it was good to see the Bure Valley railway pass by beside the annexe.

  • "The cottage is part of a beautifully converted railway station, which has retained much of its character and is bigger than photographs suggest."

Everything is new and spotlessly clean. The beds are very comfortable. Lots of big fluffy towels. The patio seating area is a surprise, sunny and overlooking a narrow gauge steam railway line, which we were thrilled to see when a train chugged past mid morning. Emma was very accommodating, we will definitely return. Thank you Emma,.

  • "A bit disappointed with the "Garden" it is more of a Patio, with a high fence so was unable to look at the lovely view opposite whilst having our drinks."

But really enjoyed seeing the very cute steam trains and waiving to the smiling children. The toilet seat needs attentions as it is askew and not very comfortable for us ladies to sit on. In a great position for getting around. All in all though, a lovely place For your vacation.

Great location for exploring north Norfolk and Norwich Cottage spacious and clean Village lovely with walking distance pubs A little away from main road so cottage is peaceful with green views and a big patio

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 31A Station Road."

The accommodation was superb with the added convenience of an off road, large car parking space, right outside. It was comfortable, spacious, clean, quiet and was in the right location for us. Coltishall has a very good village general store, several takeaways, a garage, pubs and other amenities. We were able to explore the area around The Norfolk Broads and Norwich City itself easily. The North coast is within reach where you can enjoy some fantastic coastal scenery and walks. The area around Norwich Cathedral is stunning. We really appreciated the personal touch from the owner who contacted us, thank you.

Cottage was lovely but we thought it was to small to accommodate 4adults.

  • "The accommodation was clean and Covid had obviously been taken into consideration."

The welcome goodies were lovely to find and also the thoughtful bag of masks and hand sanitiser. The only reason we have slightly marked down the comfort score is because there is not enough comfortable seating for the four people this property accommodates.

  • "Absolutely fantastic little place to stay."

Spotlessly clean throughout everything you could need at the property is there. Small garden to the rear is lovely to sit out when the weather is nice and see the Bure Valley train go by over the weekend. Really good location not far from the broads and not a massive distance if you fancy a drive to the coast which we did. Nice traffic free walk along the railway to Wroxham (just be aware of cyclists when it gets narrow in parts). I think you can also walk along the railway to Aylsham if you're after a good long walk. Shops and pubs within walking distance, a lot closer than most other places we looked to stay. Really couldn't be happier with our stay and would highly recommend it to others!

The kitchen is equipped with all you could need for a self-catered stay, including the all-important dishwasher and washing machine.

The bedrooms have been furnished in a refreshing colour tone and include a double and twin bedded, served by a shower room where you can enjoy a refreshing shower to start your day.

Head outside and relax in the enclosed patio area while taking in the idyllic surroundings, with only the occasional passing train to disturb the peace and quiet, this is a narrow guage stream railway that only runs through the day.

Coltishall is a small village but offers the essential amenities including a number of good pubs serving food, a village shop, a butcher’s and petrol station.

Avid walkers can take advantage of the network of varied footpaths and walks in Horstead and the nearby Norfolk Broads, home to the 61 mile Weaver’s Way footpath which passes through a diverse landscape of woodland, mixed farmland and disused railway lines.

About the location

Wroxham 4 miles; Norwich 9 miles.

The pretty Norfolk Broadland village of Coltishall is known locally as the ‘Gateway to the Broads’, where, on Coltishall Common, you can find an array of moored boats sitting along the banks of the River Bure. The banks of the River Bure are the picturesque setting of Coltishall Staithe, a large grassed area enjoying riverside pubs and restaurants, a village store/Post Office and attractive cottages. In summer, both locals and visitors enjoy relaxing picnics, feeding the ducks and playing ball games, while in winter, the local waterfowl enjoy Coltishall Staithe’s riverside tranquillity. On the outskirts of Coltishall is the summertime pick-up stop of the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow gauge steam and diesel service running between the market town of Aylsham and Wroxham, and walkers can enjoy the riverside footpath from Coltishall Lock. The local area offers a wide choice of places to visit from craft barns and beautiful gardens to National Trust properties and Redwings Horse Sanctuary, while river boat trips can also be enjoyed. With Norfolk’s beautiful and varied coastline within easy reach, this is a lovely location for discovering Norfolk.
