  • "I was slightly worried reading the other reviews for this listing, but we had nothing to worry about!"

Our stay was amazing! The house is beautiful and spacious, it was extremely clean and really warm and cosy. The beds were super comfy in our opinion and the the facilities are great, especially the hot tub! The kitchen had everything we needed for a full Sunday roast for 8 people! The huge oven was a bonus! The only thing that was inconvenient was that there wasn’t enough hot water for 8 showers in the morning. However, we made this work for the rest of the days by staggering the showers slightly, so it didn’t end up being a huge issue for us. We would definitely come back here, it was perfect for our New Years getaway!

  • "Having read previous reviews about Sky, I was; to say the least, slightly nervous about taking my family and precious grandchildren there."

But, after corresponding with the owner about the negative comments, reassurance was given. And Sky certainly delivered! It was perfect for our Christmas getaway. So much space for everyone and it had everything we needed to cook and serve a delicious Christmas dinner! We all had the most amazing time and loved the spaciousness of this property. We all loved it

  • "Disappointed."

I saw the previous bad feedback before I arrived and I rung before leaving to check everything would be fixed. I was told it would be. It wasn’t The place would have been lovely when new but it not being maintained. The photos on Sykes website and ratings on Sykes are no longer accurate. Dirty, sticky kitchen top, tea stained mugs, cobwebs everywhere, mouldy shower. Dead flies in fridge. Poor drainage outside. Some lights not working, second boiler fuse missing so only enough hot water for 3 (it sleeps 8!). Doors falling off the rails and dangerous. Front rail by door wobbly. Two toilets not bolted to wall they move when sitting on them. We had to fix the bed and tighten up front door ourselves. Back decking all green (not nice when walking to get in hot tub!). And to top it off when we changed the sheets at the end of the holiday we found all the mattresses were covered in wee & poo stains. Made us all feel sick. I have complained and sent pictures to Skykes but apparently the owner isn’t responding to my complaint. Very disappointed.

  • "Looks better on paper."

The front door was dragging heavily on the floor, needed a shoulder to open it. Hinges want adjusting, a few minutes work with the right tools. Two of the toilets were hanging off the walls as the screws were loose, rocking unstable in use, a simple fix but not done, A toilet lid was virtually falling off. Clean on the surface but dirty windows, dirty in the corners round the fridge with cobwebs in places, the dining table was so sticky a magazine tore, lifting it off. I tried washing it but it wasn't much better. We were not interested in the Hot tub so I turned it off. The cover on the waterproof outside socket was broken and just laid over it, perished plastic. Dangerous doors, the roller sliding door to a bedroom was sticking on the lower guide, my wife opened it and it bounced off the runners and fell on her, luckily she held it and hit the wall behind her which saved her from falling so didn't do her any harm. Not good if two families stay there as the doors hang clear of the walls and there is no sound privacy between rooms. No curtains in lounge but some people like that I suppose. The main bedroom had a blackout blind but as there was no door on the bathroom and no blind in the bathroom, daylight comes in at dawn, some of us prefer dark rooms, the other double bedroom had an old worn out blind that only went halfway down , useless. The bedding was clean and the beds reasonably comfortable, Towels etc all good as you would expect with a few nice touches like slippers and gowns. The impression is that the place has been well used and nobody can be bothered to actually maintain it. It is in a nice quiet location and with a bit of maintenance and not much money it would be great. Overpriced for the condition it is in.

  • "Loved it! Great property, private, quiet and spacious."

Owners think of EVERYTHING you’d might forget to bring or need, they even supply dog treats! Very grateful for the added extras. Hot tub lovely, Wi-Fi good, hot water didn’t last enough for more than two showers, we’d have to wait a while, that was the only thing, but apart from that, brilliant place to stay!

Due to some local power outages in the area there had been a couple of issues but the owner arrived at the property within the hour to help us resolve the issue. Would stay at the property again and definitely recommend.

  • "Outstanding property and hosts - everything was super clean and exactly as shown on the property listing."

The hosts were incredible - so quick to respond to any queries we had and supported with local information; they were also very understanding when we accidentally broke the kettle(!) and provided us with a temporary stairgate for the week when we requested. Would definitely stay again - so much to do in the area and great location.

Property also up for sale reason they probably not willing to maintain it) Stay in plot sky what was changed at just under 2k for the week and it by far the dirtiest place we have been - piss stains in beds - dirt on the beds and a nail - front door hangs of have to slam to shut -dirty hottub -flys everywhere - stains all over walls - filler not even been sanded - oven was disgusting - taps had green limescale all over - sofa was so dirty made us feel sick - mould over all the blinds in the rooms - shower doesn’t empty properly so end up flooding bath room The list goes on I’ve attached some pictures to Google reviews, We spent the first 24hrs cleaning as the owner refused to sort the issues that day and basically told us if we don’t like it leave and this wasn’t possible as we had 3 children who took a 6 hour drive to go to the sea side and we didn’t want it to ruin there holiday , also be carful the owner lies

  • "It was in a beautiful location and very spacious."

Very pleased with parking facilities and the hot tub was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable and we had fairly good facilities. Some improvements to maintaining the property would be good though. The main rail into property was very loose, the door was hard to close and open, two toilet seats were very loose and the bath leaked. There was also a very wobbly chest of drawers. The double ensuite shower flooded too.
