“The welcome pack was great especially the bread, eggs and milk”
“It would have been nice to have bath robes for when using the hot tub.”
Guest should be aware about pet friendly beaches. if it had been in season most beaches did not allow dogs on them. So we had to travel to find one.
“A very nicely appointed cottage.”
Well kitted out in the kitchen with everything you might need, including milk, eggs and bread in addition to the welcome hamper. The artwork on the walls was coordinated and lovely to look at. We only found two radiators that worked but these were ample for our needs in September. We didn't need to use the log fire but it looked inviting. The hot tub was marvellous but it was odd having to come out the front door and through the tall gate in the hedge to get to it: though making it very private. Wherever we go there never seems to be enough surfaces in bathrooms to put your toiletries, and never enough hooks on which to put towels: the small towel rail did not work/get hot.
“A lovely quiet location, not to far from the seafront, .”
. The cottage could do with a coat paint as was black mould over the walls and cieling in main bedroom, Could also do with having a shower non slip mat , as shower very slippery, otherwise everything ok, the dog had a small enclosed garden which was good . No complaint,s , enjoyed our week. . You should also be aware you can here the people upstairs, it did not bother us for the week.
“Lovely hot tub but only allowed to use until 9pm so restricted us after a day out and meal.”
No WiFi which wasnt great as also no signal so trying to book days out tricky. Home comfortable but damp. Decor not as pristine in the photos. Felt more student accommodation but it was fine for a week. Beach nice and woods good to walk the dog. Hamper was a lovely touch. Thank you.
“Nice quiet location, a little dated, would have been good to have Wi-Fi.”
Great for the dogs, a lovely beach and woodland walk 15 mins walk from the cottage .
“The overall cleanliness of the property was quite frankly very poor: Double bedroom - had a musty/damp smell and the walls/ceiling in this room contained spots/patches of what appeared to be dampness.”
Bathroom - Although the shower warmth/pressure was great there was a loose edging on the window edge allowing water to become trapped and causing a very bad smell, there was no toilet brush so unable to clean, the extractor fan was heavily covered in dust and there was an unmarked step into the bathroom causing a few trips until we became accustomed to it. Kitchen - The dishwasher was stuck on the same Economy program, the salt cap was missing, the lid for the tablet housing didn't open during the cycle, the facia of the cooker was rusted, the windows were dirty and plates/glasses were also dirty - we had to wash them before use - There were 3 frying pans which were covered in rust/carbon and should not have been in the kitchen, the cupboard containing the pots/pans was also dirty (likely to be caused by the dirty frying pans), the lighting was poor in this area and the clock wasn't working - it was stuck on 5 O'clock. Living Room - The floor was uneven around the electric heater causing a trip hazard, the floor was dirty in various areas, and the clock wasn't working - stuck on quarter to 5. Outside - there was a broken egg shell on the path, it quite obviously hadn't been swept up, and we got the job of clearing some old dog poo from the grass area. We were unable to find instructions for any of the kitchen appliances, nor could we find any information on the recycling bin.
“The cottage was brilliant and communication with the owner was superb, the hot tub was ideal to relax in at the end of the day.”
The shops and beach are very close and yarmouth is just up the road aswell. Thanks for a lovely time Sykes and sarah :)
“On arrival the place was not clean the floor was dirty not been hoovered or moped so went to hoover to find that the hoover did not work had no suction so I had to use the dust pan & brush!”
The place smelt very damp and the bedding was damp feeling so we're our clothes when we woke up. The door mat on arrival has seen better days with it being ripped and the coat hooks behind the front door broken. The hot tub wasnt great it wasn't very warm at all even when the temp was turned up it didn't even stay up and the rules of not being able to go in after 9pm I've been on a lot of breaks with hottubs and not once have I even seen this rule and considering where the hot tub is there should be lounge robes provided but nothing just 1 bath towel and hand towel per person it's just a good job I brought my own towels to use for the hot tub. The other rule in the book stating couldn't leave our dog in the property on its own is extremely strange also again we've been on many holidays and never has this been said to us. There was so much more but I could be here all day so I will leave it with sadly we will not be returning or recommending the property to family & friends. A refund would be acceptable and if this was my holiday cottage and someone had so many issues I would gladly refund them. Thank you fir you time
“Poor info re local facilities and domestic appliances, no wi-fi, refresh of decor required, replacement of certain saucepans required.”
On the upside good area, large dwelling, good facilities, great jacuzzi which would benefit from a CLEAN box to put towels, robes etc in, hook on wall for robes would be good. A visit from owners to ensure all ok?
“We have had fantastic holidays at Kiln Cottage.”
We have been coming since June 2017 and always found the cottage to be very clean, comfortable, homely and relaxing and its a great location for taking our dog out for walks and to be close to our daughter. We would like to thank Sarah and Alan for their warm welcome and sorting out any problems that we have had and hope to return back soon.
“Beautiful cottage .”
Good facilities , clean modern ? Enjoyed the experience of hot tub . Good location .
“This little cottage is great, so clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.”
While it is set on a little housing estate there is a little woodland just down the road which is perfect for walking dogs! The hot tub was the highlight of the trip - we had lots of Prosecco and giggles in that!
Has everything. Also WiFi. Hot tub fabulous. Location central. Fenced front garden great for dog
“We have had yet another fantastic break at Kiln Cottage.”
We were here last in September for 3 weeks and also had a brilliant time. The cottage is so warm, clean and so homely and the walks for our dog are brilliant we have celebrated Christmas with our Daughter and her Husband this time and had a brilliant evening and cooked a Christmas meal. We cannot wait to return back again in 2019 to see the family again and to return back to Kiln Cottage, thanks so much to Sarah and Alan and also to Sykes for such a wonderful year of breaks in 2018. The only slight negative that we found this time was the same as Mrs Trott and October 2018 that the fridge has returned back to a very small one which we found hard to cater for the Christmas meal and we had to go shopping nearly every day as we were down for 2 weeks and needed milk etc.
“Absolutely gorgeous cottage which was so homely and clean.”
Beautiful log burner which was fantastic for those cosy evenings. Hot tub was excellent and very relaxing. Overall a fantastic property which was perfect to celebrate my fiancée birthday. Thankyou will definately be returning.
Had a lovely stay!
“Had a wonderful time.”
Had visited the cottage this time last year so knew we would be well looked after. The welcome package complete with a bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch plus a few extras in the cupboards. We appreciate the owner accommodated our change of family circumstances considering we booked up almost 12 months in advance! The hot tub was fab, one of the highlights at the end of each day. The only slight criticism would be the fridge was rather small for a 4 person/adult weeks holiday The can opener didn’t work! The frying pans were thin, cheap and devoid of any non stick surface they might of had. The mattress on the single bed ( the bed under the window in the twin bedroom) had lost its support. Our adult daughter said it felt like the springs were coming through. Otherwise we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Thank you
“The cottage is part of a bigger house (I believe 2 flats above it).”
You can hear someone above walking about. The cupboards in the kitchen smell a little damp so not sure how they would be in winter. The route we came in on went through a rather run down area... don't be put off, the cottage is in a nice neighbourhood and is quiet.
