“Our cottage was beautiful and nice and warm although it would of been good to have a tumble dryer to help keep the wash loads down and to be able to dry towels.”

The dish washer ran out of salt and we could not find the plug to switch it off. There was also no spare toilet paper something we didn’t think about until late at night when no shops were open. Overall our holiday accommodation was absolutely perfect and we are really hoping to return next year if the cottage hasn’t been sold by then.

The property

A wonderful stone-built farmhouse situated in an idyllic riverside position, yet only 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Betws-y-Coed with its shops, pubs and restaurants.

Dating back to the 13th century, the property was at one point used as a mill and the old mill wheel still sits on the side of the house next to the bubbling millstream.

The house exudes character with beams, dressed stone walls, mullion windows and a wonderful inglenook fireplace in the sitting room.

Outside is a field and watermeadow leading to River Llugwy.

Little wonder that the renowned artist David Cox painted the house many times.

An idyllic spot for a restful holiday!

About the location

BETWS-Y-COED

Llanrwst 4 miles; Blaenau Ffestiniog 11 miles.

Betws-y-Coed, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, is North Wales' most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs, places to eat, miniature railway, a riverside golf course and the Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course, and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre, as well as being the start of the beautiful Conwy Valley which leads to the coast and the lovely towns of Llandudno and Conwy.
