  • "We were really impressed with the spaciousness and comfort of the cottage and indeed the courtyard layout of the cottage complex."

If there was any slight disappointment it was that the so-called private courtyard was cut off from the main courtyard and wasn't very inviting. We never did use it. Other than that, many thanks.

  • "The overall condition of the property was not as up together compared to others we have stayed at, the cobwebs in every room made it look as though cleaning of the property was minimal."

There were stains and marks on the settee, curtains, walls and light shade, the kitchen smelt stale.

  • "This is our 4th visit to Willow, and as always it was immaculately clean, and the addition of two new blue sofas was a welcome improvement."

Our stay was generally very pleasant, but we feel that it is time to replace the mattress which is very lumpy and showing its age by the number of people having slept on. Sadly, in the week we spent at Willow, I only managed about 4 hours sleep each night, as I was so uncomfortable. You also need to remove the wording of ‘spa Bath’ on your literature, as we discovered this was no longer in place.

Overall it was very comfortable and cosy, it was very cold when we were there so we appreciated the heating and hot water in abundance. It is a quiet location but slightly out of the way. Well equipped and comfortable, we enjoyed our stay.

The price was very reasonable. The bed was very comfortable and facilities in the property were good. Having stayed at quite a few different places the only issue was the cleanliness. By and large it was good, but just misses the boat on being excellent. Wouldn’t deter us from rebooking though.

There were spiders in the rooms - usually small. We noticed lots of spiders webs in the radiator gaps (between front and back panels) on the walls and on the inside of the only opening window in the lounge. A good spring clean necessary!

Also disappointed in the fact that the shower fitting was over the bath and not a separate shower. As an elderly couple it was not possible to stand in the bath and shower safely. We were also VERY DISAPOINTED in the fact that there was no TV in the bedroom.

Property was clean and tidy and well equipped and it was lovely to have some milk in the fridge on arrival. One very small criticism was that the bath towels provided were quite small but that really is a little thing. Everything else was lovely location was very peaceful and easy access to the A1067 to head out for the day to North West Norfolk which was the plan.

  • "We keep returning to North Norfolk and there are many attractions we have yet to visit."

The approach to Willow is along single-track roads which might have been difficult for a larger vehicle than our small camper van, but the roads were quiet in April. The cleanliness was generally good "within reach" but there was dust on the beams and cobwebs in the high ceiling. It was an enjoyable holiday with lots to see nearby.

  • "A very nice stay at Willow."

Although it was Spring half term with 2 of the barns occupied by families with children we still found it very quiet and peaceful. A lovely hideaway well off the beaten track. Only minor gripes. The electric shower was next to useless, it could really do with a mains fed shower. The heating boiler fixed in a cupboard in the lounge was very noisy when running but worked well and kept the barn nice and warm. The Wi-Fi was very patchy and slow and kept dropping out but we managed to get by. Overall a very nice week’s holiday in a well equipped property.

my husband is disabled and i had to wheel him in and out from cottage to car park frequently.with at least 6 other cars in the car park it was often difficult to park. There were no walks nearby as the road was single trackand wasnt safe for anybody. In the cottage there wasnt a window to open and leave open on a hot night which left us very stuffy. This is not the standard we have become accustoomed with using Sykes cottages and felt so unhappy we came home early by one day. • "On arrival all seemed well apart from a distinct smell of dampness."

That evening we had a bath and a musty smell was more profound, on close inspection the jets in the bath were black which gave the impression of being mouldy, mould was also evident on some of the tiles. The following morning in daylight we noticed paint under the radiator in bathroom was flaking and there were some paint powdering on the floor which had crumbled from the damp. Also damp under bedroom radiator. Noticed a lot of Lacewing insects on the ceilings and walls, and I mean a lot... spent most of the weekend disposing of the ones I could reach. Lots of cobwebs on the high ceilings which I was unable to reach, and also in most rooms throughout the cottage.. Blind on kitchen door was dirty and stained, there were no cleaning products for bath, sink or toilet (no bleach) and no cleaning product for kitchen sink, hob or worktops. Sofas on verge of collapse, glass on most windows was dirty but more so on double doors in lounge. On an upnote we found the bed really comfortable and clean

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We do strive to reach our customers expectations but on this occasion we have clearly failed to do that and for that we apologise. In the New Year maintenance is going to be taking place on all our cottages. We take all our guest comments very seriously and hope that you will return to us again in 2022. Property Owner

  • "The facilities were good and the cottage was pleasant enough."

However, some of the details that we have come to expect renting holiday cottages let this place down a little and would make a difference if addressed. Glassware was limited and rather small, knives were blunt (a sharpener wouldn’t go amiss) tatty frying pan, pealing paint in the bath room, overly hard mattress, no cleaning products for bathroom or surface cleaner for the kitchen. Very few cupboard staples (usually left by previous visitors) which tend to get added to. No leaflets or guides in cottage of local activities and places to visit.

The location of the property was chosen to make this easy, plus give us options for days out. It was also a very quiet place. It was spacious for two and well equipped. Our only issue - although it was too cold to sit out in our small 'yard' - was that it was not inviting to do so. It would be nice to see the fencing painted a lighter colour with perhaps a climbing plant on a trellis.

  • "Whilst the actual cottage was a good size, we had a lot of issues, to start with we tried to get wi-if which the listing says it has and when we couldn't login into it I asked the owner and I was informed that Willow is the worst cottage for logging in to internet but if I stand by the back door in the kitchen I should be able to pick it up!"

! I needed wi-if in the bedroom during the night for our home alarm notifications had it gone off whilst we were away. The did eventually allow us to pick up her own personal wi-if on my mobile phone however we were told the next day it was now working and when I asked about allowing me to have it for my iPad as we needed to look up places to visit in the area. It was working but it was again only if I sat in the kitchen at the corner of the table by the door that I could pick up a signal! The day before we were due to leave we saw someone fitting what looked like boosters to the cottages, which was a little late for us. With regards to the comfort of the cottage no where was comfortable This was lacking in the bedroom and sitting room as the bed well mattress was so soft (worn out) that when I sat on the bed I could feel the base, it was shear luck that I brought a throw in the car so I put that folded on the sheet on top of the mattress however it still didn't completely make it comfortable and I didn't sleep very well for the 6nights stay. It didn't help as the two sofas were so low as the cushions/bases were very worn out and you sank down so low, So these too could do with replacing. I put one seat cushion on top of another and a pillow on this but still it slumped down very low! The shower was a big issue as it too is quite old and needs updating or a real power clean. Jets useless apart from the water pressure not working and water just trickled out at the bottom of the shower head the actual fitting for the shower head had been put on the wrong side of the rail so it was almost against the wall, my husband changed it round but it still was not any good and as I have long hair I couldn't wash my hair all week. I couldn't shower either so ended up having to strip wash. We should have asked the owners about these issues but you felt they were not involved with running the place as it was done via another company Acorn Cottages which we did not know this at the time of booking. Also to suggest an idea that might make the sitting room a bit more appealing re the boiler In the corner on the wall, maybe this would be much more appealing if it was built into a cupboard instead of being on show!!

  • "The private patio area was not exactly what we expected."

There was obviously no view but also it wasn't very pleasing to the eye from the lounge patio doors, ie a 6foot high brown fence 4 feet from the doors. It would be nice if it were painted in say Cuprinol colours Willow or Seagrass to brighten it up and perhaps a pot plant. Other wise it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.
