  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage, wished it could have been longer."

Everything there that we needed, cozy, clean and comfortable. Many thanks to Diana for her prompt help,on our last morning, much appreciated .

  • "We loved the cottage, it was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with good quality linen and towels etc."

Easy to use central heating. The only drawback we found was the fixed rain shower, I am 6' and my partner is 6' 4" and we found it quite tricky to shower in the small space so would have preferred a shower on a fixed wall rail. We coped! Thanks for making your house so welcoming. So refreshing to stay in a place with modern design/ colours and not a grannyish style of decor. More cottages should take the lead from you!

We parked on double yellow lines to take a look , and when looking inside was so small and claustrophobic and as we couldn’t park anywhere near we just put the keys through the door and went home.

Thank you for your comments. We do advertise the property parking correctly, we have not had previous reviews about the size of the property we are sorry this was not suitable for you. Property Owner

  • "What a great little property."

It has all the comforts and amenities you need while your away. Very clean, tidy and presentable. Comfortable bed , even a tv in the bedroom to watch the morning news , while getting ready for you day. 10/10. Plenty of pubs & eateries within walking distance. Shops and supermarkets also close by. Close to the beach. Even though it had no parking, there was safe, FREE, parking , a couple of mins walk. We had no noise issues , in-fact all week , from the pub across the road , tbh we were looking at expecting some sort of noise, with the advert saying music twice a week.( not that this put us off when we were booking ) The property is in a good location especially to use as a base to travel around sightseeing. Its a dog friendly place , but you wouldn't think that any dogs had ever stayed here. We were really happy with our stay and would definitely return also recommend a stay to anybody looking in this location. This was a break we were looking forward too. Thank you for letting us stay at your property and hope to see you again soon.

Only one downside which is not something that can be changed is the fact you can't park your car at the property but there is a free car park down the road. Other than that everything else is good.

No wardrobe to hang clothes, had to live out of suitcases. Shower was awful, far too small, couldn’t turn around to wash. Stairs far too steep, fell down them and damaged back! Came home 4 days early, that’s how bad it was. Overall not a pleasant experience!

Walk to Morrisons and High street and ten min.walk to beach . Rose cottage was very comfortable, best bed ever had when we been away, nice to have a shower and a bath , comfortable seating in the good size lounge and nice to have the extra small room to sit and listen to music, outside space was a lovely little sun trap, stairs fairly steep but straight and owner has provided a good strong hand rail, we are both 80 and just took care so had no problems with the stairs. would definitely stay again .

Close to free car park. Lovely and warm on colder days. Comfortable bed and good towels. My husband loved the little snug where he could listen to music while I watched the good sized tv in the lounge. Great to have a second tv in the bedroom too! Just short of a wardrobe/rail to hang clothes but otherwise a great little place.

Very well equipped and had everything we could possibly want. Its only a 3 minute walk to get to a free car park by the river and a few more minutes to get to the pier and beach. The sports bar opposite does fabulous burgers and the locals are very friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the beach walks.

Tastefully decorated in a homely manner. Negative points was the tv In the lounge kept loosing sound? Not sure if it was a internet signal problem, or maybe the sound card in the tv? It was remedied by turning off power and starting again. The shower would have been better with a removable head, just my opinion! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again as the cottage is a credit to the owner. Thankyou.

So cosy and perfect for a couples weekend away! There were some issues with the water-the shower temperature was very unpredictable and often didn't heat up at all, and the toilet ran for a very long time. • "From the moment we opened the door to Rose Cottage,we knew that we had chosen the right place to stay in Gorleston."

On arrival we had flowers, wine, and milk in the fridge to settle us in(a lovely touch). The Cottage was immaculate and you are supplied with everything you need for any lenght of stay.Checking in is not as complicated as some reviews have stated, basically, you park up somewhere outside, offload luggage(leave beach stuff in car)will explain later, and take the car down to Riverside carpark(FREE)which is down the road facing Cottage at the end on the left.Walk back up and enjoy a glass of cold wine while you take it all in.Anyway, the reason for leaving all the beach stuff in the car is,when you are going to the beach, drive up there and find one of the free parking spaces near(I recommend outside ocean rooms) and you are set for the day.Once you have had your day at the beach, load back up and head back to Riverside car park where you can leave car until you need to use again.Back to the Cottage,we had absolutely no problems with WI-FI but sometimes BT needs to be reset to enable NETFLIX,and internet services, etc; To do this, all you need to do is turn off the BT box to the left of sofa and leave for 10 seconds and turn back on again. The patio area is a godsend and we realised that if we had have booked a hotel, this would not be an option on the gloomier days(which were very rare). We spent many days down at the beach and to sum up,we would not choose anywhere else than Rose Cottage to come to Gorleston. No matter what dining preferences you have, they will be catered for, everything within easy reach,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  • "We had a really lovely stay."

I think most of the other reviews are very accurate. This little house is in a great location located close to everything. There is a convenience store about 5 mins away, there are probably 4 pubs within a 1 min walk and restaurants 10 mins walk. The house is absolutely done out to the best of its potential, it is tiny ( the photos make it look large) but it's perfectly fine for 2 people. The only thing that would be great would be WiFi because there is none at the house. I did struggle all around the area getting online. Gorleston and the surrounding area is beautiful, we enjoyed exploring and we really can't wait to come back and visit again. There are several areas to walk the dog although only really the beach around our area. We drove to other areas to let him roam free off the lead. In terms of downsides, the stairs in the house are very steep so definitely not suitable if you struggle with your knees or mobility. It's a bit of a pain not being able to unload your car closer but we were lucky and got a spot on the street across the road to enable us to load the car. Again this is fine when you are fit. Diane supplied everything we needed and she even left some milk, a bottle of wine and beautiful fresh flowers which was a lovely touch. Thank you Diane for a lovely stay. We hope to return soon.

  • "The "cottage" was a very small end of terrace house which looked bigger in the photos."

It was nice enough, with a small sun trap garden, basic kitchen facilities and close to Gorleston beach, but expensive based on previous experience of cottage stays. Paid more for proximity to beach than luxury of the stay, although the bed was very comfortable. Basic cleanliness, with a few more detailed spots missed (like the recliner cushions on the sofa full of dog hair & sound system controls). It is dog friendly so as non-pet owners we could smell the wet dog type smells in the carpeted areas. Overall, we enjoyed our stay as a 'base' and being within walking distance of the beach but wouldn't book again.

The property, which is semi detached, has quality fittings, furnishings, towels and bedding as mentioned in several previous reviews and the kitchen is a well known Swedish retailer installation We do also provide fresh flowers, tea and coffee, hotel style toiletries and a complimentary bottle of wine. The sound system controls were cleaned to covid guidelines as were all door handles, lamp switches, door knobs and other high density touch points The recliner and carpet are checked regularly but will of course be double checked as soon as possible, thank you for your feedback and we hope you will be able to find a pet free property more to your liking in future. It is a lovely cosy cottage with everything needed for a self catering stay. The house was spotless and even had a bunch of roses placed for our arrival and milk in the fridge. The bed is super comfy with fresh white good quality bedding. The bathroom is en suite with shower and a separate bath. Toiletries and fluffy towels also provided. There is a small clean cosy courtyard which is a suntrap that also has a BBQ and table and chairs. Morrisons Supermarket is within a 10 minute walk as well as the high street. The best bit is that the beach is a 5 minute walk away. Gorleston has a beautiful clean golden sandy beach which has a cafe that serves lovely milky coffees, delicious cooked breakfasts and fish and chips. We also had a couple of tasty meals at The Cliff Hotel and The Pier Hotel both also within a 5 minute walk. The more lively resort of Great Yarmouth is a short drive away. We will definately be back.

  • "We had a bitter sweet holiday because we had to have our beloved dog put to sleep whilst we were there so it may taint our view."

We did find the shower a real pain as we could not have a shower one after another as it went cold, we couldn’t budge the right switch on it either so most days one of us had to have a bath instead. You couldn’t even use the shower with the bath as there was no shower screen. One of the knobs on the cooker was broken so couldn’t be used. The bedroom was beautiful but needed either black out curtains/blind as it was too bright, we had to put something over the nets to darken the room. The worst was the TV signal, it was awful, we tried to watch it one evening and it just kept coming up with no signal. The rooms do seem rather cluttered with excess furniture. Plus sides are it was beautifully clean, fridge freezer was an ideal size and very useful. The position was ideal with a 5 minute walk to the beach/promenade. The car parking wasn’t a problem for us. The noise from the pub across the road was only bad one evening a week so bearable. On the whole we enjoyed our stay but with the loss of our beloved boy it ended very sadly, although the vets looked after him well.

  • "The cottage stands on the junction of 3 roads - all with double yellow lines with the door opening onto a very small pavement and a very narrow road (2 cars cannot pass at the same time, even though it's '2 Way traffic'."

My wife and I are in our 60's and I suffer with both back, hip and knee problems and my wife has breathing difficulties caused by a type of 'reflux'. Therefore we cant carry things far and the advertised nearby parking was in fact some 300 metres away near the docks! So for unloading I had to park outside on double yellow lines and rush the unloading of our car and the wrath of passing cars ! When we left the cottage I had to park on the 3rd road, that was one way, and leave the car in the middle of the road behind a bollard and then go and fetch our things - which was some 50 metres away. Again we got some abuse from locals! On the hot nights we had to have the windows open and the 'main' road seems to be a racetrack for every Boy Racer and motorcyclist (with no exhaust silencer!) in Gorleston! So traffic noise was an issue. The cottage itself had obviously had a lot of money spent on it with quality fittings and equipment (e.g. large Panasonic fridge ' freezer) and it was very clean. Again problems for us were the steep pitch of the stairs with narrow treads (synonymous with properties of that age) and we had to take great care with these stairs. I think some mention should be made that this property due to loading / unloading problems and the steep pitch of the stairs IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES. Also the bathroom off the main bedroom has a step down which caused me to fall on the first night as Id forgotten about it! The décor is nice, if somewhat dark and whilst 'taste' is a matter of opinion we found the TV room / lounge cluttered and I would take away the Rocking Chair as we both caught our shins on this when shutting the blinds as there is too much seating in there, especially for a 2 person let. The kitchen again has quality cooker and units but is small - the wrought iron table / chairs had to be moved to access the fridge / freezer. Personally we felt that the 'music room' would be better served with a small dining table and 2 chairs than with a large couch, large coffee table and music centre stand. This would free up space in the kitchen and enable a more pleasant eating experience. Despite the negative comments you can see that the owner has spent money on the cottage and the quality of the bed, mattress, bed linen and towels was plain to see. A nice touch was the fresh milk in the fridge so we could have a drink on arrival. I'm not being 'ageist' but the cottage would be suitable for a younger couple but for us with our disabilities it caused problems which spoilt our holiday. We were dreading having to pack up on the Saturday morning after unpacking the car on the Tuesday!
