  • "It is years since we went to Wales, but what a welcome back."

The cottage looked so welcoming as we arrived on a dark wet afternoon, the lights were lit and as we walked in the lounge looked so cosy. It’s clearly a loved home from home with attention to detail and everything you need in a self catering accommodation. It was clean and well cared for with high quality furnishings etc.wish we could have enjoyed the garden too but perhaps the weather will be kinder next time.

  • "The property was very damp and has mould."

I have asthma and as soon as I opened the door I could smell it and feel it on my chest. Made me ill. Damp is on windows and even the post/mail. Wasn’t relaxing at all. The fire looks pretty but the sill isn’t in full tact, smoke escapes from around the sill. Again not good for asthmatics. I have videos and photos of all the above. I had to leave early and not enjoy my friends birthday with them. Very disappointing

We are very shocked and disappointed by this review. The cottage isn’t damp or mouldy. There wasn’t a call made to us, our cleaner, or Sykes, to alert us to issues on arrival which would have allowed us to try and resolve them. There were also no negative comments left in the housekeeping book. Guests prior to, and after this stay have left positive reviews and comments in the guest book. The cottage is old and is constructed of stone. It can be cold during bad weather if the heating is off but warms up very quickly when it is turned on. The cottage isn’t occupied all of the time. Some condensation can build up around windows when they have been left tightly shut for longer periods and also in the small porch, but it is regularly removed during cleans. There have also been no prior issues reported about the log burner, but we will get it checked out as soon as possible. The booking was last minute and we managed to get the cottage ready in time. We’re sorry if we missed something as a result. We’re also sorry that the cottage didn’t meet expectation. Property Owner

Found it very peaceful and was lovely listening to the water that ran under the bridge at the side of the property. Walking distance to the various cafes and takeaways and shops. Also perfect base as not far from Portmeirion, slate caverns, Betws-y-Coed, Swallow Falls, etc Would stay again!

  • "Great cottage with the benefit of dedicated parking."

The cottage is kitted out excellently and was squeaky clean too. We had everything to hand to make our stay enjoyable whether we were just chilling out reading a book looking across to the mountains or relaxing after enjoying walking locally or at the many locations across Snowdonia. The location in Blaenau is idea for getting to all areas and of course we used the Ffestiniog railway to Porthmadog. The owners Sarah & Doug have thought of everything and are easily contactable if necessary. We will be back!

  • "A delightful cosy cottage."

Warm, welcoming, clean with everything that we needed, including some generous treats. Good to have our own parking space next to the narrow road. Nice views, including a well worked one of the waterfall. Good double glazing kept enough of any external noise away - whilst still letting us hear the adjacent river. Bedrooms were compact and comfortable, an excellent shower provided lots of hot water, and the heating was quick and kept us warm when required. Kitchen provided all that we needed, the main room was cosy, again with all we needed, including generous books, games and dvds. A couple of external seating areas were very nice for the evenings. Only adverse comment was that the stairs to the kitchen were narrow and steep, difficult for anyone with mobility issues, and the same concern with the slate steps. A good centre for travelling around and would happily stay again.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the cottage finding it a cosy base for our travels."

The bed we found to be very comfy and the best we have slept in away from home in ages. The only downside to the bedrooms is the lack of wardrobes and cupboards as we do not travel light so we used the single room as a dressing room. Obviously other people may not be like us but it’s worth noting on your particulars. Thank you again for the welcoming goodies and to the cleaner who ensured that on arrival the cottage was immaculate.

  • "Bed was not very comfortable, very noisy on the bare floorboards and the mattress could do with replacing as some springs could be felt."

The road was being resurfaced right outside the cottage until 1am during our stay, which we were not made aware of until our arrival and also we had to wait for access to the cottage because of the roadworks and after a long day out is something that wasn’t great, I do think the dates the owners knew about the roadworks should have been blocked out of renting the cottage because it was very disruptive.

Thank you for the lovely comments about our cottage in the guest book. We’re very sorry that you found the bed uncomfortable however. It is the first time that the mattress has been brought to our attention and rest assured we will deal with it as soon as possible. We’re also extremely sorry that the roadworks affected your stay. They were scheduled from the 6th to the 30th June, but notice was only given to local residents at the start of June. We sincerely apologise for not letting you know in advance. We hope that overall you were able to enjoy your stay despite these issues. Sarah and Doug Property Owner

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful week stay at Brondderwen cottage."

The house was clean, with everything you could possibly need! The kitchen was well equipped, a chest full of board games, and even a smart TV for cosy nights by the fire (will a few logs, kindling and fire starters provided). There is an allocated parking spot, which can be a challenge to get in and out of, dependent on where the cars are parked on the road. Although saying that we were always able to get in with a big 4x4 vehicle. The stairs are narrow so do bare this in mind when booking. We had an issue with the shower, however, Sarah and Doug were both easily contacted, and we were able to sort it out. It's a great base to head to all the local tourist destinations, and Blaenau Ffestiniog is a beautiful location in itself, with a fascinating history, and plenty of walks. I would definitely recommend this little cottage to anyone, and I'm sure we'll be back!

Thank you for such a lovely review. We’re very sorry there was an issue with the shower tray. We re-sealed it on the day you left and did a thorough inspection of the cottage too. We’re pleased that you still had a lovely week and hope you visit again in the future. Sarah and Doug. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, we enjoyed coming back to a warm and cosy cottage after a day of exploring."

The cottage was comfortable, private and well maintained. Two things I did note was that we could have done with packing space for clothes and food and there were a couple of areas that were unclean: the kitchen sink, under the single bed (found a pair of black Nike shorts and socks, left them on the kist in the dining area) and there were hairs in the bathroom, under the toilet seat was unclean. We did have a wonderful stay, loved the sound of the river and the view of the waterfall from the skylight window.

Thank you for highlighting the cleaning issues. We pride ourselves on the cottage being pristine and we are very sorry that we have fallen short on this occasion. We will make sure that these issues are addressed immediately. We appreciate that there is limited space in the bedrooms for storing clothes, however we have made the best of the space available. The same applies to the kitchen which is very compact, but there is a wall cupboard for food storage and space on the worktop. Thank you for your overall review and we are pleased you still enjoyed your stay. Sarah and Doug Property Owner

    - Beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds. 100% cotton bedding and 2 pillows per person – you can’t get more comfortable than that. - Lovely toilet that looks like it’s just been renovated with a heater for dry and warm towels and really nice and strong hot shower. - The kitchen is extremely clean and very well equipped. In fact, the whole cottage was really clean and spotless when I arrived. And so lovely and warm!! To top it all up the cottage offers the most amazing views of the mountains through the 2 windows at the front of the house and the view of a waterfall at the back. Stunning! It is located on the high street, and I was worried about the noise but it has very efficient double glazed windows so I couldn’t hear any traffic noises at all. I slept really well during the 7 nights I was there (even though the storm Franklin came passed during my stay!). I went to Brondderwen to rest and go for a few walks but ended up resting more than walking as the cottage is a such a cosy paradise. Thanks Sarah and Doug for making it so special. I will be coming back as soon as I can.
