But we were disconcerted to be told when we phoned for the access key code a full week before our start date that the dishwasher was broken and could not be used. We did register our dissatisfaction with the owner and an engineer was sent to the house on the Monday after our Friday arrival. He could not fix it. Given that it was already known to be out of order when we telephoned, and had obviously not been useable previously, we had to wonder why the engineer had not been called earlier. With a family of five including small children, we were eating all our meals at home and ended up doing a lot of washing up. To be honest, we probably would not book a family holiday cottage without full kitchen facilities so were a bit fed up.

I am very sorry that you were unhappy about the lack of dishwasher. I glad that the rest of the house met your expectations. Unfortunately our particular dishwasher model had problems that we had been trying hard to get fixed. We did arrange for an engineer to visit at the earliest opportunity during your stay to try to remedy the situation yet again. I did explain that we had been told on the previous engineer visit, only a couple of weeks earlier, that the problem was definitely fixed but yet again we received reports of it flooding all over the kitchen floor. Therefore we could only advise you not to use it. We had no less than seven engineer visits before the insurance company finally agreed to replace it. Replacing it within a 5 hour changeover window was simply not possible. We're sorry this had impacted your stay in this way. - Sykes owner relations
