Wow double wow. I have stayed in some holiday cottages and this one is by far the best. The bed was so comfortable and the upstairs shower/bath was luxury. So dog friendly and Simon and Jo were so friendly and helpful. Perfect hosts. Visited Chester/West Kirby/coast path/Wepre park/RSPB Burton Mere. My dog Toffee loved it too. Can I just say thank you again from both of us and I will definitely be back.

Hi Anne, thankyou for your feedback. We are very glad to have been able to help salvage your holiday and that you enjoyed some of the attractions that the area has to offer.Hope to see you and Toffee in the future. Many Thanks for your custom. Property Owner

The property has everything you need and the complimentary welcome pack was a lovely touch. Beautiful character property. There isn't really much to do in the immediate area, we did a few walks down the coastline, popped a few pubs, but the pubs were pretty much empty during the day and most not serving food. Great chinese chippy in the village though. There's a couples whisky distilleries about a hours drive away. The Chickens were fine, no issue at all re noise, yes the cockerel crowed but it wasn't that bad, I thought it was nice to hear. The road and driveway at the property is very steep and tight when reversing to come out, we managed but thankfully I wasn't driving, hubby was!. The sauna was amazing, we used it every day, thoroughly enjoyed but be mindful of the chrome handle inside the sauna, it gets very hot and can/did burn, would be better if it was made of wood. Overall a lovely cottage and relaxing break.

). We were warmly welcomed by the owners with a great welcome basket (the best we have had from anywhere we’ve stayed - including Prosecco, bacon/sausages so we could make breakfast sandwiches the next day, dog treats, and a Christmas card as we stayed at Bethania just before Christmas, which was a lovely touch). The owners were very helpful and Bethania is such a unique place to stay. We loved coming back from cold December dog walks to a sauna. The only slight problem was we were hoping for an open fire, which had to be removed due to new regulations. This can’t be helped, and the electric fire felt immediately warming after coming in from a dog walk. Overall we had a great time at Bethania, and we’re hoping to return!

Any guests who had booked before the open fire was removed were informed by e-mail of this so I feel it is unfair to mark Bethania down for accuracy of listing as guests would know what to expect.I also feel that instant heat on return from a cold walk is more convenient than having to start building a fire but thank you for your comments which as always are welcome. The kitchen had more than enough equipment in and the coal fire and sauna made for a really relaxing break. The owners were very welcoming and we felt very at home. We'll certainly be booking again.

We loved our weeks stay there and Simon and Jo were the perfect hosts. They always aim to please and make your stay as comfortable as possible in this fully equipped Annex. The sauna is also a lovely touch. It is in a great location for exploring the north wales coast line and city days out such as Chester and Liverpool. What we found especially useful was the privately enclosed dog paddock just a mile up the road which you can hire at very reasonable rates to exercise your pooches. All in all this was possibly the best sykes rental I have stayed in for comfort and hygiene, The place was spotless. Keep up the good work guys.. See you again soon Neil and Jackson.. x

  • "We had a brilliant few days stay at the Bethania Chapel Annex."

We were met by the owners Simon and his wife and received a warm welcome. They said if they could help us to contact us any time. We had a fantastic welcome pack with enough for breakfast the next morning. The kitchen is well stocked with all the modern device you would have at home. The lounge area was very comfy and had Sky TV along with loads of dvds available to watch should the weather be inclement. You go up a spiral staircases to the bed room and bathroom. There was also another TV with sky in the bedroom should you wish to watch TV in bed. In the utility room was the sauna and washing machine and also a shower room. I did manage to use the sauna one evening which was a bit off a treat. The cottage had a dog safe area out the back door. (totally enclosed) The cottage was located well for traveling around north wales for sightseeing and those who take their dog, some wonderful walks. We found plenty 0f super markets around for stocking the fridge. The only downside sound was the feathered alarm clock on a morning, the owner keeps chickens and bantams. By about the third morning you get used to them and turn over to go back to sleep. I would definitely recommend this cottage for a visit and will be calling back again if in the area.

  • "Bethania is really is a home from home - from the super comfy king size bed, the huge fluffy towels and fixtures and fittings in the kitchen and bathrooms."

This place has everything, washing up liquid, cleaning materials, tea towels, hand wash in both the bathrooms - the list is endless! The sauna was a very welcome added bonus - far better than a hot tub in my opinion - it was lovely - and to be able to jump in the wet room was brilliant. It’s the perfect place - whether you want to explore the area, or just snuggle down to watch television (Sky upstairs and downstairs), read (extensive library to suit all tastes) play games (lots to choose from) or just spend time together away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For people who have a need for an internet connection - that too was perfect and for people who like to cook and enjoy cosy meals for two there was everything needed (even a garlic crusher) to do that. I have to mention the spiral staircase - it really is a work of art. The welcome pack was absolutely brilliant and totally unexpected - there were eggs, bacon, bread, lovely Welsh butter, cereals, milk, tea, sugar, coffee and not to forget the sausages - oh and the orange juice, jam and marmalade - I hope I haven’t missed anything out there was that much! Thank you to Jo and Simon for being the perfect hosts - such lovely, friendly, genuine people. Simon keeps chickens - and as some people have mentioned - cockerels crowing - for us they added to the charm of the place and didn’t disturb us in the slightest - we will be back. Mavis and Robbie

The place is spotlessly clean, and we had a lovely welcome pack left for us. Great wifi and a range of dvds available, local info, books and magazines. Ideally located for the sights and a great view across the River Dee, the chapel has its own sauna and garden area. Can’t wait to return!

The attention to detail provided by the owners is second to none - I can't think of anything they had forgotten. The welcome pack was unbelievable - something I'd never had before!!! It was like a home from home, so comfortable. A very warm welcome from the owners Jo and Simon continued throughout the week and they both contributed to a really enjoyable week. Thank you Jo and Simon. It is always difficult to find places that are dog secure - this is one. My boxer thoroughly enjoyed the freedom to explore both front and back of the property. I was also impressed with the attention given by Sykes cottages. I will definitely be using them again and will be visiting Bethania again. Highly recommended.

Never experienced such a warm welcome from friendly owners who went the extra mile. Absolutely loved the comfortable accommodation - everything we could have needed and nothing was too much trouble. We had a Guide Dog puppy with us and she was warmly welcomed and thought was given to her needs as well: while we enjoyed a welcoming Prosecco she tucked into her doggy treats. We used the Chapel as a base to explore the local towns and cities. For this it is perfect. The foreshore in Bagillt is lovely to stroll along and the locals are really friendly. Boasting an elevated position with views towards the Dee Estuary, this semi-detached wing of the chapel offers superb accommodation for a couple seeking a well-earned break.

The interior is bursting with character with a high ceiling in the bedroom, stripped back floor boards and markings etched into one section of the wall, done by the original workforce during construction.

You can rustle up a delicious meal in the kitchen and enjoy a bottle of wine before unwinding in the lounge as you catch up on your favourite TV programmes.

There is beautiful parquet flooring and a large mural on the wall, which is the main focal point in the room.

On return from a walk along the Wales Coastal Path, enjoy a spot of relaxation in the sauna room, where you can stream your favourite music through the Bluetooth sound system and them hop straight in the wet room shower opposite.

The ground floor also plays host to a handy utility housing a washing machine and tumble dryer, and French doors lead out to the rear, enclosed courtyard, where you can soak up a pleasant afternoon with a drink.

Climb the spiral staircase from the lounge and find a king-size double bed on the mezzanine landing, with an en-suite bathroom.

Natural light fills the space each morning from the low, chapel-style, frosted windows as you wake up to your first cup of coffee for the day.

The bedroom Velux blind is remote controlled and the ones from the en-suite offer views of green fields to the rear.

A sunny afternoon will invite you to share the views towards the estuary, as you sit within the orchard on the garden furniture and chat about times gone by.

Also within walking distance is the local family run pub The Ship Inn which has an extensive food menu with great reviews.
