10 Customer Reviews

  • "Firstly we booked Sea however the day before we travelled I received a message to say they had an issue with the patio door lock so transferred us to Sky which was a larger property."

It’s a real shame as the property is lovely but the overall cleanliness is not good and and it needs a good deep clean. Including cleaning some savers black mould for the ceilings and walls especially in the bedroom as this is very unhealthy. Frustrating silly things like multiple light bulbs needed changing, especially outside as if we hadn’t taken a torch we wouldn’t have even been able to see our dog at night as there is no light at all other than a very dull light near the hot tub. My overall impression is that this was very nice once but has been left with minimal afford from the owners to keep it up to any sort of decent standard. I would suggest that maybe Sykes take a little more responsibility it checking what they list rather than using what are clearly old photos.

  • "We had a fabulous week in your house, spacious and clean only minor issues some of the doors kept coming off the rails and would get stuck and glasses in a draw was a pain because every time the draw was opened a glass broke so we ended up buying more to replace them."

  • "I was apprehensive when booking after looking at the reviews but I emailed the owners and Seb was very helpful in responding."

The property itself is a nice remote location with good access all round to many locations of the broads so a good base. Few pointers but there’s no sign posts anywhere from the road so you will drive past it! I would suggest this is addressed. The driveway is dead opposite the chicken farm and is down the driveway for ‘gossards’ and ‘the lodge’. You will only see the sign post for the barns at the bottom of the driveway. If you want to order a food shop for delivery, use ‘slaneys barns’ and add the seaglass barn name in the notes as the drivers are familiar with the properties and had zero issues here. The descriptions of the property mention toiletries provided but there was nothing in the property along these lines, not even hand soap so take your own (only washing up liquid, toilet rolls and a couple of dishwasher tablets were present). Nice little welcome pack of teabags/ coffee pods and cookies though with a pint of milk in the fridge. There were dressing gowns, towels and slippers for use with the hot tub which was nice. And the properties have privacy walls outside too which is good. The hot tub was nice and clean but they had ran out of test strips, Seb was very good in dropping some more off though, the upkeep of it during your stay is down to you. There is an outside tap but for the SEA property, it’s not piped up. The property on the end has a working tap though. The property itself, I can see luxury is the attempt (could easily be achieved) and I liked the decor. Had facilities like iPad, sound bar, cooker etc but the attention to detail was generally ‘unfinished’. For example, The sides of the worktops hasn’t been finished, toilet in the en-suite wasn’t fitted down so wobbled when using, edge work of floors, ceilings and lighting needs work, outiside could use a lick of paint, hot tub cover didn’t clip down but all mainly aesthetics. Only one light on cooker hob worked (if tapped), one side light for the en-suite mirror etc. I can’t comment on the doors/privacy as I was there on my own with my dog so privacy wasn’t an issue (plus my dog knows how to open them cos they are sliding barn doors but I liked the concept!) Front and back doors very tight/poorly fitted but being on my own I was grateful for this as it ironically was bit more secure! So most of the above, whilst needing work, wasn’t an issue in the grand scheme of things unless you are someone that this kind of thing would really bug/upset. Unless you look really close though, generally well presented. If you were staying with a bigger group, limited hangers, kitchen ware etc (no oven gloves only tea towels). you will have to control your own hot tub though so if unsure on how to do this, including use of chlorine etc, may be a challenge. The iPad is a nice touch but wasn’t charged so unless you are an apple user (which you would prob bring your own anyway, no charger) Only one a4 laminated sheet of guidance which only mentioned WiFi and hot tub basic. Most properties have a book of info including nearest docs, vets, hospitals etc but very limited info here so this would be useful and thoughtful for guests. Plenty of parking and nice quiet location very near to some lovely walks such as weavers way. Me and my dog did over 40 miles during our stay and most all from the front door of the barn. Overall, I would stay here again for the location and the property but would be great to see the property finished to its full potential and a bit more thought into the basic amenities/provisions. Although the slippers were a nice touch, hand soap and toiletries/basic provisions would have been more favoured by me personally (especially as mentioned in the listing so only took minimal with me) for example, as most people take slippers/flip flops away with them I would imagine and would recommend when seeing the majority of the floor is not carpeted in the pics (was my thought anyway but each to their own on that one) Reckon they could be great eventually when all 4 are finished to their full glory! Thanks to Seb for his help during my stay and look forward to visiting again. Hope this review helps anyone looking to book

  • "The property was a perfect base for our week away."

The only minor maintenance issue we found was that one of the duvet covers was quite badly ripped at the bottom, so could do with replacing. Other than that, it had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. I would stay here again with close family, but not friends as there isn’t enough privacy with the doors not fully sealing on any of the bedrooms or the bathroom.

  • "The concept of the cottage is good but the buildings have not been finished."

The front door does not fit properly. The toilet and bath in the en-suite move and not fixed down. Had to sort the fridge as the legs not fixed down and moved when we were loading when arrived. The place needs a good overhaul but units i noticed are for sale. The beds however were comfortable and good location to visit the broads etc. I would not stay there again but will certainly visit the area. Think about it before you book

  • "On line it , stated that there were EV charging points, there was one, no instructions in the place so had to phone the owner about how to use the charger."

The owner didn't know, but later sent an email with a code. They need to leave instructions for the charger and for other appliances. Also the doors were sliding doors, and did not completely cover the door space, including a gap into the shower room!! On the good side there was plenty of space in the rooms, and the hot tub outside was appreciated.

  • "Instructions on how to get up to the property would be useful as both cars in our party drove past the entrance and a car staying next door also did."

There is no signpost at the bottom of the drive and the instructions did not mention which driveway to use. There were a couple of lamps not working in some of the light fittings. Other than that a most enjoyable stay would recommend and visit again.

  • "We were dubious to go on our holiday after booking due to a review we read a few weeks prior to our departure."

I contacted both the owner & Sykes prior and was assured we would find the barn to be of a clean condition. On our arrival the hot tub cover I noted was ripped, in lifting the lid there was mould on the underneath, the following morning no one arrived to do any checks on the hot tub. I text the owner and made him aware about the condition of the tub & that no one had arrived to perform any checks etc. I was advised we had to do the checks ourselves and the testers etc were located in the kitchen. There was no reply as to the condition of the hot tub from the owner. We therefore did not use it. The main bedroom had stains on the headboard & base of the bed. I checked the duvet and pillows due to the previous review, they were stained so had not been changed as promised. We moved into the other bedroom ti sleep as that was cleaner. The exterior of the barns are in desperate need of renovation. The bench at the front of the barn is unwelcoming the paint work on the barns required doing it was anaesthetically pleasing when we saw the barns. We have never had to leave a review as negative before but feel people need to know that this is not a luxurious barn as advertised. We holiday regularly in lodges etc but this was the worst we have stayed in unfortunately. Norfolk is a lovely area to holiday so we made the most of it but would not go back to this accommodation.

  • "Overall, we had a better holiday than expected from the poor feedback we’ve seen."

We did experience a couple of issues, advised the owner and these were dealt with swiftly. However, the lovely sofa was stained and smelly and when we stripped the beds on leaving, there were stains on the pillows and duvet and cobwebs under the bed. We advised the ladies cleaning, so hope these have been attended to. There’s an iPad, Alexa and a hot tub, which are nice, as are the milk, tea, biscuits and pods for the coffee machine. The huge bath in the en suite was lovely. The situation of the property is remote, which we really liked, but the outside concrete construction is failing a bit. Sea could be amazing but it just needs a bit more attention to detail
