Owner had added lovely Christmas touches. Table was set for Christmas and a card from the owner. Everything was spotlessly clean

  • "The owner leaves a private number in the handbook at the cottage, so you can contact them if there are any issues."

We had a minor problem with what appeared to be a wasp nest that had started to form in the roof above the back bedroom. We contacted the owner, and pest control were there within 2 hours and had the problem resolved in 30mins. Excellent service for an unavoidable problem. The pressure of the shower can be hit and miss, but there is a tip on resolving this in the owners handbook. A minor issue. The cottage was great for us 4 and our 2 small dogs and there is a great walk adjacent to the village shop, just follow this side road that after 100m leads you to a public footpath through the farmers fields. The pub, which is a 50m walk, is very dog friendly, and we ate here 3 times. The locals were very friendly also. There are a number of restaurants within 5 miles and a local taxi service should you not want to drive. The weather was great for us, and we would highly recommend the beautiful beaches at Wells by the Sea and Holkham. Both a 25 min drive away. The Market town of Holt was also very nice, about 15min drive, with its farmers market on a Sunday. We also played a couple of fantastic golf courses at Hunstanton (40mins) and Royal Norwich ( 15mins). We used Barnes Binkcraft to rent a picnic boat for 4 hrs and this was effortless with booking , with instructions to drive the boat and parking on site was just 10 yards from your boat ! A great family day. We used the cottage as a base and travelled in a different direction each day, and it was perfect for our needs. I phoned Sykes cottages before we left, as we had a 4 hr drive, incase there was an issue when we got there, I wanted to make sure there would be someone on the other end of a phone just in case. The lady at Sykes gave me an out of hours number to alleviate any worries. We didn't need them though, key collection as instructed and everything was perfect from then on in. We will return. Many thanks

  • "Fully equipped kitchen, rooms very clean."

No problem parking in the street. One pub a very short walk down the road. Food OK. Apart from the pub and a small shop no other amenities nearby. The cottage is well placed for drives to the coast and small towns/villages inland.

  • "More spacious than it looked from the photo's."

Our initial concerns about on street parking proved unfounded. We frequently parked right outside the cottage and the furthest parking spot was 75 yards away.

Loved the cottage but it was a tad chilly so we lit the woodburner, unfortunately it smoked quite bad, we think the chimney must need cleaning, also found all the shelves were taken up with the owners trinkets, which you were asked to replace in there original site if you moved them, the place was dog friendly but we have two miniature dachshunds and the steps were two high for them, I had to make steps out of the logs that were left as jumping is very bad for small dogs backs, only small niggles as the cottage is very nice and the upstairs wonderful, so if you have med or large dogs fine, but small I think perhaps the cottage is not so suitable

  • "The cottage was very cosy and welcoming, with extremely tasteful decor."

It was well equipped with everything you could need for a holiday stay and the barn was extremely useful for storing our bicycles. The village was attractive and the property, although right on the road, was not affected by traffic noise as it was not a very busy route. Parking was on the street, but we always got a space apart from one day when we returned at the time parents were collecting children at the small school opposite. However, a space became free as soon as the school traffic dispersed. There is so much to see and do in the area whether you are a walker, love the sea and rivers, or are interested in museums, castles and stately homes. Everything is within easy reach. The only downside for us was the Friday changeover day as the traffic is always more difficult on that day. A Saturday changeover would have been preferable. However, all in all a great stay in a lovely property.

Only downside to this cottage we could find which is tiny is the lack of mirrors in the upstairs bedrooms when trying to get ready to go out., otherwise we could not fault this fantastic cottage!

The cottage had everything you would need and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything, even sandwich boxes, cooking oil, dishwasher tablets etc There was a freezer in the barn area, which came in handy and the courtyard was a lovely space to relax. The en-suites and downstairs loo were great and we always found a car parkIng space outside.

  • "This was a very well equipped cottage and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable."

We particularly enjoyed having two en suite bathrooms plus a downstairs loo. The cottage was located in a village with a pub, a church and a village shop and was well placed to visit an excellent range of tourist destinations such as Norwich, Sheringham, Blickling Estate, Felbrigg Estate and Holkham Hall. We had an excellent holiday and were very taken with the area.
