  • "Really enjoyed our stay but there were a couple of things we noted to feedback."

When we arrived there was a vase of dead daffodils on the dining room table . This was not very welcoming. The small freezer in the utility room and the utility room work top was dirty so I had to clean these. The microwave in the kitchen although clean was very rusty inside and therefore off putting so could really do with purchasing a new one bearing in mind microwaves are very cheap. I had to buy some descaler for the kettle this was very scaled up and again a little off putting. The location of the cottage is great and gives easy access to all the areas we wanted to visit.

  • "Recently refurbished and in a lovely quiet spot."

However, steep stairs with only one handrail was a negative given the only toilet and bathroom is downstairs.

  • "The internet didn’t work the whole time we were there despite contacting Sykes several times."

The dustbins were full and not emptied and it was hot all week therefore they did smell. This was also pointed out to them. My replies to their queries when I did get a signal on my phone were largely unreliable as they repeatedly asked if it had been rebooted and was it successful. The 4G on my phone was intermittent as the service was poor or non existent so we couldn’t rely on that either to research places of interest or order food online nor download books. Not a place to stay if you rely on the internet. This should have been pointed out when booking. The cottage is in a beautiful position and very comfortable with everything there you would expect.

After parking up in the off-road parking area, step into the living/dining room and you’ll immediately be at ease, with two settees, a wall-mounted Smart TV and an electric fire inviting you to sit down and relax.

Allow the designated chef to get acquainted in the kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, so you won’t have to lift a finger when cleaning up!

Next to this is a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, allowing you to pop your clothes on a spin.

A back door leads out to the rear garden, offering a large patio area and lawn, plus a gate that takes you into a secret garden area.

Freshen up in the family bathroom, choosing between a bath or shower, before heading upstairs and kicking back in either of the bedrooms; there are two doubles and a single on offer.

Get to know your surroundings better as you wander the local area, with the wetland areas that surround the property being a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and offers a chance to spot rare birds.

Just along the road from Gamekeepers Cottage is a superb hotel and restaurant, Briarfields, offering a hearty menu with sea and salt marsh views, making it a perfect choice if you wish to eat out.

Just miles away lies the village of Thornham, popular with walkers, photographers and bird watchers, plus there are three pubs/restaurants and food outlets to explore.

Continue along the coast to Hunstanton, where you can dip your toes in the sea and build sandcastles on the beach, meet local marine life at the Sea Life Centre and stroll around the beautiful Esplanade Gardens.
