“If you go with the rIght attitude, this little place is everything you could want.”

It is small (reflected in the price) but it's cosy and compact. It's set in lovely grounds, surrounded by beautiful countryside, away from all distractions. There are no shops and few people along the country lanes, just peaceful country walks in every direction, including lovely woods and the grounds of stately homes. You can sit by the wood burning stove in the evening, watch the stars through the skylight at night and have meals in the garden with a host of birds, including pheasants. A gem ...

The property

The Retreat is a delightful studio cottage, described by previous guests as compact living at it's finest.

Tucked away down a quiet rural country lane in the North Norfolk village of Oulton, near Blickling, this compact property has been meticulously converted from a traditional Norfolk outbuilding into a wonderful, creatively planned retreat space.

It offers comfortable, well-equipped studio accommodation, with a woodburner which heats the property beautifully and provides a cosy ambience, ideal for a perfect romantic atmosphere when it's cold outside.

This Oulton studio cottage enjoys private use of a half-acre south-facing garden with patio area, gravel garden and large lawn with shrubs.

The Retreat is well-placed for visitors who enjoy walking and is in the vicinity of several local footpaths.

The picturesque village of Itteringham is within walking distance, with its pub that dates back to the 18th century, community-run shop and cafe, it has everything you need for your stay.

The local market town of Aylsham is a short drive away, along with the National Trust properties Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall.

The North Norfolk coastline, the Norfolk Broads and the city of Norwich are also within easy driving distance.

A wonderfully compact living experience at its best.
