  • "Perfect cottage for a short stay & had a lovely welcome package on arrival."

    Had every facility available; kitchen was very well stocked (was amazing to be able to wash & dry clothing). The bathroom had been upgraded & was really lovely. The property was stocked with books; games even umbrellas. Second bedroom was small but was advertised as such. I stayed in here with my youngest & slept perfectly well. Parking was not an issue. Yes, it’s a mild pain not to park directly outside but parking is available within close walking distance. Electrical issues were a worry from previous review, but this had been resolved & any tripping was easily rectified. I can’t thank the host any more. He was so helpful & we had a lovely stay.

  • "The facilities were not matching the rating the property was given on Sykes."

    This was an extremely poor property with poor facilities. We need to be compensated for such inaccurate advertising by Sykes. 1) There was not car parking available next to the house. The parking was on the road and was available on a first come first served basis and most of the residents took up the parking. This meant we had to park our car very far away from where we were staying. This was extremely inconvenient. 2) This was in no way a holiday cottage as advertised. The owner of the house stays in this house most of the time, so the house was full of all his personal items. Storage space was taken up by all the personal stuff of the owner. We had very limited storage space. 3) The cleaning of the property was very minimal. The sofa in the hall was full of dogs fur and I understand the owner of the house stays there with his dog. Unfortunately my kids are allergic to dogs fur and they have developed sneezing and allergies on their skin due to the unhygienic nature of the property. 4) The water and heating in the house was tripping all the time. This was brought to the attention of the owner. The owner said that he needed to do work on the house to solve the tripping issue. Unfortunately this tripping issue spoilt our holiday and we had to bathe in cold water and stay in a cold place many times during our stay. 5) The bunker beds in room 2 were very hard and small in height. Nobody could sleep on this bunker bed. My elder son was hitting his head on the bunker bed even if he sat on it.All 4 of us therefore had to sleep on a single bed as the bunker bed was unusable. We are relieved our nightmare at this property has come to an end.

    I'm sorry to hear this and very surprised you've given such a negative review as on leaving you left a voicemail saying thank you for an excellent stay in your fantastic place along with a nice message in the visitors book. The new bathroom and shower had just been completed, new electrics and fuse box. The day before you arrived a tripping issue occurred I arranged for an electrician to rectify the problem and assumed the issue had been resolved. However I received your voicemail regarding the trip and as I wasn't in the area I arranged for a friend to come to show you what to do if it occurred again. I then arrived at the property the next morning to check all was ok. You thanked me and assured me everything was fine. I did not hear from you again regrading any issues. The house was professionally cleaned as always and was spotless when you arrived. I thank you for leaving the property clean and everything in place. However I do not agree with your comments about your nightmare experience especially as on leaving you left a lovely voicemail and nice message in the visitors book. This doesn't add up.     Would recommend for two people, little cramped in second bedroom. But for the price very reasonable.

  • "The house was nice and clean and had everything you would need."

    Also, the owner was really understanding when my young daughter scraped one of the walls in the living room. There wasn’t much parking outside the property but there was plenty of available on road parking just five minutes up the road which was fine for us. Double yellow lines across the road which meant there was always space to load and unload the car. Really enjoyed our stay.

The fascinating old slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is situated in a superb position for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. There is a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The main local attractions include Zip World Slate caverns, the longest zip line in Europe and fastest in the world, this is a great underground adventure. The slate mines - where visitors can take enthralling underground trips to see mining as it was done in days gone by - and the famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog mountain railway which runs for 13 miles through the Snowdonia National Park to the harbour town of Porthmadog. Nearby is Portmeirion village, famous for its architecture and the film set of the cult TV series The Prisoner, plus local beaches, suitable for children, are within easy driving distance.
