We had some issues with a smoke alarm going off at irregular intervals. The downstairs toilet and bathroom was a little bit of an inconvenience. Plenty of dog walking footpaths around and the roads were quiet too.

Dear Eric, thank you for taking the time to review our cottage and for the lovely email thanking us for a very enjoyable visit. I am sorry that you found the downstairs bathroom an inconvenience; this is why we clearly state in our description of the cottage that there is a downstairs bathroom. Thanks to your timely email alerting us to the fact that the alarm was going off intermittently, we were able to send our housekeeper around to quickly resolve the problem. I am glad you enjoyed the many dog walking paths. Reedham is a very dog friendly place. Kind regards, Oonagh Property Owner

  • "Delightful cottage, beautifuully decorated in restful colours."

Whoever designed the interior is a master of aesthetics! We greatly appreciated the bottle of wine left for us - little touches like this mean a lot. Foundry cottage is ideally situated with two pubs within stumbling distance and another a little further on (though still walkable). Also two excellent tearooms. Useful to have the station nearby - we left the car at the cottage for two days of our stay. Wifi could've been a bit nippier, but that's a very minor whinge, overall we'd return in a heartbeat!

Dear Mary, thank you so much for your lovely review. It makes the effort of decorating seem worth while! I find so many rental properties bland so I am glad you liked it. Walking distance to pubs etc is always a bonus! The local train station is brilliant for travel to Norwich or Lowestoft. We look forward to welcoming back! Property Owner

The layout, everything that was provided and all the extra touches really made it for us; it worked perfectly having a dog with us too. We were even treated to a lovely bottle of wine and some doggy treats on arrival - the dog loved the wine and the treats were delicious ;) It genuinely is a perfect place to stay and we do miss it already. Reedham’s also a real hidden gem of a village and the residents are so friendly. We definitely want to stay again, so hope to be able to book for a second time. A huge thank you to the owners, it’s a lovely house! x

Dear John, I am sorry to hear that you had problems with the main shower but am very glad that it was the only downside to your stay and that you enjoyed your holiday at Foundry Cottage. In fact, our plumber had been out to look at the shower just prior to your visit and had made some adjustments. As you did not contact ourselves or the housekeeping team, we assumed that everything was okay so are very disappointed to find out that you were still having difficulties. Now that you have told us, and thank you very much for doing so as we can take action, we have arranged for the plumber to go back and work on it again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage in a great location with plenty of villages and coastal towns within a short drive and a riverside walk towards Reedham Ferry meaning there is something for everyone, Nicely decorated and rooms of a good size with plenty of storage."

Small touches like games in a cupboard and a welcome bottle of wine added to the relaxing feel. A small issue with the overhead shower and not being able to reduce the temperature from boiling meant we couldn’t use it but there was a handheld showerhead so it wasn’t a major problem. Two pubs on the river within a very short walk and a great deli and tearoom also very close by. Would happily stay at Foundry Cottage again.

Dear David, I am so pleased you enjoyed the cottage and its wonderful location. You are right that it is easy to explore the area by foot, car or bike and there is something for everyone to enjoy. There is also the train station, a ten minute walk away, with trains taking you to the beautiful city of Norwich (20 minutes journey). I am sorry that you had difficulties with the shower and glad it was not too much of an inconvenience for you as you could use the alternative shower. We are currently addressing this problem. • "A fantastic little cottage that offers so much."

It is in a great location which is very quiet but extremely close to everything you need. For the date of the cottage the room sizes are very generous and have been very tastefully decorated as well as well maintained. The only issue we encountered was the overhead shower, the water temperature could not be altered so it was always hot, which at points was hard so stand under. Other than that it was excellent, so much so we are seriously considering rebooking for next year.

Dear Ashley, We are delighted that you enjoyed our cottage and found everything to your satisfaction. Its location is something we love too; close to the beautiful River Yare and other amenities and yet nestled away in the tranquility of the Norfolk Broads. I am sorry you encountered difficulties with the shower. Normally you push the button in and turn to regulate the water temperature. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will send our plumber out to have a look at what is going on. We would love to welcome back again to Foundry Cottage next year. Kind regards, Oonagh and Jon Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at foundry cottage over the Christmas and New Year break."

The cottage had all the amenities we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the location was nice and quiet. As a family with young children, we definitely made use of the washing machine and dryer, which where in the utility room outside. That meant occasionally running through rain to get to it but it also made the cottage peaceful quiet (at least when the kids were sleeping) so that was fine by us! Oonagh and Jon even set up Christmas decorations for us knowing we had some little ones coming along, which was really special. Thanks a lot for the stay, we had great, relaxing time.

  • "Foundry Cottage is in a great location for exploring The Norfolk Broads, and has been tastefully & thoughtfully decorated throughout."

It would benefit from a more detailed cleaning & maintenance schedule on changeover days to include carrying out minor repairs (such as fixing the kitchen door and weeding the garden) and an inventory check to ensure cutlery & crockery are clean. It is the attention to detail that is lacking and letting this property down. These issues could be easily fixed by the owners and shouldn't put people off from booking, but should be addressed to ensure Foundry Cottage remains worthy of it's 4 star status.

Dear Mrs Pearson, thank you for your helpful review. We try very hard to ensure that all our guests have a lovely time and an enjoyable holiday at Foundry Cottage. We have employed someone to take care of weeds in the garden but unfortunately, until now, they have not been able to work on changeover day itself. This was resolved last week but we are sorry that this was not possible at the time of your visit. Thank you for pointing out the problem with the kitchen door. This has been fixed. It is always very helpful if guests report any problems so they can be resolved straight away. Cleanliness is very important to us and Foundry Cottage has consistently received high ratings in this respect. We have an excellent housekeeping team who always strive hard to make sure the cottage is left in a high quality state for our guests. They are happy to make themselves available by phone if there ever are any issues and their number is listed on the useful contacts list. Once again, thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your opportunity to explore the lovely Norfolk Broads from Foundry Cottage. Property Owner

The kitchen was very well equipped. Lots of storage for clothes. All stylishly put together with some lovely touches. Matt couldn't have been more helpful when we had a small problem . If I was to nit pick I'd say I was expecting a small back garden to sit in but it was a area to the side of the property. This wouldn't put us off booking again as we had a lovely time and our dog was quite secure and well catered for welcomed where ever we went. • "The cottage was very comfortable and the hosts had provided milk and wine, which was a nice touch."

It was very well equipped, with everything you need to make a home from home. The only two slight downsides are: The ceilings are very low, and this is made worse in the kitchen as suspended spot lights have been fitted. My husband is 6"2 and was continually banging his head! Also the bathroom is downstairs, which isn't as convenient in the night.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased Foundry Cottage was a very comfortable and well equipped ‘home from home` for you both. We have taken your comment about the kitchen light on board and have had it replaced immediately. We hope you had a lovely stay and would love to welcome you back at some point in the future.
