  • "Cottage was exactly the same as described, we received a lovely welcome package and the gin was delicious."

There was a folder to explain how to work things such as the heater and oven which was very useful. People who were in the village as we walked around were all so friendly, was also lovely and quiet. I couldn't recommend this cottage more if I tried

  • "We have recently returned home from a long weekend at Dove Cottage, we had a lovely time, the village is quiet but so nice."

The cottage itself is very comfortable we just had a couple of niggles, we couldn't find a hairdryer anywhere (which I found unusual) there wasn't a can opener (well not one that worked) so we had to buy one, the TV was very difficult to work, we couldn't get it on (I always take my laptop which we connected to the TV so luckily we managed to watch it that way) and there was no starter pack for the log burner (something else usually provided) so lucky for us we took wood with us. That said we enjoyed our stay, the nearby pub does a great Sunday roast and you're in close proximity of some lovely places to visit!

  • "A lovely cottage in a nice little village."

Not far from Abergele for a drive. Just a couple of pointers- there are 2 pubs by the cottage, one that does not do food. The other that does is not dog friendly. Usually we don’t mind the drive out, but we were lucky enough to have snow whilst we were there so we’re limited in where to go. Would have been handy to know they were not dog friendly before we left so we could plan ahead. The cottage itself is lovely, cosy and clean. Had washing machine but no way to dry clothes in winter months. Would benefit from tv in bedroom and extra towels as 2 for 2 people for a 4 day stay is not enough when you can’t get them washed and dried in a day! The utility was also full of flies on arrival for some reason? Something for the caretaker to look into perhaps! Would recommend ‘the old stag’ for food. Staff so welcoming. Very dog friendly! And the food was top notch! Just a shame for the snow otherwise we would have visit there a couple of times during our stay instead of cooking from the cottage. Also recommend ‘the harp’ in Abergele. Once again so dog friendly! We only managed to get there on the last day so can’t comment on the food, but hubby said his pint of Guinness was a great pint. Went to Angel bay to see the seals too and would recommend. I’m pregnant so limited on where i can walk but this was a nice and easy, flat stroll. All in all a great stay!

  • "We just returned from a great week in Dove Cottage."

The cottage had everything we needed and more. Clean, comfortable and welcoming after a day out exploring North Wales. The village has a General Store/Post Office and 2 pubs. One pub serves food but doesn’t allow dogs inside (some covered seating) the other doesn’t (yet) but welcomes dogs. A decent pint was had in both. We found a cracking walk…. Walk out of the village, over the bridge, turn right past Olivia’s, cross the road and down the steps and through the kissing gate. Follow the river and you’ll find a great little pebble beach with the best skimming stones ever!!! We taught our daughter how to skim stones one night and had to go back to practice for the rest of the week. Malcolm, our whippet, loved the walk too.

The cottage was clean , cosy and very comfortable like a home from home. Everything we needed was there, would be nice to have a towel rail in the bathroom to hang wet towels, but overall a fabulous stay. It is a great base to explore North Wales, we loved Conwy and Llandudno. Unfortunately the only pub which serves food in the village doesn't allow dogs inside so we always ate elsewhere, lovely meal had at The Harp, Abergele. Would advice booking though so as to avoid disappointment of being turned away. We would definitely visit again. Thank you

The cottage was surprisingly spacious with a lovely modern kitchen, and the amenities needed for a family holiday. The village is lovely and everyone was friendly and shop conveniently located as is the pub, although we didn’t go in to the latter. We managed to park fine outside the cottage but it was a bit tight at times. There was also a smell in the hallway which could have been from a leak or a bit of damp but I have sensitive nose and as not mentioned on other reviews probably just me.

  • "Dove Cottage is beautiful."

It's cosy, comfortable and located in a beautiful little village. Locals are very welcoming and I would definitely visit again. It was home from home and my family and dog relaxed and enjoyed the whole experience. The Welcome pack was a very thoughtful and lovely gift to receive. The log burner kept us nice and warm on the chilly nights. The bed were very comfortable with lots of extra pillows and blankets. Kitchen had everything you needed. Parking was easy. Great privacy in the court yard. We used the bbq too which was fantastic. The only downside is only 1 pub allows dogs in and they don't serve food. The courtyard is all pebbles and our dog will only do his business on grass so we had to get up early to take him out. He also cut his paws on the slate at the river so the pebbles hurt his paws so we layed our own blankets down so he could come and sit with us outside. The cottage wasn't clean when we arrived. So I had to clean it and lastly there is a very strong smell of sewage in the living room. The plug in smellys were on when we got there but these effect my husbands headaches so I turned them off and we got this strong smell off sewage. Other than that the cottage was beautifully decorated and a perfect location for us to explore North wales.

There are loads of lovely places nearby. The cottage is cosy and welcoming and beautifully kept. On arrival we were greeted with a welcome pack which contained tea, coffee, milk a few snacks and 2 small bottles of wine which was a lovely gesture. We have stayed in several cottages over the years and this was by far the best for location, comfort and facilities. We would definitely stay here again. We were lucky with weather and only managed only to get wet on our way home. We also visited Fairy falls and Gwrych castle (I'm a celebrity) and on our way home went to betws-y-Coed. It was very comfortable and very well looked after. The only minor qualm is there was no soap and only got one loo roll. Some holiday accommodations have guest soaps which are handy for weekend guests. Not a big problem anyway just a heads up for future guest to take their own. The cottage is situated in a beautiful little village. It is very picturesque upon entering over the bridge and stream where one of the two local pubs is situated. The two pubs in the village are just minutes away from the cottage and are very welcoming although the pub on the bridge doesn’t allow dogs inside. Couple of things, the shower door kept coming off the rails, no problem for my husband at 6ft 2 but at 5ft 2 it was a bit of a struggle for me to hitch it back on. Felt the towels provided where of poor quality, one use and they where soaked, perhaps thicker towels would be better and finally the decor in the living room was just too dull. Having a small window it would make more sense to have lighter walls, especially as the fireplace wall was brick. We had to put lights on at all times of the day. This final point is the reason why we wouldn’t come back to this cottage, which is a pity as we really did enjoy our stay and the village was lovely.

We enjoyed coastal, countryside and mountain walks with the dog. The books in the cottage were very good. We enjoyed some of the family games too. The cottage was warm with ambient lighting, which was lovely to return to. A welcome basket with tea & coffee etc was great as were the Welsh Cakes. Washing up liquid/cloths, tea towels etc soap and lovely fluffy towels were all provided. The utility porch was great for the dog and as a boot room. The cottage had almost everything we needed - no hairdryer, bread knife, kitchen scissors, chopping board - which was unusual given the vast range cooker and excellent pans/cooking dishes etc. Super comfortable beds, made up on arrival and plenty of spare pillows - only 2 soft pillows though - the others were too firm. Plentiful hot water, although the water pressure could be a little temperamental. Logs for the stove and matches provided, although we didn’t need it as the heating was excellent. The flame effect stove was cosy. A lovely, friendly village to explore. The Black Lion pub was superb! The local bus passes right past the cottage, so easy to explore locally without taking the car. We would definitely stay longer next time!
