  • "2nd time stay in 12 month!"

Perfect for relaxing, right on the broads perfect access for paddle boarding , day boat hire 50 yards from cottage, pub restaurant not much further! Spacious clean and inviting! Will be booking again in near future

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday in Norfolk but Heron cottage didn't come up to our expectation, it was adequate but that's the best I can say about it."

The first impression was that the outside areas need a good clean, inside the oven needs cleaning and when I opened the microwave it was splattered with curry and it took ages to get rid of the curry smell. The tin opener is rusty I am glad I took my own. We were also disappointed that we couldn't use our Cobb bbq, it wasn't until we read the folder at the property that it wasn't allowed, if it had been in the online info I wouldn't have booked this cottage, we were looking forward to buying Norfolk's lovely produce and cooking it outside. A TV in the bedroom would have been good as there is no WiFi but that's only a personal thing.

The setting is idyllic if you like boats, and very peaceful. Easy access to most of the broads and a brilliant hotel just yards away. We wouls definitely use again. Loved it.

Also possibly the cleanest property we have ever stayed in! The only thing we felt was missing was a stool/ chair in the bedroom as i had to sit on the floor to dry my hair! (& would be very difficult if you had mobility issues). Otherwise it would be perfect!

I'm delighted that you like Heron so much Robert particularly as you made the original booking back in 2019!! It was obviously worth the wait and your positive comments are very welcome indeed. We hope to see you again Paul Corbett Property Owner

  • "Not as clean as I would have liked."

We had to wash crockery and cutlery: food on cutlery, tea stains in cups. Several handles on kitchen cupboards sticky. Fridge a bit grubby. I felt the need to clean all the kitchen, especially in the light of Covid.

  • "The only tricky bit was parking as the cottage is very adjacent to the boatyard."

There was always two or three large vessels on cradles being worked upon, plus having to squeeze past three, sometimes four other vehicles to reach the designated parking space outside the cottage.

  • "The locality was amazing."

Lots of boats and wildlife and a good pub on our doorstep. The property had two patios , and the upstairs one had a good view of the water. Sutton Staithes was within easy access of all attractions in Norfolk. We loved it.

Thank you for your feedback. We must advise that the bed was a brand new king size bed with fluffy bedding and we are sorry that you found it to be uncomfortable. Property Owner

  • "A lovely bright well appointed spacious apartment."

We loved the location right next to the river and boatyard very handy for boat hire , only 1 minute walk to a nice pub . If we had to criticise anything it would be there was a bit of noise from the road whilst sitting on balcony but the property description did state this and it wasn’t a problem at night. We were also a bit surprised there was no wi-fi but it was fine. Would definitely recommend this property.

  • "Parking is the main problem."

Removing the raised garden wall from outside the properties would allow cars to be parked closer to the front of the properties leaving more room for other vehicles to pass.

A little gem, bit tight with the parking, but ideally placed to explore northeast Norfolk. Cottage quirky with the living quarter being on first floor, but good balcony and view across the river. Excellent hotel within 2 mins of the cottage, very pleasant staff and very good meals. Reasonably quiet even with the main road just over the hedge. All in all, a lovely place for a few days away.

Heron is a light and airy contemporary property. In particular the modern large modern bathroom with walk in shower has had very positive comments from other guests. We are also complimented on Heron's excellent location, nearby amenities, the proximity of some of Norfolks wonderful beaches and the Broads. Heron has a dedicated parking space and our Guest Information Book in the cottage has guidance on parking. Property Owner

  • "Heron cottage is simply delightful."

The owner's have done everything possible to make the cottage comfortable and included all essential (and even some non-essential !) equipment. One comment I should like to make concerns the actual description of the premises. I think it should be made clear that it is situated through a boat yard although this does not cause any problem and the road is close giving quite a lot of traffic noise which although not noticed inside is all too obvious when sitting out on the balcony enjoying the beautiful marshes and boat moorings in the comfort of a really great set of patio chairs and table. This said we loved the place and would recommend it to anyone.

It was also a great location to visit the sights on the coast and around the broads. Yes we would definitely visit again, thank you. This isn't a criticism but there were a lot of wasps on the upper balcony and we had to keep the door closed, I don't know if there is a nest nearby.

As the apt is situated in the boatyard area we would not return. The road that runs alongside is very noisy but bearable. Having said that nothing detracted from having a great holiday.Norfolk is wonderful.

About the location

SUTTON

Wroxham 9 miles; Norwich 16 miles.

Sutton is a picturesque village at the eastern end of Sutton Broad, just south of the market town of Stalham, on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. The local pub is the Sutton Saithe Hotel, set beside the River Ant, which flows downstream to Barton Broad, How Hill and Ludham Bridge, through some of the most beautiful Norfolk Broads scenery, and there is a garden centre and a pottery in the village. At nearby Stalham is the popular Museum of the Broads. Just outside the village is Sutton Mill, a restored 18th-century windmill which rises to a remarkable 9 stories in height. Norwich lies further afield, a wonderful fusion of the modern and historic, one complementing the other. Like any great city its centre is easy to walk around and boasts a river at its heart.
