The cottage is really comfortable, well equiped, clean, the owner was very nice and helpful. We got welcoming bottle of wine and sweets. The place is very well situated, you can easily reach Snowdon and the seaside.

  • "Ty Cynon is a lovely little cottage."

We arrived and it was very clean and tidy. The kitchen has everything you need, the beds were clean and comfortable and plenty of clean linen and towels provided. My only comments are that guests should bring mosquito/midge repellant for the summer evenings and the doorways are small so may cause a problem for tall people - I banged my head numerous times. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this as an excellent venue for exploring Snowdonia.

Thank you so much for your 5* review! We are so pleased to hear that you loved our cottage. We hope to welcome you back soon. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful, lovely fireplace and felt really comfy for our family to have cosy, board game nights by the fire."

The hosts left a bottle of wine and some chocolates which was a lovely touch (although I’m heavily pregnant so couldn’t drink the wine.) The property itself was lovely and just as expected. The reason I’ve rated slightly lower for facilities and amenities is due to two things. 1) The location is really a 20 minute drive from anywhere nice. The actual town itself is a bit run down and finding good food there was a struggle. However, if you’re happy with the drive then there’s a few good places in Porthmadog and also the Ty-Gwyn restaurant was AMAZING!! 2) This was due to the lack of essentials - we were provided with one toilet roll (for a family of 3 - including a pregnant woman who is weeing every 2 mins) and when questioned about where I can find more, I was informed that guests usually bought their own on their first shop…. Using the toilet is a basic need and I wouldn’t have expected to have had to buy my own loo roll. They did say I could use one from the cleaners cupboard when I realised I’d ran out but I think for a 4 night stay there should be at least 3/4 loo rolls available. Similarly, a main feature of the cottage is the fireplace and it would have been nice to be provided with enough firewood for our stay. We were provided with one bag which lasted the first evening and the hosts also said we could use some spare firewood when we had a power-cut but again, we were expected to buy our own for the last 3 nights. As the fireplace is the main source of heating/hot water, therefore a basic need, again I feel this should have been provided. Overall, a lovely cottage with beautiful scenery, lots of things to do just a 20 minute drive or so away and the hosts were friendly. Just ensure you pack some extra loo roll and jumpers for your visit so you don’t get stuck on the loo/ cold if you run out of firewood.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to state that we always provide the starter pack of firewood listed in the property summary. This is common practice. The cottage is 300 years old and is not connected to a gas supply but there are heaters and electric radiators in every room at the property. We also provide 2 toilet rolls per booking along with other essentials and have never had any previous feedback that this has not been adequate. We will monitor this moving forward. We responded to your requests promptly to ensure you were supported whilst on holiday. We are glad you found the cottage to be beautiful and and comfy and enjoyed your evenings by the fire. Ty - Gwyn is certainly AMAZING and we would recommend other guests to book early to avoid disappointment. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely gorgeous."

It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a stunning location; quiet but only a ten minute walk from the high street (one footpath also has streetlights). Lovely comfortable bed with a beautiful view down the Vale of Ffestiniog from the bedroom window. We're looking forward to returning next year!

Really comfortable bed. The location of the property was excellent for all our days out over North Wales. Information about the cottage came via email and was comprehensive. However, it would have been helpful if there were more detailed instructions/information about recycling as all parts of the country are not the same. Also, personally for us, some wood burner instructions.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are pleased to hear that you had a relaxing holiday and enjoyed North Wales. We do have instructions for the wood burner and shall ensure they are added to the welcome pack, based on your suggestion. We hope you return soon! Property Owner

It’s incredibly peaceful and quiet, whilst still being within walking distance of the shop and a few cafes. The area is great for walking and lots of activities to do. The cottage itself was perfect. We stayed for 6 nights and were really comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, there is freeview, WiFi and a DVD player for entertainment in the evenings. Really comfy beds and sofas. Everything was lovely and clean. It was so peaceful up in the hillside and there were amazing views from the windows. We were really lucky with the weather so we were out for lots of family walks and bike rides. It took a while for the cottage to warm up as there hadn't been anyone staying for a few days. Once we worked out how to get the fire going it was lovely and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and it was full of everything we needed. It was also really nice not to have to take towels with us. A really great holiday.
