The welcome pack was greatly appreciated. Lots of space for a family of 3 and a small dog. Lovely to see the deer in the garden in the morning and the garden was suitably enclosed for the dog. The en-suite in the main bedroom was nice and the role top bath in the main bathroom was enjoyed by our 12 year old son. Martham is a lovely village and leaving the front door of the cottage you arrive at the village green and duck pond which was lovely for short walks. Thank you for a great holiday

Lovely bathrooms. Kitchen could have done with a few more plates, mugs etc. We found we had to wash up after every meal to have sufficient for the next. Some plastic plates and cups for kids would be of benefit too. There wasnt any washing up liquid. Sofa had a faint smell of dog? Or at least the cushion did. Beds very comfortable. Never had an issue with parking.

Thank you Rebecca for your review. We’re very pleased you found the cottage to be fabulous, bathrooms lovely & beds very comfortable. We were surprised by your comments regarding crockery as we have larger families stay at the cottage who have described the kitchen as being “very well equipped”. However, your comments will be taken into consideration. We were in the cottage for a few days after you left & did not notice any smell of dog but we have asked our housekeepers to check this out & will rectify if necessary. There is usually washing up liquid in the cottage & we apologize if this was overlooked during your stay, no doubt you found sufficient tablets for the dishwasher. Thanks again & we hope to welcome you in the future. Property Owner

  • "Really nice property."

Good location for what we wanted to do. However, the house smelt of the oil fired central heating. We are used to gas heating which is odourless, so we found the smell overwhelming. So much so that after 1 night, I had to take my wife home as she was feeling nauseous and had a headache. That was a 6 hour round trip! Wendy and David did arrange a maintenance man to come and look at the boiler, however he also lived in a home heated by oil (opposite the property) and he said he couldn't smell anything and that the boiler seemed to be working OK. I cut my stay short by 1 night due to the smell. I have used Sykes on many occasions and this is the first major issue I have had.

Thank you for your review, however you appear to have omitted some important facts. You entered the property sometime between 1.30pm & 2.45pm despite acknowledging our email that very morning confirming the cottage would be ready for you from 4pm as per the booking terms. Our Housekeeper returned to the property at 2.45pm to deliver your complimentary welcome pack & was surprised to find yourselves & your belongings already in there. You made no mention of the alleged smell to our housekeeper despite this being the perfect opportunity. Approx 24 hours later you contacted us by email & advised us of the situation. Our maintenance man was with you within 30 minutes & advised he could not smell oil. We spoke with our housekeeper during that time and she also confirmed no smell of oil. We spoke with you again once our maintenance man had left and you were satisfied & apologized for “sending you on a wild goose-chase, it must be our sensitive noses”. Finally, you claim to have cut your stay short by 1 day due to the smell but this is not what you advised us on email. You stated that you’d gone home as “I got all of my visiting finished”. In the interest of safety, we called an engineer out who performed all the necessary testing & declared the boiler safe. We could not smell oil and we also live in a gas centrally heated home. In the village there are many takeaways and a pub serving food. There are also shops for buying essentials. The cottage had everything you need, was clean and comfortable, the garden was great for our dog but the only slight problem was having to put her on the lead to get to the garden as it is a shared driveway, but apart from that, the cottage was a real home from home, the welcome pack waiting for us was also a thoughtful touch. • "Beautifully furnished cottage in a great position for anyone wishing to visit the heart of the broads, Yarmouth, Norwich or beyond."

Parking was no real issue for us we always had a space outside the front door. Reasons for a slight mark down are that the garden was a little muddy which meant we needed to clean the floor often for the dog, but struggled to find enough cleaning products. Only 1 toilet roll in each bathroom provided and 1 bin bag meant we needed to buy our own - though this did mean another trip to Latham’s! It’s a very minor thing and easy to change, perhaps we are an anomaly that likes to clean the cottage as we enjoy our holiday. A fully stocked log store in the garden would’ve been welcome, it turned a little cold when we were there, however heating instructions are available. In summary a well furnished and decorated cottage, which we’d recommend with a few small changes. Thanks so much.

Thank you Ryan for you kind review. Coorie Cottage is indeed very central to many local attractions & we’re very glad you found that to be the case in addition to finding the cottage to be beautifully furnished. Much thought went into the décor & it’s great to know it’s enjoyed by our guests. As is standard in most self-catering properties we supply basic items in order to give our guests a day or two of starter supplies, this is in addition to our generous welcome pack. Also supplied is a starter pack for the wood burner. We’re sorry to hear you did not find this sufficient. Thank you so much for recommending Coorie Cottage, we can see from the messages received during your stay that it was thoroughly enjoyed. We do hope to welcome you again in the future. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and the whole cottage was very clean probably the cleanest holiday cottage we’ve rented so far and we have been to loads. The stairs are steep as stated not a problem at all for us, we used the stair gate supplied to stop our dogs going up stairs. The garden is lovely but for us having to pop our dogs on the lead to walk across the open shared path to get to the safe enclosed garden was a faff for us and such a shame it does tell you this in the write up but we went by one of the photos which showed the garden all fenced off, I think we would possibly not rebook because of this which is so disappointing as the beautiful cottage and the friendly neighbours and village is perfect for a return visit. Parking outside was never a issue for us, there’s lots of walks from the cottage or nearby and local shops within a few minutes walk, will miss a certain elderly gentleman that waved happily to us everyday as we passed. Thank you to Wendy and Dave for sharing your beautiful Coorie Cottage we have a fantastic week.

Weeks build up and not acceptable with covid around. We left our holiday early because of this. Owner easy to contact but wasn't helpful in the long run when we contacted Sykes, his tune changed. Book with caution. Location is great and cottage could be perfect but sadly it wasn't and we are very disappointed in our experience with the owner. Don't like leaving bad feedback but it has to be left in this case as our experience has been very stressful.

Thank you for your review. We are shocked at this being extremely negative considering your positive review in our guestbook states exactly as follows: “Lovely cottage, had lovely trips out. Had a few hiccups but owners are easy to contact and are lovely. Saw the seals at Horsey Gap – highly recommended Thankyou! You can see from all previous reviews on the website, which are very important to us, that they are very positive in all areas & we have been very happy with the cleaning company who we have been working with since October 2019. It seems the reason you have given such a negative review is because you did not receive the amount of financial compensation you were aiming for. We dealt with your complaint during your stay professionally, quickly & in a very customer friendly manner. The cleaners returned the very next day to rectify the specific areas that had been overlooked during the changeover & they left a bottle of prosecco & a bottle of wine of high quality by way of an apology. We also apologized & you advised you were in the cleaning industry and appeared very understanding at the time. Your choice to leave one day early was described to us as “no fault of your own”. However, despite all this & upon your return you decided to claim compensation through Sykes. Therefore we can only assume that our dealing with this professionally, quickly and in a very friendly manner in addition to sending the cleaners back the next day, leaving two bottles of wine & financial compensation is not sufficient for you. Hence the negative review. Future & potential guests please kindly note the cleaning company have assured us this will not happen again. We politely urge you to read on to previous reviews. We couldn’t find a single fault. The cottage was EXTREMELY clean, the attention to detail was fabulous every little thing was considered. The kitchen well equipped, both bathrooms spotless, all decor modern and well coordinated. Beds comfortable and cottage cosy. The stairs are a little steep but not a big concern, I was expecting them to be much worse from previous reviews. This leads me to another November review posted. I’d urge anyone considering booking coorie cottage to disregard the single unjustified negative review and definitely visit. The village is lovely, the owners are too, even left a very well enjoyed welcome pack on arrival. I’d say they went above and beyond our expectations. We’ve stayed in many holiday cottages and this is one of the best. We’ll be back again soon.

There was a very helpful welcome folder with suggestions for places to visit, local walks and places to eat. The only word of caution I would give is that the stairs are very steep. It does state this in the details, but I think it would cause problems for anyone with difficulty climbing stairs, or if you needed to carry children up or down to the bedrooms. Even the neighbours helped us out! There was so much to do close at hand and we only travelled by car over 15 miles out on one day. The only two things I'd mention is that the stairs would not suit an infirm person and that the only local pub in Martham which serves food is still closed.

Thank you for your great review. Its great to learn that you found the cottage very comfortable & well appointed & that you enjoyed the local area. There are two pubs within 2 minutes walk from the cottage, the one you mention which has a restaurant is currently closed but there is a post on social media suggesting it will be open soon & once restrictions are lifted. We stayed as a family of 4. To start with the cottage is beautifully decorated, every detail feels like it has been expertly planned in each room, the colour schemes all coordinate and the walls are covered in beautiful framed photographs of the local areas with lovely soft furnishings. Lots of original features mixed with modern touches, it really is the most beautiful cottage! The main bathroom with its free standing bath and book and wine glass holder was brilliant at the end of a day at the beach or walking, both of which are so easily accessed from the cottage. Soft fluffy towels - and plenty of them! The ensuite is also great, with plenty of storage space, a spacious shower and plenty of hot water. The beds are really comfortable with beautiful linen and teddy fleece blankets for if it’s gets a bit chilly. Really peaceful area with minimal noise noticed from the road. Plenty of storage in the bedrooms and a huge closet in the main bedroom! With a lot of local pubs still being closed or open for outside dining only, we choose to eat back at the cottage in the evenings and the kitchen is so well equipped that it didn’t feel a chore. The owners have thought of everything you might need and then some more - there is even a slow cooker so you can throw something in before heading off out in the morning and return to a cooked meal and a thermos flask, for if you want to take a hot drink with you! Such thoughtful touches! There are some books, card games, board games, and televisions to entertain the children in the evenings and a comprehensive welcome folder with lots of helpful information about the cottage, village and local areas. Very generous welcome basket was waiting for us on arrival and touches such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc were included. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Coorie cottage and would absolutely love to return! One of the nicest holiday cottages, we have stayed in!
