  • "Collfryn was a lovely quirky cottage."

It was warm and comfortable. There was a good walk from the cottage across the fields to the bridge over the river. It felt like a home from home.

  • "It's definitely an old and quirky cottage."

However, on arrival on a cold wet day and despite lights being on to welcome us, the heating wasn't and there was a damp and musty smell giving an overall impression of neglect and feeling unlived in (the house is for sale, which possibly explains this). It also took a while to realise that the heating was switched off and the clock on the boiler set at completely the wrong time for the set timings for it to come on. Thankfully we managed to sort it eventually. We were disappointed with the level of cleanliness too, everything felt a bit grubby-the bedroom carpets were stained and full of bits and the mirror behind one of the doors was cracked. We found the beds to be far too soft for us, but that is due to what we are more used to. We had to buy cloths and sponges to wipe surfaces down (there weren't any) as well as additional toilet paper (1 roll in each bathroom only to start with). Logs for the fire weren't provided as stated-or rather, they were so huge as to be unusable! We appreciated all the gifts of local produce and once the house warmed up a bit, it was comfortable enough for the rest of the week-we were very fortunate with the weather to be out every day, so we didn't have to spend long indoors anyway.

Unfair review The cottage has no damp whatsoever. Yes it had been the worst storm in a very long time , before your arrival. What can i say 95% of my reviews have been positive (cleanliness and homely, and good quality) with a few constructive criticism which have always been addressed promptly. Returning quests loving the peace, tranquility. I pride myself in giving high standard of hospitality and care. So sorry it it was not to your liking Regards Lilian Property Owner

  • "Very cozy and comfortable cottage."

LOVED the welcome pack of local bread, cakes and fridge items. Lovely personal touch. The cottage had every kitchen item needed, even supplied salt and pepper and kitchen roll. The place was very clean, tidy and homely. Our only observation/suggestion would be if the bushes in the back garden/seating area could be trimmed down to allow more light in and to enable a view of the fields. Currently it feels very overgrown and dark.

  • "What a beautiful welsh cottage and extremely homely, it was just our ideal place in a lovely setting."

It had a lovely feel about it with everything you could need with quality appliances, furnishings etc. Nice and quiet but not too isolated from nearby towns . We were quite sad to go home after our week here and wouldn't hesitate to come back

  • "A wonderful place to stay with great comfort, plenty of space for everyone inside and out."

Beautiful grounds. A super welcome basket on arrival - even doggy biscuits, which were very quickly demolished! Good and easy communications with owner. A lovely stay.

  • "What a beautiful cottage."

This place is lovely, the living areas are clean and comfortable, with plenty of space. There is just about everything you need there. With a handy welcome pack from the owner of milk, cheese, tea, coffee etc. From cooking utensils and pans to cosy fleese blankets if it's chilly. A large bbq and lovely big bath to soak in. The only thing we couldn't find was a broom or dustpan and brush. We were a little disappointed that the outdoor loungers had sodden cushions so we couldn't use them. It would be nice if they'd had a place to store them so they didn't get wet and covered in leaves and bird poop. And the gardener turned up early one morning and strimmed the lawn which took him forever and woke some of us up. The discription of the 10 acres to explore was a bit misleading, most of it was over grown with brambles and nettles and we couldn't get to enjoy the lovely stream nearby because of this, and the bridge over it was condemned. I'm not sure whether there were walks beyond this or not, but it meant we had to drive anywhere to walk as all the lanes lead to a busy main road or dead end, so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone wanting to do walks from this base. However, we still had a brilliant holiday as it was such a beautiful setting, not far from a beach and short drive to Caernarfon. Although fairly close to the main road it is really quiet. Also not too far to snowdon, llyn peninsular, Anglesea and many things to do and see. We saw puffins on a sea cruise, went to zip world, went on a steam train, and did some beautiful walks around snowdonia.

  • "A beautiful property that I will visit again."

Character and very well equipped. Beautiful gardens and secluded in extensive grounds. Lovely hamper. Everything spot on. The only suggestion is call to confirm as Sykes hadn't told Lilian that I was coming. Highly recommended.
