It’s very well equipped and the owner was very helpful in supplying us all the information we needed prior to our visit and there is a helpful folder made available on arrival. The only slight negative was we found the king size bed a little hard as we both have back issues but a memory foam topper would solve the problem very easily. Would book it again.

We are delighted that you had an enjoyable stay, but sorry that you found the bed a little hard for you. Thank you for your positive feedback on the pre-visit information and bungalow folder. Property Owner

Having spoken to the owners, who were pleasant/apologetic, it seems this is a usual problem. It should be made clear prior to booking.

Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you had a comfortable stay. It is true that mobile phone signal in West Norfolk is poor, but the bungalow does have an excellent WiFi connection. The bungalow was very nice & accommodated my mobility needs with the exception of a disabled height toilet but I took my own toilet raiser, so no problem. They even thought of the dog by leaving treats! The property is well placed to visit both the coast, places of interest & has two good pubs serving lovely food.

Good location - not too far from most attractions in Norfolk. It was nice to have a washer and tumble dryer, as we have a very adventurous 4 year old, who likes to get muddy! The shower at this property is amazing too. The only slight issue was the lack of ventilation in the bathroom, as towels etc didn’t dry if left in there. All in all, a great cottage.

  • "The bungalow was very nice and comfortable."

It had everything we needed and was in a good spot for touring the areas around it. It was a shame that the bathroom did not have a bath, as this made it difficult with a two year old! The shop/garage in the village can get very busy, but the ASDA store just outside Kings Lynn is not bad and you can get fuel. We visited the Walks in Kings Lynn. It is a wonderful park. Great for walking dogs and with a brilliant children's play area (different areas for different areas). Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary at West Runton is fabulous. There are lots of different animals: goats, llamas, pigs, sheep, geese etc. Currently it's free to enter, but any donations help to care for the animals. We also managed to pay a visit to The Worlds Circus. They travel over Lincolnshire and Norfolk, and have deals on prices. It was really, really good and well worth the money. Some of the acts were truly amazing. There was a problem with the smoke detectors going off early in the morning. As they were hard wired, the owner came straightaway to deal with the problem. We would definitely return, and recommend the bungalow.

On Sunday 14th the weather got chillier and we tried to put on the central heating only to find the boiler broken and it wouldn't come on. Phoned the owner immediately who came round quickly but couldn't get the boiler working. She supplied a convector heater for the bedroom and the living room had an additional flame effect blow out fire. An engineer inspected the boiler on Monday 15th and identified it needed a new part which was sourced and fixed but not until Thursday 18th. Myself and wife are well in our 60's and in addition my wife is disabled. We found it particularly cold in the mornings and evenings in the kitchen and bathroom and it did honestly affect the enjoyment of our holiday. Although the owner did try to help and kept in regular contact the lack of total heating for 4/5 days was not good. I feel a level of financial compensation would be appropriate for the inconvenience we suffered. Please advise.

About the location

GAYTON

King's Lynn 7 miles; Swaffham 10 miles.

The small Norfolk village of Gayton is surrounded by charming, open countryside, and yet is within easy reach of the coast, offering two shops, a fish and chip shop and a pub, and host to a prominent historic windmill. Gayton lies seven miles to the east of the popular market town of King’s Lynn, which still retains the character, charm and many traditional buildings of its original function as a medieval port, set along its winding streets. From Gayton, the North Norfolk Coast is within easy reach and will appeal to many, with its expansive golden sandy beaches, coastal walks and cycleways, RSPB reserves and nearby Sandringham House and Estate, Oxburgh Hall and Houghton Hall.
