  • "Lovely bungalow with amazing views."

We enjoyed our stay very much. In the description of the garden you say it is enclosed but it isn’t. Guests will have to be careful with their dogs as there is only a short track and then a busy road. It would be useful to have a garden table and chairs. Also some trays to carry things from the kitchen to the dining room. Otherwise very well equipped. Sofa is lovely and comfy but not big enough if you had 8 people ! Easy to walk down to the beach via the nearby caravan site ( very steep on the way back). Cafe in the garden centre opposite was very good for a late breakfast. Would definitely like to book again and would recommend it to others.

  • "The owner had disabled all heating to the property when we arrived and the toilet flush mechanism was unreliable."

We were a party of 6 including children and grandparents - this was the only toilet. The contact number provided for the owner was incorrect so we could only use to the emergency property management - different contacts each time passing on info to the owner. The heating issue was partly addressed after 3 days but still gave us no control to turn it off or on when needed. The first half of our week was rainy and cold and my 85 year old mum was very cold without heating. We also had no means to dry clothes indoors when it was raining outside. Day 4 someone arrived to look at the toilet. He’d not been informed by the owner that the issue was with the flush mechanism but was instead checking outside drains for blockages. We arrived home before he finished so were able to get him to look at the cistern - which he said was very old and needed replacing but he didn’t have the stuff to do it as it wasn’t the job he was sent to do. He tried the flush several times, and for him it worked each time - he blamed user error (not allowing time to refill / and weak wrists!) this was clearly not the case. As a result we spent a week in a house with the lid to the cistern off and several times each day someone needed to flush the toilet manually with their hands in the cistern. Hardly the luxury we paid for!! In terms of situation, the house had the most fantastic view of the bay and islands, with great decor and there was plenty of space. It’s a shame that some of the basic amenities weren’t up to scratch. This might have been resolved quickly with a small electric fan heater and a replacement flush if we had been able to communicate directly with the owner. Communication was poor and neither the management agent or the owner satisfactorily addressed the issues - I am sure they will be raised again by other holiday makers. We noticed that the price to rent has been reduced by £500 - it would be a nice gesture to offer us that back for the inconvenience caused. I would also question whether 1 toilet in a house catering for 8 people is sufficient. The solitary toilet roll provided definitely wasn’t. We will not be booking this cottage again.

About the location

ABERSOCH

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
