  • "My family of 5, all in their 70s, had a wonderful time at the farmhouse."

It was spacious, comfortable and warm. Our two dogs absolutely loved the garden and hardly came inside! The private drive down to the house had spectacular views as did the garden. You do need a car to go anywhere as there are no amenities within walking distance. The games room was a great addition and we made full use of the table football until our backs gave out!! Definitely one to return to again. Many thanks to the owners for sharing this hidden gem x

A real slice of history too. Very comfortable atmosphere and a lovely place to stay. Our three dogs loved the gardens. We will definitely rebook. The kitchen is well stocked. Plenty of space for larger families. Beds very comfortable. Excellent internet connection. Great location for days out - although you may not want to leave!

  • "Our Experience at Cymryd Uchaf was partly good, partly bad."

First the good: Plenty of Space, nice bedrooms, a brand new kitchen with a huge fridge and induction cooker, the main bathroom newly renovated, a large beautiful garden with a stunning view, absolute tranquility. For dog owners very important: the garden is securely fenced. But: the cleanliness left much to be desired. The dishes weren't clean, the pots and pans dirty, dust under the furniture, cob webs in the winter garden. Only the most necessary equipment in the kitchen (literally one blunt cutting knife). The living room dark and crammed with furniture. The playroom smelled musty and looked like a storeroom. All in all: A missed opportunity. With a little more care it would be a gem.

bathrooms are both excellent as is the walk in shower ...but really needs a non slip mat inside ..very slippy - be careful ! The games room was very disappointing with the games console Out of Order and no electrical power to the wall sockets so no TV either .. but plenty of toys to play with ! Outside the play area is excellent and the views from here and the lovely Garden are spot on ! Beautiful weather during all our stay so icing on the cake ! We would highly recommend Conway Cottage although the road to it is not for the faint hearted .Btw Mind your head on the two very low doors ..OUCH . heard some very strange noises in the house both daytime and night time Whooooo......enjoy !

Thank you for your feedback. We feel that we have a cosy theme running through our lounge with creates a great atmosphere when the wood burning is on in the evening. We are very sorry that the games machine was out of order for your stay, this was broken by a previous guest and we are looking to get this replaced. In regards to no electricity, we have one TV in the lounge which we tested and works with no issues, we wished you would have contacted us during your stay as we would have been able to look into this further for you. We're glad to know that you enjoyed your stay overall. Kind regards Property Owner

Clean but and comfy but only on the surface… dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid and lots of dust and dirt visible under cupboards. Mattress on double bed needs replacing! The house was very cold for a couple of days till the heating/fires got going. Maybe someone could put the heating on the day before visitors arrive as our first nice with a 4 month old wasn’t pleasant! On the other hand the cottage location and size is perfect for big family holiday, with beautiful views in all directions! Gardens well looked after by friendly locals.

Thank you for your feedback. We have now changed the mattress's so this will no longer be an issue. Our cleaning schedules have also been updated with regular deep cleans. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Outstanding property."

Stunning views. Very comfortable furniture. Loads of space. Great play area for kids outside and loads of good quality toys for small children in games room. Kitchen well equipped, although would have liked a couple of larger pans. I chose this property for the dogs. Not convinced the larger garden is entirely secure for smaller dogs and with sheep in next field, I only took them there on a lead. Rear garden is secure but area by front door was not. One of my dogs got out under the hedge by the front gate. I blocked it with loads of wood logs and it was fine after that. Upstairs shower ran hot and cold intermittently. Loads of logs for the fire. Massive bedrooms but mattress on double bed needs replacing. Could feel the springs in it. Loads of spare blankets. Spotlessly clean. Am hoping to book again towards end of the year.

Thank you so much for you lovely feedback, we really appreciate it. We are now looking to replace the mattresses next week, thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will also review the gardens to see if there has been any missed gaps, as our dog hasn't found them yet! We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "It’s a lovely cottage with a great location and we would come back."

First time staying at a cottage with all the logs provided and having log burners in each room was great. Gardens are fabulous and we loved feeding birds, could have watched them all day. Just some points that would help. There was no spare front door as specified. The dishwasher doesn’t clean the dishes properly. The stainless steel pans had burnt on residue left on them from previous use. We bought a stainless steel scourer to clean them before use. Would be good to provide hob and cooker instructions. Not everyone had halogen hob. We worked it out in the end. We also feel the mattresses are a bit tired in the double bedrooms. Didn’t use the singles so can’t comment. All this said we did have a great time staying a the property.

Many thanks for your feedback, now the issue with the mattresses has been brought to our attention we are going to replace these next week and we will be getting the children to test out the singles to make sure they are still providing a comfortable sleep! I will spend some time writing as bit of a how to on the oven and hob. We have spoken with our cleaning team in regards to the issues raised, including the key, to ensure that this is not something other guests experience. Thank you again for the feedback Property Owner

Lovely scenery and location. We loved watching the birds from the kitchen window. We had one issue with the hot tap in the upstairs bathroom which just needed a washer, it was sorted out quickly by the cleaning company, (may be when the cottage is not being used get the plumber back in to just service the taps as they are old, but in keeping with the style of the property). The kitchen is also in keeping with the character of the cottage and is very well equipped, although previous occupants had not cleaned the grill pan or cooking trays that they had used, no excuse as a dishwasher has been provided for your use. We loved our stay here and would definitely love to stay again. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "This was my 3rd visit to this property."

The location and garden is excellent, but its beginning to show a lack of attention. Damp on walls getting worse, cleaning poor , dust, cobwebs, ( cleaner probably not given enough time for such a big old-fashioned property I suspect) , the hoover available for guests is not fit for purpose, no washing-up liquid, salt or pepper, kitchen cupboard handles falling off, kitchen cupboards grubby (proudly described as having come from UMIST laboratories in the 1960s) . Is a 60 year old kitchen an attraction ?....... The taps in kitchen sink dripping, and so on. The owners need to think about updating a little, and deep-cleaning! Otherwise, a lovely cottage

  • "Whilst the location was great and the size of the house for 5 adults and 3 dogs the major let down was the cleaning."

Since covid when arriving we have started cleaning the high touch areas I.e. door handles, fridge...the cloth was filthy with very obvious dirtwhen it should have been clean for our arrival. What with having 3 dogs and the fur we thought to mop the kitchen floor again the level of dirt suggests it's not been mopped in months. The upstairs clearly hadn't been dusted or vacuumed for some time to the point that when we cleaned the rugs they came up as a different colour, you could write ur ne in the dust. There was a significant amount of dust under all furniture upstairs and down, on vacuuming under beds the amount collected under one bed resulted on the vac needing emptying. If the cleaning was improved it would be a great place as there's plenty of secure garden for the dogs with a beautiful view and plenty of space in the house

  • "The cottage is quaint and quirky but, there’s ‘shabby chic’ and shabby and lots of the cottage is shabby."

The toilet roll holders are quite disgusting and need replacing immediately and as I have seen commented in previous reviews, the kitchen really should be replaced. Old wooden cupboards are not hygienic. The door mats need replacing and the lighting in the kitchen is quite poor. The light switches could be labelled as we never did find out what we were switching on and off. I appreciate we were there over a bank holiday and assume that was why all the recycling bins were still full. It would certainly help for a clear written list to be provided to explain what can be recycled as I think every authority in the country have their own ideas on what can and cannot be recycled. I did my best but with no bags or containers to put anything in it was difficult. Also there were no bags provided to put the bedding into as had been requested in the cottage information. Another thing which would have been good would be to have this years leaflet/brochures on hand to be able to look at things to do. There were so many old leaflets, a drawer full but all out of date. I know this review sounds quite negative but we did have a lovely week and enjoyed the wonderful views and the children and dogs loved the gardens.

Few problems with the water supply but Welsh water were excellent in fixing and helping out. Spoke to the owner she was lovely and could not help out enough. IT was a real change from city life and gave a very good feeling of the country life and the history over the hundreds of years. The dogs loved the space but be warned the grass is full o bees at this time of year and one of ours had a very bad time for a few days but that's the risk of the country life and that's what you get with this farm house a wonderful country experience after a life time of BIrmingham city life. just a tip for the owner the cleaning company are not helping you the cooker was so bad it took hours to clean before it could be used but apart from that it is a lovely farm house and a great experience with fantastic views over the estuary and country side. Thank you.

The cobwebs and dust in the kitchen and lounge were not great at all. The dishwasher was dirty and didnt wash properly during the week of our stay, i cleaned all the filters but it still left sediment on upper items. the BBQ was dirty with left over cooking on the wires. I took my own thankfully because Sykes informed me there wasnt one. Mop in cupboard was filthy. Washing machine had black dog hairs inside, The area around the log burner was dirty and needed brushing up under the baskets. We thought the positives were the beds and the shower but our overall impression was that the furniture needs updating in the kitchen and lounge. 3 couples agreed on these facts before typing .Outside was great and the views were amazing but the outside furniture needs updating aswell as rickety Disappointed with the house overall..

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
