  • "Such a beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting."

The cottage had everything we needed with extra perks, such as a lovely welcome pack, starter pack of sachets of tea, coffee, dishwasher tablet, washing up sponges, tea towels. I had brought my own but it was a nice touch. Hairdryer, logs and kindling for the log burner and even food for the ducks! We restored the wood and duck food for the next guests. The cottage is about 15 minutes drive from Wells and it was ideal for dog walking. We’d get in the car, park up and have the most beautiful walks on the beach. We did this every morning and then come ‘home’ for coffee and plan our day. Sandringham is only 20 minutes drive and is such a beautiful estate. Again, dog friendly walks. Even the restaurant will accept dogs. For us it was about unwinding and relaxing. We would go out each morning, maybe have a spot of lunch out and then come back mid to late afternoon, put some logs on the wood burner, play a few games and watch a film. Order a takeaway or rustle up something and unwind. Just beautiful. We would definitely return. Thank you so much the the use of this beautiful cottage

  • "The welcoming packs were very much appreciated and the barn had everything that we required."

The central heating was efficient and we found no need to light the wood burner. The garden was perfect for the dogs. It’s is a great location to visit many places within the area. However, it was very disappointing to find a pile of dirty clothes behind the toy box in the bedroom my grandson was sleeping in. Also in this bedroom the light shade is completely perished and hanging off the rim, it has been glued once already on another part of it. We were unable to use the dishwasher as it is covered in limescale and it requires a good clean and replenished with salt and rinse aid. As a result of this we had to wash all crockery and cutlery before use. As a general point the cleaning could be a higher standard. We cleaned before we left. Had this not occurred we would have rated higher as it’s a lovely barn.

The property itself was furnished to a very high standard and the listing was accurate. We have stayed in several Sykes properties and this has to be the best yet. The highlight for our grand children had to be the pond outside the kitchen window with the huge array of wildfowl that needed feeding each day.

  • "Really lovely property in a quiet location."

My children (5 and 2) loved watching the ducks and bunnies every morning- this was a definite highlight of the stay. Unfortunately there was no duck feed left in the tin to be able to feed the ducks- as suggested in the notes left. Really cosy and comfy place to stay- we really enjoyed. Lovely walk in shower, comfy beds, space around the table for all 6 of us and my 5 year old loved sleeping on the top bunk. Added bonus of games, toys and books for children to use. Would suggest taking own towels for anyone going soon- towels are quite small and some have marks/are a bit shabby. The owners could do with investing in some new towels if they want to continue to provide them- or ask guests to bring own. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

  • "What can I say about Far Barn."

....upon entering the driveway we were greeted by a well maintained group of barn conversions and cottages which surround a beautiful pond full of comical ducks! Far Barn welcomed us with a delightfully enclosed garden (perfect for our dog). Once we stepped inside we we greeted with a lovely welcome pack. The Barn itself is converted to a high standard and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The beds are comfortable, although we would have preferred a king size bed. Unfortunately, the playstation does not work which was disappointing for our boys. The shower is good and there was enough hot water for all 4 of to shower. We did not use the bath, so cannot comment on that. The kitchen is well equipped, with a large fridge freezer and washing machine. The farm shop across the main road is excellent, we can also recommended the Aviator pub which is a 10 minute walk away. There is not much else within walking distance but if you're happy to drive there are lots of beaches and villages to explore that are only a short drive away. All in all we would recommended this property.

  • "A beautiful little cottage."

Immaculately clean and with everything you could possibly need. The log burner was wonderful. We stayed here to attend the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, which was equally amazing and I would also highly recommend. We arrived to a nice surprise of some biscuits, crisps and a bottle of wine, which was a lovely touch. Morrisons is just around the corner, which is very handy. Three small things to note: - the decking does get very slippery (I’m pretty sure I did read this warning somewhere). But even whilst being careful, my little boy slipped over. No harm done, but just be careful. - It was quite difficult navigating the range cooker as most of the labelling on the dials has worn off, so it was difficult to establish what temperature and settings the oven was on. - Just be mindful the Master bedroom is on a mezzanine level above the kitchen. Whilst there are privacy screens, whoever is sleeping in the Master will likely need to be the last to go to sleep and the first to wake up. All in all, a great little place and we will definitely return!

The garden was an excellent space. I have holidayed in the UK for the last 25 years staying in holiday cottages so I have a lot to compare it with! How delighted we were on our arrival to find a property surpassed our expectations. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained, it ticked all our boxes. Tea, coffer etc to put you on while you unpack, plenty of draw space. An abundance of games for children. Wifi can be a bit hit and miss but not a big problem. What you see on the booking site is what you get and more. Far barn is well placed for sightseeing in every direction. Well placed for supermarkets and petrol . We didn’t realise Sandringham issues a limited amount of tickets and has to be booked well in advance. Having said that we had a lovely lunch at Sandringham restaurant on the estate, not overpriced like the gift shop. Check out the Aviator for excellent food and delightful decor, on the doorstep. We call at Sculthorp Mill but found it too expensive to eat on a normal Monday. Pensthorp Natural park and tea room is a delight like a secret garden. Fakenham garden Center as a nice tearoom and good food. I would eagerly recommend Far Barn, it helped to make a memorable experience and a great holiday.

  • "The cottage was disappointing and the owners attitude to cleanliness poor."

I had to clean the fridge before putting in any shopping. The making of the beds was slipshod and simple things like doing up the buttons on the duvert cover not done. The open bath/toilet arrangement on the mezzanine bedroom had no effective ventilation so smells and steam stayed in the eaves and wafted down to the ground floor. The main bed on the ground floor was very uncomfortable and bits of the bedstead where missing. The kitchen area was not particularly clean and we refrained from using the oven. The owner did not respect our privacy and contractors were booked to be on site for 2 days without our knowledge - seeing someone in the garden at 8.30am is very surprising to say the least. They left when challenged. We wont be going back.

In regards to the feedback left following your stay at Far Barn we feel a response is necessary. We made you aware of the storm damage to the fence before your stay, and offered to provide a full refund if you decided you did not want to continue with the holiday. At this point we communicated that this would be fixed during your stay. We were not made aware of any cleanliness issues whilst you were at Far Barn, if we had have been told there were issues we would have acted on these immediately. As you can see from our recent feedback cleanliness has not been an issue and we have received top scores for cleanliness from the last few reviews. There have also been no other complaints regarding the comfort of the beds, and feel this is a personal issue, we will of course monitor future feedback relating to this. Property Owner

Great location, felt very central to all that we wanted to visit. The barn itself is lovely, very cosy with the fire going but if that’s too much effort the radiators are very efficient. The furniture and fittings all good quality. The only thing that let this property down was the cleanliness. We had to clean from top to bottom, , kitchen bathroom and bedrooms. I fully understand that the ceilings are extremely high and difficult to reach so I will let those cobwebs pass, but hanging from the pictures on the walls, easily reached. The fridge and cutlery drawers we full of marks and bits of food. Stained bedsheets, not acceptable. We left the barn cleaner than we arrived. That said, I would stay again, for the location. It’s a very spacious, well thought out conversion with some nice little touches to make it feel like home. Certain pieces of furniture are looking a bit ‘tired’, probably only to be expected when you have so many different guests staying. For example the dining chair coverings have all been chewed by a dog I presume?? However, the cleanliness is certainly not up to standard. It isn’t even the standard you would expect pre COVID, let alone now when it is meant to be super clean!! The oven was filthy, the freezer was dirty, there was dust & muck everywhere, under all the units, behind the TV, even old dog treats covered in hair under the unit in the bunk bedroom. The beams in the room haven’t been cleaned for months, not just weeks, the dust up there glistens like silver it’s so thick. This property should have been deep cleaned before anyone was even allowed to stay. I left a note for the cleaner & have taken photos for proof. Beautiful place to stay, great fun feeding the ducks every day & watching the rabbits playing outside. The garden is completely enclosed so is safe for children or dogs.

Throngs of tiny birds coming to the window and in the evening lots of baby bunnies. They thought it was magical. We would love to come again for a norfolk weekend. The town holds a popular Thursday market which takes over most of the town centre with local traders and those from further afield selling a wide selection of goods. The town also plays host to a Farmers’ Market, monthly on the fourth Saturday of every month, ideal for stocking up on fresh local produce.
