  • "The property was excellent ."

Before arriving communication was great from the owners checking in on our needs and on arrival we received a lovely welcome pack of local sourced beer / coffee /tea biscuits etc . The property itself is in a great location with a short walk to Beddgelert village and the cottage was spotless with everything supplied and nice finishing touches . Parking was good with two lay-bys outside property . Great communication with owners too . Great views from the back garden area. We stayed here as a family of five and was great and had everything we needed.

Many thanks for the kind comments. Glad you had a great stay and a wonderful weekend for the family get together. Property Owner

  • "Honestly it was a really lovely pleasant stay."

We didn't have to worry about any essentials. You can tell that the owners are very thoughtful people and has gone over and beyond to make sure that everything was provided for the things that we may need. Even dogs little treats and own bed were provided if you were to bring your dog. The rooms were beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. Although there were no back garden, there is however a perfect view if you go up the steep steps and relax with a brew taking it all in. The area was perfect for where we wanted to go. Zip world is about 20 mins away where they have bounce below, titan zip line, mine tour etc. Snowdon is about the same. Fforest coaster ride is about 30 mins away. Lots of activities we manage to cram in the area in 4 days, we booked these beforehand. There is an info shop outside the bus stop in village for bus times etc. The village is a 10 mins walk and is in a nice quiet area with a beautiful river flowing through. Really nice mountain views. Evening meals were nice but they do closed early at 9pm and the pub shuts at 10pm so best to go earlier. All in all we had a lovely experience and the owners made sure we were happy with everything. Thanks guys we loved it.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. If we ever n ed someone to do our PR we know where to come. Hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

Cottage is in a great location just 5 mins from Beddgelert forrest and Watkins and Rhud Ddu path's and immediately opposite a picturesque river. A 5 min walk into the village of Beddgelert where there are dog friendly pubs serving food until 8pm. There's a small section of the walk to the village without a path, but the road isn't busy. The cottage itself was very nicely decorated and had all modern appliances and a smart TV/Wi-Fi which our teenagers liked in the evenings! An airer for wet clothes would have been handy, even though there is a washer/dryer on hand. Overall, a very nice stay in a perfectly situated and very well equipped cottage.

A two minute walk to the village pubs, restaurants and craft shops was ideal with a regular bus service into the larger towns if you fancied a change from driving. If you are looking for mountains or rivers to walk/trek then just open the front door and both are directly in front of you!! The owners were absolutely fantastic on ensuring that we had a good time and were in touch on a regular basis throughout our holiday to make sure all was to our satisfaction and provide any information that we may require. Very much looking forward to our next vacation in the village.

  • "Swn yr Afon was a pretty, well renovated cottage in Beddgelert and had all the mod cons to make it a comfortable stay."

The parking lay-by past the cottage provided ample parking and the walk into the village was 5 minutes. The owners were considerate and friendly and provided us with a Christmas tree and treats for our Christmas stay. It is worth noting that the two main hotels/pubs in Beddgelert (Saracens Head and The Goat Hotel) were both closed in December limiting the choice of pubs to one. Our only concern over the property was the presence of rodents in the cavity walls/ceilings which was noisy and unsettling. Although there was no sign of any droppings etc. in the property the constant scampering above the kitchen and lounge caused anxiety in my son resulting in an early departure. Having flagged the issue during our stay it appears that this is not uncommon in the Winter months due to the cottage's hillside location.

  • "This was our second stay in this lovely cottage, and we can’t recommend it enough."

It’s cosy and stylish, lovely and warm. Beddgelert itself is lovely, but there’s also so much to do around the area too. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, as well as a lovely big table (ideal for dinner and family games). We particularly love the back garden for its views and can highly recommend it on a clear night for stargazing (my son’s favourite part). Incredibly helpful, communicative hosts too! Can’t praise them enough. Thank you for stay. I’m sure we will be back again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this fabulous review. We are fellow stargazers and always mesmerised by the busy Beddgelert skies! We’re so pleased you’ve enjoyed your second stay, and would love to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "We stayed in this property after the storms in February 2022 unfortunately we had no Wi-Fi at all while we were there."

The cottage clearly has an issue with Wi-Fi not just on this occasion. It’s mentioned in a previous review and the owner himself said that the previous guests had intermittent Wi-Fi. Unfortunately for us it was a real problem as my husband and daughter had work to do in the evenings. We also missed being able to look up what to do in the area. I wouldn’t want anyone to book this cottage without realising this issue. There is two smart TVs there and two Alexia’s but not any good without Wi-Fi. Unfortunately there are no books to read or board games to play when you have frustrated teenagers!!! The cottage itself is lovely very comfy, clean and in a good location.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry you experienced lack of Wi-Fi after the storms. It was found to be lightning damage and all resolved quickly. We’ve now added extra books and some games. We’re pleased you found our cottage clean and comfortable Property Owner

It was exceptionally well equipped, clean and renovated tastefully. The location is perfect, a short walk into Beddgelert itself and surrounded by mountains, overlooking a stream. The little touches that were left for us were really appreciated... a welcome tray and little hand made soaps, sourced locally on each bed. Just a word of warning.. the stairs inside and up to the decking area are quite steep and treads are narrow so care needed if you have mobility issues. All in all a beautiful oasis and a much needed break.

Entering this beautiful, double fronted cottage you will experience a lovely warm, Welsh welcome, immediately being drawn into the open-plan living space.

The sitting room has a stunning accent wall, with two leather sofas and a separate chair set around the warming woodburning stove and Smart TV, providing ideal space for quiet evenings in, especially when the evenings are cooler!

The kitchen area is well-appointed and fully equipped for you to prepare that delicious evening meal or leisurely breakfast before heading out and about to explore this wonderful area.

The bedrooms consist of a double with seating area and TV and a twin room, these two rooms face the front of the cottage and boast views of the mountains too, whilst a single bedroom is at the rear of the cottage, served by a shower room.

Swn yr Afon has a shallow frontage with two benches, ideal for your morning drink listening to the sound of the Glaslyn river.
