  • "The mattress on the double bed was awful."

It had no spring to it and was flat as a pancake. Unfortunately this really put a dampener on things as we didn’t sleep well the whole week. Everything else was amazing though.

We are always so excited to hear of an amazing stay at St. Michael's House and it was lovely to meet you. The mattress was new at the start of the summer season, however we have since replaced it as we value everyone's personal review as we strive for 100% feedback. Property Owner

  • "We booked both St."

Michael's House and St. Michael's Cottage for a family holiday, replacing a Villa previously booked in France; and we were really glad that we did. The two properties were very spacious (particularly after we lost 3 family members who were isolating from Covid) and extremely well laid out. The weather wasn't perfect (the heat wave arriving the week after we left), but there was plenty to do in the area (we particularly recommend St Peter's Brewery and the Flint Vineyard) and the garden had plenty of room to relax, play and barbecue. We had our new 5 month old grandson with us and everything worked perfectly for 3 generations of the family. I would definitely recommend these properties for a family holiday and we will certainly be coming back again. Mike Sharman PS: the enormous TV in the main sitting room was fantastic on which to watch England win 3 of its Euro football matches!

We had such a lovely time. Dogs enjoyed the garden which was secure and we arrived with three dogs and left with three dogs- always a bonus :-) Suffolk is beautiful and we found loads to do. We had an elderly relative with us so we needed a car as couldn't walk to the shop or pub.

This house had everything we needed for our break. So well equipped. Even provided dog towels! So much space - lots of hiding places for hide and seek!! The child loved having two staircases. Beds were comfortable. So many footpaths great for walking and running . Location is so lovely and quiet . We hired both properties so that worked well. Would highly recommend these properties, the owners are lovely too , and very helpful.

  • "For a house of this size I would expect to have a tumble dryer available, there was an airer but during the wet weather this is not sufficient."

A shaver socket in one of the bathrooms would also be useful. With the lovely woodburner available a supply of logs would be much appreciated at very little cost to the owners.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We take all feedback into account and look at the feasibility of implementing it into our 600 year old, Grade II Listed Property. It was lovely meeting you and trust you had a fabulous birthday week. Property Owner

We took our two dogs with us they really enjoy the fantastic garden, plenty of wild life popping in to say hello. The scenery around the cottage was beautiful. All in all we would highly recommend the cottage came home very relaxed.

  • "Just returned from visiting St Michaels House with my two teenagers, elderly mother and dog ."

The house is absolutely wonderful. Spacious, spotlessly clean, quirky, extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a self catering holiday including dog bowls, poo bags and dog towels. The rear garden is huge - just perfect for dogs and kids. It has a patio area with 2 picnic tables, additional fold up chairs, BBQ and washing line. The internet service was really good and reliable, and the TV has lots of channels. There are lots of books, games and puzzles available in the lounge to use - my kids discovered playing cards can be just as much fun as staring at their phones for hours on end ! Although the house is situated in a very quiet rural location it isn’t too far from the main roads that lead to the surrounding towns and villages and only about half an hour drive from the coast. Dunwich is a great dog friendly beach allowing dogs all year round, plenty of free parking and a cafe with lots of outdoor seating - they provide water bowls for your dogs. There are 2 pubs within a short drive - The Rumburgh Buck is the closest it has a good reputation (we didn’t try this one as there was nowhere to park, the small car park was full ) so we carried on to the Wissett Plough and we were not disappointed. The staff are very friendly, they make a real fuss of dogs, and most importantly the food is really good. There is a Co-op supermarket about 15 minutes drive away in Halesworth for all your groceries. If you don’t fancy cooking you can get food deliveries from several local take aways through Just Eat. All in all a great holiday cottage - we would definitely return

All was perfect and welcoming when we arrived, and a great house for us all to explore - two staircases makes for good fun! As did the ground floor and first floor "circuits" through various rooms. My only negative comment is that there were no SMALL sharp knives, otherwise wonderfully appointed! We found some good places to visit - St Peter's Brewery for one, very close by, good for a run or a stroll, depending on who you are! Then various coastal places - Sea Life Centre at Great Yarmouth, Southwold and Aldeburgh, and a great trip to RSPB Minsmere.

  • "Wonderful cottage, manage comfortably with 7 adults and 6 childern under 7."

Plenty of space and a brilliant sized garden. One of the cleanest places I've stayed at! Only draw back is 1 shower, just made mornings a little more regimented. A great place to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the time with the family.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you had a great time. Due to the 600 year old age of this listed property it is not easily possible to change the current bathroom configurations. However in addition to the shower there are 2 additional baths as described in the property description. The owner has been looking into this matter for some time now and has high hopes of adding an additional shower in the future Property Owner

  • "St Michael's House is certainly a period property and is indeed listed under English Heritage."

It is a charming property, and had ample room for all 8 of us. A couple of issues arose during the week, and Sykes and the owner and corrected these. However, one of the issues had clearly been there for some time looking at the comments book. It is a lovely place for a family to stay, and our grandchildren enjoyed the garden and we had two barbeques. The kitchen diner is good for a relaxed breakfast and then using the huge dining room table for evening meals. The dishwasher and washing machine worked perfectly. Our criticism would be that the refurbishment of the property is not yet complete. Consequently, some of the windows would not open upstairs, which made a couple of the rooms extremely stifling in the present hot weather. Perhaps a couple of fans could be provided. I am aware that we don't normally have this sort of hot weather for weeks on end, however sleeping was really quite uncomfortable, especially in the single room upstairs, and the small double room. If I were to be pernickety, I would also suggest that one shower for 8-10 people causes some logistical problems. A lovely area, within easy reach of the sea at Dunwich, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, Bungay and Beccles are lovely little towns, and Norwich is not that far if you wish to go there.

The owner thanks you for your feedback and would like you to know that they have since provided additional information to guests on how to open the historic windows in both bedrooms detailed. Due to the historic age of the property, unfortunately it is not possible to change the bathroom configuration. However in addition to the shower there are 2 additional baths as described in the property description. Property Owner

There was plenty of room indoors and outdoors for our party of 5+2 dogs. It was comfortably warm all day and lovely to come home to after our country walks. Sofas and beds were comfortable and the house was well equipped to suit our holiday needs. It's a very rural setting, though not isolated, which that suited us as we were able to set out directly from the house for our walks with the dogs on the numerous country paths. Overall, the house had a lovely welcoming feeling and our hosts were generous both in their welcoming treats and in the degree of thought they gave to ensuring our comfort and enjoyment of their property.

  • "Overall the house met our requirements very well."

We would like to query the suitability of the downstairs 'bedroom'. It didn't have any privacy ..... window and door with glass panel open to the hallway. The owner did put up a voile type curtain when we mentioned this but it was far from adequate. The room was very cold, it looked as if it had been a porch of some sort originally. There were no facilities for clothe storage. We didn't feel it met the needs of a child or elderly person. The upstairs bedrooms were very comfortable, beds and linen very good. We felt that in a large party it would be who 'got the short straw' scenario with the downstairs bedroom. Suggest it is converted back to access to the back garden, there is an outside door in the room. This was the only negative to the house. The house is well equipped and situated in a lovely peaceful area. The garden was fantastic for the dogs.
