• "The house has lots of potential with a lovely kitchen that has all amenities, beds that were nice and comfy and duvets were a high enough tog that you stayed warm at night, but sadly for us it wasn’t a practical place to stay for 5 nights and I would not recommend staying here in the winter."

  Understandably, staying during a storm is going to create challenges - there were a couple of leaks in the house which we lived with and the internet was down for a day and a half with no signal in the house (there’s only so many monopoly games you can play). The house also only has electric heaters, and with it being minus temperatures outside it took 3 days to get the house reasonably warm. It’s also a very breezy house with a draft blowing throughout the majority of rooms and frustratingly the door to the living room does not have a handle and therefore would blow open every few minutes even with bits of furniture barricading the door. This meant it was really difficult to keep the only enclosed room warm. The front door is also not very practical for winter, it’s just an internal glass door with storm doors protecting it, again, didn’t do much for keeping the storm out. Again, lots of potential but sadly our stay wasn’t as enjoyable as we hoped.

• "The view was lovely, as were the neighbours."

  The cottage was comfortable and had most of what we needed. We were warned about the bathroom, but I didn’t like the floor which got quite wet when using the shower and the water didn’t drain from the shower tray which left you standing in dirty water. Yuck. A better mop would help. Overall we were happy with our stay.

• "We are a family of four (2 children aged 14 and 11) and we loved the cottage."

  Very cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked several times during the week and had everything we needed. Loved playing the games in the cottage as well as flicking though the books left there. Great that you can watch your own streaming services on the TV for a cosy night in. The location is great and the views are outstanding. We loved the community run pub in the village too and the neighbours are super friendly and helpful. The only thing I would have liked to be different would be the ability to move the twin beds further apart from one another.

  The property is comfortable till you need a shower we got there it was filthy dirty then the oven that’s another level not usable dirty is not the right word it happens t be we got to the property a bit earlier then expected and actually saw the cleaners going in the maximum time they were in there was 35 minutes not enough time to clean a house I do not recommend anyone going there

  Would have liked some instructions on using oven, microwave and w/machine. Would have been good to have had a couple of comfy chairs and an umbrella for the garden. None the less we had a wonderful week and the cottage was perfect for all the places we visited.

• "This is a lovely cottage in a very quiet location (rush hour seemed to be a couple of sheep walking past in the morning), and a great location for visiting other areas."

  Nothing is too far away. The cottage is fully equipped with all the basics you might need and more! We didn't use the open fire as there was only a couple of logs provided and we couldn't find anywhere easily to buy more while we were out but the cottage is nice and warm from the electric heating anyway, especially if you close the lounge door while you're relaxing in the evening. The bathroom is quite small and it's a bit tight to manoeuvre so may not be suited to anyone with mobility issues, but it is clean and nicely maintained. It was the perfect place for a break for two adults. I'm not sure it would be very well suited for small children as the stairs are quite tricky and the bathroom is downstairs but I'm sure older children would manage just fine. We would happily book this cottage again.

• "Couple of little touch’s from previously using Sykes Cottages which would be a nice addition at Preswylfa."

  Tea, coffee, milk and bread left for each guest Bigger towels One lot of wood and kindling made available for fire Overall all a lovely place and well situated for Zipworld, Portmerion and Portmadog which are all worth a visit, hence the good ratings.

• "What a beautifully renovated clean, cosy, well equipped old miner's cottage."

  Fabulous location (with lovely neighbours both sides) and spoilt for choice with activities and stunning views around every corner. This stunning property has everything you need and more. The most comfortable bed I've slept in too (and I rarely sleep well away from home). Would definitely return. Thanks to the owners for creating such a stunning holiday let!

• "This is a lovely well-equipped cottage with lots of nice touches like fleecy blankets and good books."

  The only think missing was a hairdryer. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to equip it nicely. Our only concerns about the cottage were the very steep stairs, which felt quite dangerous when popping down half-asleep in the night to visit the bathroom & I wondered if a rope banister might make them more secure? Also, to make the stairs safer we left a light on downstairs overnight but that meant the bedroom was too bright, so maybe a curtain or blind could be added for the stained glass window?
