  • "A very nice cottage."

Very clean and with everything you could need for your stay including even Netflix! The location is ideal for most local places with Hunstanton only a few miles away. I got my car on the front garden but I have a small Micra anything bigger would not fit! Although you can easily park a bit down the road out of the way. If I had a bigger car would we go back - YES we would. A really enjoyable stay.

Thank you, for your very positive feedback. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your break. Thank you again for leaving the cottage clean and tidy. Best wishes Jacky and Richard Property Owner

  • "We felt that the property was tired and required a refresh."

Minimal light in the house and extremely poor light from the fittings. Heating was very good and the property clean. The parking in front of the property is impossible and dangerous due to a very busy road however parking in Strickland Ave was a good option. We were very disappointed with this property and for us it didn’t reflect previous reviews.

Thank you for your feedback. We were surprised by some of your comments, as the vast majority of our guests leave us feedback in excess of 90%. We pride ourselves on being considerate and responsible owners. We decorate throughout the cottage annually in order to keep it fresh and appealing. If you had contacted either Sykes or ourselves on one of the three contact numbers provided we would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss your concerns during your stay. .. Its a very small parking area & not easy to get over the high curb Also rather difficult to back out into the often busy main road.... had a few tricky moments during our stay........ A dropped curb would help access for vehicles

Thank you for your feedback. the size of the drive and lack of dropped kerb are stated in the cottage description, and are consistent with the age and character of the property. Regards Jacky and Richard Property Owner

We enjoyed christening the games set in the conservatory. Despite being on a busy road, the cottage was quiet and peaceful. Snettisham was a good location for holidaying in North West Norfolk, being nicely between Hunstanton and Sandringham. Only tiny point worth noting is that (as others have said) the area in front of the cottage is only just big enough for a small or medium (at a push) car. However, if you have a larger car, there is space just along the road a very short way on a side street, so not a deal-breaker.

During the heatwave last week it was a pleasure to go inside into the cool main part of the cottage. there is a lovely conservatory on the back good to sit in on cooler days. The ducks are very amusing also there seems to be a local owl to listen to at night. Snettisham is a good base to explore the lovely surrounding area and has plenty of local places to eat. The information given on the website is accurate but the photos do not give the full extent of the size of the property- it goes back and back with a lovely garden behind. The cottage is provided with everything you need and is warm and comfortable. Jacky gave us full control over the heating, which we found to be perfect. The parking is exactly as is said in the description. Our Golf fit on it and we found no problem getting onto it. Our daughter had brought her car, which she parked 50 yards away on a residential street with no issues. • "There were a few problems, mainly with the parking on the ‘driveway’."

It is awkward to get on it as there is always traffic coming both ways. It was a very busy road which was not mentioned. The car also stuck out over the path. The settees were not at all comfortable, good job we were out all day! The heating is left on all day and night so in the middle of the night it comes on and wakes you up, so we had to turn it right down, consequently it was cold in the morning. To get hot water to flow in the kitchen we had to run out about a gallon of water every time. In these days of conversation that is a lot of water wasted every day. The beds in the second bedroom were really children’s beds and not at all suitable for adults. On the plus side the property was very clean and very very warm. Wouldn’t book the same one again though.

Dear Mr Oliver I was sorry to hear via your feedback that you were unhappy with some aspects of your recent stay in Duck cottage. I agree that Lynn Road can be busy at certain times, . The lack of a dropped kerb and a description of the drives dimensions are included in the cottages description. The 2 bunk beds in the smaller room are 2 foot 6 single beds and are not marketed as children's beds. They are the same length as most other beds We had left the heating on constant as the temperature had varied such allot over the recent weeks in East Anglia, going from very cold to wet and mild very quickly. I had hoped that this would give our guests more flexibility to adjust the temperature of the cottage to meet their needs. Rather then leaving the heating to come on at scheduled times throughout the day. I had left our contact details in the cottage and do wish you had called us on one of the three numbers we provided. I would have been more then happy to talk you through adjusting the programmer from constant to timed. Or coming out to adjust the programmer to meet your needs. There is also allot of information regarding adjusting the programmer in the cottage information folder. The programmer is in the smaller wardrobe of the master bedroom. We do take all customer feedback seriously as we like to think that are customers have an enjoyable break in Duck Cottage, and in future will ask the client whether they prefer the heating to be left on timed or constant. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for leaving the cottage so very clean and tidy upon your departure. Yours Jacky Richardson. Property Owner

About the location

SNETTISHAM

Heacham 3 miles; Royal Sandringham 4 miles; Hunstanton 5 miles.

Snettisham is a traditional Norfolk village, with many of its houses built from the local iron-rich carr stone, which has an attractive golden-brown colouring. Due to this, the buildings are known locally as “gingerbread houses”. Village amenities include general stores, a Post Office, 2 inns, a bistro and a regular bus service to the bustling, family-friendly seaside resort of Hunstanton and historic King’s Lynn. The church of St Mary sits alone on top of the hill and is certainly worthy of a look inside at the exquisitely decorated tracery flowers on the west window. There is an RSPB bird sanctuary close to the beach, which is three miles away, and the ancient Peddars Way public footpath runs near to the village. Park Farm is on the edge of the village, and is a working farm with year-round activities for all the family, including a 45-minute “deer safari” and the chance to feed some of the animals. The Royal Estate of Sandringham, whose impressive house, gardens and church are open to the public, is nearby, as are the plant farm, tea rooms and gift shop at Norfolk Lavender, England's premier lavender farm.
