  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday."

It is the perfect setting to get away and enjoy the peace and tranquility this facility offers. Acres of conservation yet 5 minutes walk from the local village. We took our two nervous dogs who couldn’t wait for their walk. The owner and family were friendly and helpful and the bungalow contained everything required for a home from home stay.

Beautiful surroundings and local facilities for eating and shopping etc. The family at the the farm could not have been more accommodating, they were great. And of course we had our dogs with us, so the enclosed garden was perfect and walks for the dogs round the lake and along the river were everything we needed. Thanks

  • "Dan was extremely friendly, and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone at the farm."

We found a bottle of wine and some shortbreads on the table when we arrived, which went down very well. The cottage was very comfortable, in a lovely quiet location close to but not overlooked by the owners' houses, and the farm itself was beautiful. My husband enjoyed fishing on the fishing pond, and I had some lovely walks in the woods and by the river. We saw a lot of wildlife on the farm and in the area, including deer, hares and a marsh harrier. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and will definitely be returning soon.

  • "We had a really wonderful week at Meadow View."

Stunning setting, a handy drive from a lot of historical villages and attractions. East Harling itself has a lovely pub called the Nags Head which we enjoyed 2 meals at and a beautiful paddling spot down by the bridge. Dan and his family made us extremely welcome from the get-go and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. It was also great being able to bring both our dogs, they enjoyed it very much too!

  • "Having realised how valuable reviews are i feel compelled to write a review for our holiday in this cabin."

The cabin itself was lovely. Kitchen was well equipped, bedroom was spacious and comfy bed and bathroom spacious and shower good. White settees were a worry in a dog friendly cottage but again comfortable and white tiled kitchen floor was also disastrous as no mop or bucket was available and yet instructions given to leave the cottage clean and as you find it! Also, sadly upon arriving we had to clean up 10 bags of..... left by the previous visiting dog (s)!!!!!! However all of the above wouldn't have been as disappointing as the instructions of keeping the dogs on lead.in the woods due to the recent release of grouse birds for the forthcoming "shoot". Also nowhere did the description of the cabin explain that a outside learning facility for special needs children was en route to the woods and therefore another reason that dogs couldn't be off lead and this was 50% of why we had chosen this particular cabin and it's surrounding facilities. The owner took great delight in driving his digger constantly round the cabin and to the dump store to one side of the cabin! All in all cabin was comfortable but for all the negative points we won't be returning.

  • "This was a wonderful lodge with everything we needed."

Dan the owner had lit the log burner for us so it was warm and cosy on arrival. The village of East Harling had everything we needed. Including a Spar shop, Butchers, Chemist, Fish and Chip shop. In the near by village of Attleborough you had several Supermarkets. Our dogs loved the garden and there were plenty of places to walk them. One word of caution there are an awful lot of deer roaming in the nearby forest and being that we have Sighthounds we needed to keep a careful eye on them. My husband went fishing caught 2 large Carp one being over 23pounds. Also a lot of silver fish it’s not the easiest of lakes to fish but a good challenge. We would highly recommend Meadow View and hope to return.

The chalet was an extremely comfortable place to return to after a tiring day. The hosts were always friendly and helpful and were happy to let us in when we arrived before 3.00pm. Our elderly dog loved the easy walks without going too far and she was very happy here. We would happily recommend Meadow View to anyone as it afforded so much to do but also allowed for some days of leisure. The owner had put the heating on ready for our arrival which was appreciated. In the instruction book in the cottage it said there was complimentary tea and coffee but the containers were empty. The kitchen would benefit from a couple of saucepans with lids. This is a very pleasant cottage for a relaxing stay.

  • "Firstly, I will start with a positive - the actual farm was very picturesque with beautiful woodlands to walk through, was also within walking distance to the village shops."

The cottage was very modern with everything you could ask for, as well as tastefully decorated. The family that run the farm are lovely and friendly. However, we found the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Kitchen cupboards had clearly been wiped down with either a dirty or greasy cloth, leaving smear marks all over the highly glossed units. Dusty with cobwebs and spiders everywhere - I understand it’s a working farm, but a quick flick round with the feather duster in the crevices would have been ample. Finally, again - I understand it’s a working farm - but the flies there are a real problem! By the sounds of it it’s an annual problem too, in which case, maybe provide magnetic netting in the doors and windows to possibly alleviate this issue. We couldn’t open windows or doors without there being an influx of flies literally bombarding the rooms! With the weather being quite nice, we found this very unfortunate as it was quite hot and stuffy inside. We were supplied with fly spray, swats and fly tape but had to ask for these. I would like reiterate that the family that live on the farm are very friendly and helpful.

Sykes you have done it again with this wonderful Norfolk retreat, we will most certainly return.

  • "The cottage was very clean and comfortable."

However there was a serious lack of cooking utensils...only 2 small saucepans and only one of those had a lid. Also the cooks knives were extremely blunt to the point that they were unusable (wouldn't cutter butter comes to mind). There was also a lack of instructions as to how to use the equipment and instructions about refuse collection. Having said all that, we would go back again, taking our own knives etc. we had a very relaxing week even though the weather could have been better, but unfortunately we cannot book that, can we.
