The barn was well equipped and immaculately clean. Bed very comfortable. All you needed for a cooked breakfast was supplied for first morning... bacon, sausage, tomatoes & freshly laid eggs which was a lovely touch and not expected. Outside space very welcoming with table, chairs & loungers to catch the afternoon sun. We walked to the village (about a mile and half round trip with hardly any traffic) visited the church and the local pub. Met the ponies (Ronnie & Reggie ), the geese, ducks, cats. Watched the bats at dusk - great location is you are an animal lover. Cannot fault the area for peace & quiet. Supermarket close by at Diss (15 mins by car) to stock up on supplies as the pub wasn't offering food at the time we visited but this didn't spoil our experience at all. We will definitely be back ! Where the cottage did not meet expectations for us was mainly the heating, I had to ask Chris a few times to come ad turn the heating up as he had the controls, although I can understand his reason for this, I did not think it was good. The heating at this time of year is very important and I felt we should be in control of that. The other point I think is worth mentioning is the oven, it had old fat in the base of the oven and when heated it a bad smell. Regards Peter

I am sorry to hear that the property did not meet your expectations reference to the heating. I would like to assure yourself and future guest that the heating is set to 21°C starting from 6am through to 10pm at night during the winter season. I apologise if this is not to your preference, however this has never been an issue previously and would like to say that we did come round as requested and increased the temperature to 24°C. It is very quiet apart from the occasional train passing nearby (as mentioned in the listing) and it's set in a farm with poultry, geese, and donkeys and some nearby horses as well as local wildlife. The location is not close to anywhere, which may be to your liking, but it doesn't take too long to get out to Diss or Norwich or the southern end of the Broads if you want to go for a drive. Our hosts, Claire and Chris, couldn’t have been more welcoming, providing a cooked breakfast for our first morning there, as well as very helpful hints and tips about travelling around the local area. We were very fortunate to have great weather which meant we saw the absolute best that Norfolk and Suffolk could provide. Picturesque villages are aplenty with wonderful friendly pubs along the way. The Crown at Burston and The Crown at Pulham Market are a must - but you’ll never be short of somewhere to stop for a pint or two. The cottage itself is ideal for a couple looking to kick back and relax - all one one floor makes for easy access with a lovely patio at the back to enjoy a morning coffee. About the location

Bury St. Edmunds 22 miles; Norwich 23 miles.

Diss is a popular rural market town in the south of Norfolk, where its buildings offer examples of gothic architecture, and an insight of the towns past life can be found within the local museum. The market place is the hub of the town, which is overlooked by its beautiful 13th century church. At the bottom of the town is Diss Mere, a 6-acre lake with a fountain that runs all day, along with its adjacent park where you can relax while watching the world pass you by, making this a truly idyllic location. Diss has narrow winding streets with secret little courtyards, and a high street offering an array of small shops and tea rooms. On Friday the high street is home to the weekly market and to the edge of town a weekly auction is held in the local salesrooms. To the other side edge of Diss you will find its 18 hole golf course. Walkers can explore the Boudica Way, a wonderful 40 mile walk from Diss to the medieval city of Norwich. Approximately 2 miles from Diss is Bressingham, with its Steam Museum,17 acres of beautiful gardens, garden centre, restaurant, and the Dad’s Army collection where you can wander through Walmington-on-Sea with its original props and vehicles from the TV series. Other local attractions include Banham Zoo, the 100th Bomb Group Museum, along with the many attractions and amenities to be found in the cathedral city of Norwich.
