Clean, comfy, well equipped. Handy for coastal visits and inland areas. Nice walks nearby, Dersingham Bog particularly nice. Comments on other reviews about the parking are unfounded.

  • "The cottage has been renovated to a high standard and met all our needs."

It is very comfortable and homely. Everything that you need is provided to ensure you have a lovely stay. It is very well situated being central to most places in the area and is handy for local bus services.. There have been comments in past reviews regarding car access. We had no problem adapting to the access lane but can see that some drivers may find it awkward. Would we return ? Definitely !

  • "What a fabulous cottage."

Meggie's is perfectly maintained and presented and makes a great base for exploring North West Norfolk. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped and there has been a high spec bathroom installed on the ground floor. Meanwhile upstairs the two bedrooms are generously sized for a quite small unassuming house. The beds are really comfortable and made up with good quality bedlinen. The owners are keen to ensure you have everything you need and willingly offer advice on local attractions, shops and catering. I have stayed at three Sykes properties for staycations in 2021 and I would rate Meggie's cottage as the best and look forward to booking again in the future

  • "It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in."

Very clean and comfortable. Close to many attractions for days out. The cottage was set in a very unusual location, it took a couple of days to fathom out the surrounding area, but very interesting and unique. Local pub The Coach & Horses was excellent, great food, good selection of Ales and the staff chatted to us as if we had known them for years.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Meggie's Cottage."

It was spotlessly clean and had everything you need. We were out and about most of the time and it was lovely to come back to the cottage and relax after a busy day. There is a supermarket nearby where you can buy any essentials. We walked to the local pub, had a meal and watched the football there. Loved Hunstanton and had a lovely day on the beach there. Lots to see and do.

  • "A lovely cottage in a great location with two local supermarkets a short walk away."

It was spotlessly clean, with extremely comfortable beds, quality bed linen and large airy bedrooms. The walk in shower was great and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need on holiday. The large garden and patio furniture was very pleasant especially in the hot weather we had during our stay. The buses to Kings Lynn and Hunstanton stop at the end of the road, so great to leave the car behind. Other reviews have mentioned the access to the cottage and the parking and although the access would be tight for a large car, two of the neighbours told that we could reverse onto their driveways, so it wasn't a problem. I would definitely recommend Meggie's Cottage if you want a lovely quiet get away in Norfolk.

  • "The cottage was warm and fairly well equipped."

It was very clean and beautifully furnished. However it should be made clear, especially to older people, that access to the cottage by car can be difficult and if anyone else parks in the lane you almost need to have a certificate in advanced motoring. To make matters worse the next door neighbour objects to anyone trying to reverse on her drive. Consequently, we did not go out in the evening, it was bad enough trying to reverse it daylight let alone the dark.

  • "We arrived on a very wet and stormy day but what a wonderful surprise when we entered the cottage."

warm, clean and decorated to a very high standard. The location is perfect for visiting RSPB sites around the area as well Sandringham estate which is only one and half miles away. Kings Lynn is also worth a visit and if you like a nice walk along the prom Heacham to Hunstanton .is highly recommended . Don't be put off by the fact that number 8 is at the end of a row of cottages and you may have to reverse onto the road but we found it was no problem with plenty of room to manoeuvre .

  • "It's a very tricky cottage to access."

..having to manoeuvre past 4 cottages with Meggie's cottage at the end. There's very limited room to turn a larger vehicle on Meggie's driveway resulting in having to reverse down a narrow lane, often with other vehicles parked on the lane.

  • "The cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean."

The facilities were high quality and well kept. In particular the beds were very comfortable and we slept well. We rent holiday cottages frequently and Meggie's cottage is one of the best

  • "The parking was an issue because on more than 1 occasion there was parking on the access drive to the property which made it very difficult to drive in off the road."

It is also difficult to turn a car around as there is not enough room outside the cottage to do this. You either have to drive in and reverse out onto the main road or vice versa. Otherwise it was an excellent cottage.

Thank you for your feedback. Your comments have been taken on board and we will be sure to provide this to the owner. We hope to hear from you again! Kind Regards, Property Owner

  • "This cottage is even better than the photos suggest."

We’ve stayed in over 20 different self-catering places and this is right up there amongst the very best. It’s superbly refurbished, making it a dream to stay in. Every tiny detail has been thought about. Lovely comfortable settees, easy to use and modern kitchen equipment, simple to use shower and heating system, very comfortable bed and walk-in wardrobe. There’s also parking just outside. Downstairs is open plan with stylish quarry tile flooring and neat touches of decor, while upstairs there's smart wood-style flooring and colourful, easy-to-operate blinds. All-in-all the cottage made the holiday so relaxing and enjoyable. It’s well located, too. The bus stop and convenience store are only a short walk away and if you’ve got the energy you can walk to Sandringham. We had a lovely week here, helped by the weather and the many delights that North Norfolk has on offer. Our week took us by bus to Wells-next-the-sea, a day out at Sandringham, a beach day at Brancaster and visits to Holt, Cley and Blakeney. The only tiny detail where it falls short perhaps is on authoritative local guide books and visitors experiences and hints on the best places to eat and drink and shop. The places that rocked our boat most were: the Rose & Crown pub and Beach Fish shop in Snettisham, Petals tea shop nearby, and our days at Sandringham, Brancaster beach and Wells (its’ beach, beach cafe and Staithe shopping street). The best coffee we had was at Artemis in Cley and Black Apollo, Holt - both were a real wow. And what was most disappointing? Leaving Meggie’s Cottage - we had such a terrific holiday.

About the location

Royal Sandringham 1.5 miles; Snettisham 3.0 miles; Hunstanton 7.6 miles.

Dersingham is one of the largest villages in the Borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. It is situated on the outskirts of the Royal Sandringham Estate with its impressive house, church and gardens which are open to the public, plus nearby are the plant farm, tea rooms and gift shop at Norfolk Lavender, England's premier lavender farm. Dersingham has many local amenities and is served by a Post Office, two supermarkets, a butcher’s shop, newsagents and takeaway outlets. The traditional Norfolk village of Snettisham is nearby characterized by the pretty golden brown houses known locally as "gingerbread houses" due to the colouring of the local iron-rich carr stone used in their construction. The RSPB reserves at Snettisham and Titchwell are within easy reach as is the North Norfolk Coast including the family-friendly seaside resort of Hunstanton, well worth a visit. An excellent base for touring North Norfolk and its many delights.
