  • "First time and definitely not the last at the fabulous Mermaids Purse."

Spotlessly clean, quiet, dog friendly and the beach a short walk away was just what we where looking for and we weren’t disappointed. We had a lovely relaxing time with everything we needed in the property. There were only two of us and our dog but the property was well equipped for larger family’s with three bedrooms and a lovely dining area. We were looking to stay near the beach which was only a few minutes walk away. Lovely and quiet for the time of year but again just what we wanted. A lovely touch was the homemade shortbread and the doggy treat bones, tea, coffee and milk on our arrival. We did make use of the log burner while we were there which was great. To sum up a fabulous property with everything a couple or family needs and we would not hesitate to highly recommend it.

The bungalow was spotless and everything you need for a holiday stay, including the extras of a Christmas tree, homemade mince pies, milk and a bottle of prosecco. The location is perfect for walks on the beach with our two dogs. There is a supermarket near by (10mins). The Norfolk Broads and plenty of other beaches including the the seal viewing beach are on your doorstep. We have already booked again, thank you Tim and Bridget.

  • "We absolutely loved staying at Mermaids Purse."

Although it was October and it rained at some point every day due to storm Babet, it was very mild and we had daily walks to Happisburgh and Sea Palling along the lovely empty beachy, which was literally about a minutes walk away. Our dog loved the long walks too, and when we got back to Mermaids Purse, we sat in the kitchen area with our feet up on the foot stool in front of the log burner.....we didn't use the living room once. We just connected to the wifi and either watched things on our phones or read some of the books about the history of the area, which were in the dining area. The homemade shortbread from Bridget & Tim was a lovely touch too. Such a cozy bungalow with everything we needed, even a trunk with dog toys, a dog blanket and a dog bed under the stairs. An absolutely perfect October holiday, we're already thinking of going back and we only got home a week ago.

Hi Sheryl, Thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful review after your recent stay at Mermaids purse. The house is lovely and comfortable and well equipped - thank you to the owners for all the nice touches. Eccles on Sea is quiet but that suits us and is how we like it - dogs are allowed on the beach all year around and it is a nice walk along the beach to Happisburgh one way and Sea Pallin the other. Really enjoyed our stay and the weather was glorious which is always a bonus. Thank you.

The biscuits & beverages were a welcome on our arrival & Joe (our Labrador) totally enjoyed the beach & swimming in the sea. We only went out in the car twice to Bacton Woods which is owned by the forestry commission and is a must to visit if you have your dog with you. We just wanted a week to chill and we were able to do that we didn’t really want to leave.

The property is beautiful and the garden is ideal for pets and humans. A 200 yard walk to a glorious quiet sandy beach. The location is very quiet, which is what we wanted but in the perfect location to explore north Norfolk. The property was warm, clean and cozy with all the utilities you need to cook up a feast and a lovely sitting room to relax in after the end of a long day. Upstairs is very modern and stylish, while downstairs is quirky and cozy. Sitting at the dining table in the mornings with the sun shining though the conservatory was beautiful. Would love to stay again.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent stay at Mermaid's Purse. We are pleased you enjoyed your welcome pack on arrival and found the cottage clean. • "Very beautiful bungalow, all rooms inside are top quality especially the room upstairs, it’s out of this world, stunning, first class, the log/fuel burner in kitchen was welcoming it heated the whole room, the furniture in the lounge/sofa was a little uncomfortable due to the recliners we’re not working I think they have been abused, they never stayed up, to be able to put your legs up, that’s a shame."

Otherwise a lovely stay in mermaids purse, owners very helpful n willing to help out, only downside was the road to property there were really huge pot holes, ok for a 4x4 but other cars you need to be careful, with all I’ve said we would love to go back for more holidays, the beaches are lovely & very near to walk and explore ,

Thank you for taking the time to review your holiday at Mermaid's Purse. We are so pleased you found the upstairs bedroom out of this world! We agree the woodburner, when used, warms up the whole house, making it lovely and cozy. Regarding the lounge sofas, we've had a look and tested out all the recliners and can confirm they are all working well now. But thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry you found a few pot holes in the road, in the description it does state the road is unmade, pot holes can sometimes form after heavy rain, but we have a volunteer road crew who aim to fill in the pot holes on a regular basis, we hope this helps. We have stayed in lots of dog friendly holiday homes all over the country for years & this is ‘simply the best’. All the accessories you could need, perfect location & loads of room. The homemade shortbread is totally yummylicious & so very thoughtful, along with the other goodies which had been left. Just a few minutes walk to the perfect sandy beach, which us & our dog loved, think he tried to dig to Australia every day!! There is so much to see & do in Norfolk, loads of dog friendly beaches so you don’t feel isolated & all so close to where you are. Why other clients moaned about the roads & the area, I just don’t know. This is a remote place which has unadopted roads, little lanes really. When we were there they had obviously just been redone & yes you had to drive slowly because the stones might kick up. We have stayed at some homes where the roads could damage the bottom of your car, they were so bad, so certainly no complaints from us. The owners certainly know what they are doing to cater for your every need & for me the property being so superbly clean, is an absolute must. Would recommend this property to everyone, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you to the owners, we are very happy.
