a member of staff instead. This was well worth the effort! We enjoyed the rise on the North Norfolk Railway, spent a browse around the interesting shops and buildings in Sheringham and explored some of the Norfolk towns of Dereham, Fakenham and Wymondham where we walked around in some welcome sunshine. We found a very pleasant fish and chip shop in Cromer and enjoyed a walk along the sea front enjoying another day of sunshine. A special mention must be made to the lovely garden and surrounding scenery viewed from the upstairs of the house, we were woken to the sound of bird song and must imagine that the view must be very special when the spring weather truly appears. In summing up we would recommend this property to others. The one negative aspect was that we were not given a phone number for the property by Sykes Cottages before our visit. As we have rented many properies in the past, we assumed that it was considered unecessary as some holiday letting companies leave a key and directions for guests. The directions on our paperwork were easy to follow, but why was there no phone number from Sykes? It would have been nice to let the owner know our expected time of arrival. *****Sykes Response*** Many thanks for your feedback, we provide an owner telephone number when the property does not have a key code, generally as some of our owners are not close to the properties. We are always happy to share information if requested. Once again thank you
