  • "A lovely stay in July 2023."

Cottage is in a great location just 5 mins from Beddgelert forrest and Watkins and Rhud Ddu path's and immediately opposite a picturesque river. A 5 min walk into the village of Beddgelert where there are dog friendly pubs serving food until 8pm. There's a small section of the walk to the village without a path, but the road isn't busy. The cottage itself was very nicely decorated and had all modern appliances and a smart TV/Wi-Fi which our teenagers liked in the evenings! An airer for wet clothes would have been handy, even though there is a washer/dryer on hand. Overall, a very nice stay in a perfectly situated and very well equipped cottage.

Thank you for all of the positive feedback, much appreciated. Property Owner

A two minute walk to the village pubs, restaurants and craft shops was ideal with a regular bus service into the larger towns if you fancied a change from driving. If you are looking for mountains or rivers to walk/trek then just open the front door and both are directly in front of you!! The owners were absolutely fantastic on ensuring that we had a good time and were in touch on a regular basis throughout our holiday to make sure all was to our satisfaction and provide any information that we may require. Very much looking forward to our next vacation in the village.

Thank you for all of your kind comments..sounds like you made the most of the cottage, village and surrounding area. Look forward to welcoming you back anytime. Property Owner

  • "Swn yr Afon was a pretty, well renovated cottage in Beddgelert and had all the mod cons to make it a comfortable stay."

The parking lay-by past the cottage provided ample parking and the walk into the village was 5 minutes. The owners were considerate and friendly and provided us with a Christmas tree and treats for our Christmas stay. It is worth noting that the two main hotels/pubs in Beddgelert (Saracens Head and The Goat Hotel) were both closed in December limiting the choice of pubs to one. Our only concern over the property was the presence of rodents in the cavity walls/ceilings which was noisy and unsettling. Although there was no sign of any droppings etc. in the property the constant scampering above the kitchen and lounge caused anxiety in my son resulting in an early departure. Having flagged the issue during our stay it appears that this is not uncommon in the Winter months due to the cottage's hillside location.

  • "This was our second stay in this lovely cottage, and we can’t recommend it enough."

It’s cosy and stylish, lovely and warm. Beddgelert itself is lovely, but there’s also so much to do around the area too. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, as well as a lovely big table (ideal for dinner and family games). We particularly love the back garden for its views and can highly recommend it on a clear night for stargazing (my son’s favourite part). Incredibly helpful, communicative hosts too! Can’t praise them enough. Thank you for stay. I’m sure we will be back again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this fabulous review. We are fellow stargazers and always mesmerised by the busy Beddgelert skies! We’re so pleased you’ve enjoyed your second stay, and would love to welcome you back again. Property Owner

Thank you so much for the kind review, and the fact that you would return. Sorry you found there wasn’t enough storage. We normally just rearrange the corner cupboard with the plastic glasses, and find that to be sufficient. Property Owner

The cottage itself is gorgeous, very homely and beautifully decorated with all the mod cons. We loved looking at the renovation photos! Parking wasn’t an issue at all, we parked right outside the cottage. The location was perfect for us. Lots of great walks nearby, a lovely lake for paddle boarding and a 5 minute drive to the Watkin Path. The village is a short walk away and has a few nice pubs and a fabulous ice cream parlour. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

  • "We stayed in this property after the storms in February 2022 unfortunately we had no Wi-Fi at all while we were there."

The cottage clearly has an issue with Wi-Fi not just on this occasion. It’s mentioned in a previous review and the owner himself said that the previous guests had intermittent Wi-Fi. Unfortunately for us it was a real problem as my husband and daughter had work to do in the evenings. We also missed being able to look up what to do in the area. I wouldn’t want anyone to book this cottage without realising this issue. There is two smart TVs there and two Alexia’s but not any good without Wi-Fi. Unfortunately there are no books to read or board games to play when you have frustrated teenagers!!! The cottage itself is lovely very comfy, clean and in a good location.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry you experienced lack of Wi-Fi after the storms. It was found to be lightning damage and all resolved quickly. We’ve now added extra books and some games. We’re pleased you found our cottage clean and comfortable Property Owner

Bedgelert is very pretty. The owners have thought about everything, welcome pack and all the facilities you need. Would definitely stay again. Only issue we had was with the Wi-Fi which was intermittent, could be a concern if you need to be contactable and we couldn’t watch Netflix or other channels in the evening. There’s a free WiFi in the village a short walk away which we used occasionally. Strongly recommend and thanks for a lovely stay.

This is a part of Wales we have never been to before but can't wait to go back to. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and was recently refurbished to a very high standard. Even though there were 5 adults, there was plenty of room, extremely comfortable and there was everything there that we could have possibly needed. The little additional touches were lovely also. It was exceptionally well equipped, clean and renovated tastefully. The location is perfect, a short walk into Beddgelert itself and surrounded by mountains, overlooking a stream. The little touches that were left for us were really appreciated... a welcome tray and little hand made soaps, sourced locally on each bed. Just a word of warning.. the stairs inside and up to the decking area are quite steep and treads are narrow so care needed if you have mobility issues. All in all a beautiful oasis and a much needed break.

Overlooking Afon Glaslyn, close to the pretty village of Beddgelert, it makes for an ideal holiday retreat in the beautiful Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park for couples, friends or a family.

So much care and attention has been taken by the owners to create a wonderfully equipped and welcoming home from home that will not disappoint.

Entering this beautiful, double fronted cottage you will experience a lovely warm, Welsh welcome, immediately being drawn into the open-plan living space.

The sitting room has a stunning accent wall, with two leather sofas and a separate chair set around the warming woodburning stove and Smart TV, providing ideal space for quiet evenings in, especially when the evenings are cooler!

The kitchen area is well-appointed and fully equipped for you to prepare that delicious evening meal or leisurely breakfast before heading out and about to explore this wonderful area.

The bedrooms consist of a double with seating area and TV and a twin room, these two rooms face the front of the cottage and boast views of the mountains too, whilst a single bedroom is at the rear of the cottage, served by a shower room.

Swn yr Afon has a shallow frontage with two benches, ideal for your morning drink listening to the sound of the Glaslyn river.

At the back of the cottage, accessed from the first-floor landing via a glazed door are steps up to a hillside decked area with seating and breathtaking mountain views.

Beddgelert is less than half a mile and is a delightful village with a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes alongside the river, alongside some wonderful wooded walks and a whole range of footpaths that surround the village.

Be sure to visit the famous grave of Gelert while you're there.

Mountain biking is well-catered for locally with a number of centres in the area but if you are looking for something less strenuous, perhaps a ride on the Welsh Highland Steam Railway which runs through the village taking you to Porthmadog on the coast or to the royal and historic town of Caernarfon with its majestic castle will appeal.
