The main living area is open plan with 2 bedrooms on the same level and a further two on a lower level. The large picture windows in the lounge look out over a lovely view. All the beds are low futon style so height wise may not suit everyone but the mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. The kitchen was fairly well equipped but sadly as the owner has received complaints about food stuffs being left, this was one of the least equipped properties we have stayed in regarding the provision of basic condiments etc. This is fine when you know this as you can plan accordingly. This property would be perfect for groups of friends and families with older children but we did not feel it was quite right for our needs - we had two children under two. A 17month old and small baby. Whilst the property did have a stair gate and a travel cot there was no high chair and the chairs at the cottage were not the type you could fix your own booster type high chair seat to. This made mealtimes a challenge. The travel cot appeared somewhat old and we simply could not assemble it despite having a similar designed one at home and following u tube instructions, so were certain it was broken. The split level gardens are lovely and well maintained but again not suitable for young children, as there is no safe place for them to walk or play. When we arrived at the property the outside bins were already full so there was nowhere to put non -recyclable waste. A note inside the house ask visitors to take their rubbish away with them when the bins are full and take to the nearest refuse site. We did not really feel this was appropriate especially with the bins already being full and our having two cars packed with babies and related equipment. The bin men came early on the morning we were leaving but did not empty the bins even though the lids were only open half inch. Nervous drivers or those not used to driving on country lanes will be anxious about the last 500yard approach to the cottage. This is a single track with no passing places and the hilly and twisting lane is so narrow that the hedge scrapes both sides of your car. It is a challenge when you meet an oncoming vehicle, even for those used to navigating country lanes and reversing through them. Lovely cottage but not quite right for us.

The property

Set in spectacular countryside, Erw Nant is a delightful, architect-designed, detached eco cottage, in the hamlet of Llwynmawr, North Wales.

Ideal for both families and friends, the cottage is an ideal base from which to explore this lovely part of the country.

Beautifully presented with stylish contemporary furnishings, the cottage is accessed by a footbridge over a brook and up steps leading through a pretty cottage garden, into a sun porch with seating overlooking the front garden.

Built on a split level with an open plan first floor, the sitting room offering some of the best views in the house through two large picture windows, there is a contemporary, Scandinavian woodburner to add warmth and feature when needed.

An opening leads through to the dining room with designer radiators and bi-fold doors onto a terrace area with glass balustrade.

The modern, fitted kitchen with range cooker is perfect for preparing home-cooked meals after an energetic day fell walking or exploring the local attractions.

The four bedrooms are all furnished with modern Japanese-style beds, low to the floor, the ground floor master offering bi-fold doors into the garden, as well as an en-suite shower room.

There are two further double bedrooms and a twin bedroom and two family bathrooms.

There is peace and tranquillity wherever you sit, with a secret garden area and terraced patio allowing you to find a sun trap or quiet spot when needed.

With off road parking for two cars, you won’t be surprised if you don’t move after arriving as the village pub is only 6 minutes’ walk and doorstep paths lead into wonderful countryside with the long distance Llwybr Ceiriog Trail passing close to the front door offering a 23 mile circular walk or bike ride through the wonderful Ceiriog Valley scenery.
