The property

Perfectly located for exploring the fantastic Norfolk Broads and East Coast of Norfolk, this beautiful converted barn is set in the historic and well-served riverside village of Coltishall which offers an excellent base for exploring the East of Norfolk and the popular Norfolk Broads.

Conveniently located alongside the owners’ village pub, The Red Lion, the barn is full of character, with exposed beams throughout the main living area of the barn.

Boasting its own suntrap garden and patio with a relaxing hot tub and parking beyond, the door to the cottage kitchen leads straight from the back garden.

There is a ground floor bedroom and bathroom and a large open plan living area within the main part of the barn with exposed beams throughout and a galleried bedroom looking down over the barn living room.

To offer flexibility with the accommodation, there is the option to use the sofa bed in the living room.

The Red Lion pub next door specialises in locally-brewed real ales and traditional pub food and also hosts a quiz as well as live music nights.

There are also biannual beer festivals for guests to enjoy, hosted in Easter and the August bank holiday weekends.

The village itself has a good selection of pubs, restaurants, a hairdresser’s, takeaways and a café, all within walking distance of your cottage.

The area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and those wishing to enjoy the waterways of Norfolk.

A little further from the village you will be able to enjoy a number of attractions including National Trust properties, the cathedral city of Norwich and the wonderful rugged coastline.

About the location

COLTISHALL

Wroxham 4 miles; Norwich 9 miles.

The pretty Norfolk Broadland village of Coltishall is known locally as the ‘Gateway to the Broads’, where, on Coltishall Common, you can find an array of moored boats sitting along the banks of the River Bure. The banks of the River Bure are the picturesque setting of Coltishall Staithe, a large grassed area enjoying riverside pubs and restaurants, a village store/Post Office and attractive cottages. In summer, both locals and visitors enjoy relaxing picnics, feeding the ducks and playing ball games, while in winter, the local waterfowl enjoy Coltishall Staithe’s riverside tranquillity. On the outskirts of Coltishall is the summertime pick-up stop of the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow gauge steam and diesel service running between the market town of Aylsham and Wroxham, and walkers can enjoy the riverside footpath from Coltishall Lock. The local area offers a wide choice of places to visit from craft barns and beautiful gardens to National Trust properties and Redwings Horse Sanctuary, while river boat trips can also be enjoyed. With Norfolk’s beautiful and varied coastline within easy reach, this is a lovely location for discovering Norfolk.
