  • "Best holiday cottage we have ever had."

Very comfortable and beautifully appointed. Owners, Alex and Viv, were very helpful and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. As the location was an AONB so we didn't need to travel far to be in lovely countryside. Weather was extremely hot during our stay so an added bonus was the large garden with stream where we could chill out under the trees after a long day out. Absolute bliss! We would highly recommend this property, and very much hope that we will be able to return in the not too distant future. Sheila and David

Thank you so much Sheila and David for such a fabulous review. We are very happy that you had such a wonderful stay at Bawbee Cottage and would love to see you both back in the future. Kind regards Viv & Alex Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely, relaxing holiday at Bawbee Cottage."

It is a clean, comfortable, spacious, well equipped place to stay. The weather was very good, ideal for walking everyday from the cottage. Alex and Viv provided very considerate welcome items and also marked out a path through the grounds for us to follow almost to the ‘old road’ to Bodfari to avoid the ‘A’ road. The ‘old road’ gave us access to the National Walking Trails and, of course, the lovely meals and sun terrace at the Dinorben Arms!

  • "Absolutely beautiful, perfect, idyllic countryside retreat."

We had a very quiet, relaxing stay at Bawbee Cottage. The cottage itself is stunning- modern but retaining its rustic charm. The grounds are just incredible. A huge garden, a stream and decking area-absolutely incredible. Beautiful views of surrounding countryside. The owners were very welcoming and kind, letting us borrow a ride on tractor for our toddler. We had a wonderful stay. I really cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Really hope to return one day.

Very spacious, lovely and quiet, had everything we needed for the week. The owners were very welcoming even though they weren’t around on our arrival by texting us to ensure all was ok. Will definitely be back again as this has been the best cottage we have stayed at.

  • "We had a great stay at Bawbee Cottage!"

Viv and Alex, the hosts, are a lovely couple - happy to help and stop by and have a chat. The grounds are huge, we took a badminton set etc for the kids (and us) to play and the owners came out and gave the kids a swingball game to play outside too! The only thing that could have improved our stay was the double beds - the mattresses were ultra soft and not great for bad backs. Kitchen was more than well stocked with cutlery and utensils and the bathroom was fab. Such a nice cottage with beautiful grounds, we would definitely stay again!

The cottage was ideal in every way, well equipped, well managed, well located and the owners clearly go out of their way to make this happen. Lovely people providing a very high standard of service and accommodation. The high service continued after we had left when we found out we had left items behind. It was all dealt with in a friendly and professional manner. Great Place to visit

  • "A fantastic cottage that is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean."

The pictures are completely accurate and we couldn’t fault anything! Lovely gardens with a stream to the river and terrace that is perfect for morning sun. The garden keeps sun until very late evening so you always have somewhere with sun or shade. The scent from the roses and colours from the peonies was heavenly - a place that has been given much love by the very friendly and approachable owners who also respect your privacy. The road caused us no problems at all and we slept well. Lots of great pubs with character within a 5-10 minute drive and the local pub in Bodfari walkable in 40 minutes. All facilities in Denbigh which is a 10 minute drive away. This was a great base to explore North Wales. Cannot recommend highly enough - we had a wonderful break. Thank you Viv and Alex - we hope to return and visit more of the area as we ran out of time!

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Bawbee Cottage."

This is a lovely recently renovated country cottage with well looked after grounds. We were lucky with the weather which enabled us to eat in the outside seating area. The cottage has a very homely feel about it, perfect for our relaxing weekend. Well equipped, comfortable every thing we wanted. We enjoyed the walks in the area with stunning views. We will definitely be returning to Bawbee for its location, comfort and value for money. Just to note (if eating out and require a taxi, book in advance- Bodfari Taxi's). We thought we could walk to the Dinorben Arms but the road is too busy to do that.

The property

This attractive, detached cottage rests in spacious grounds on the outskirts of the village of Bodfari, in the peaceful Vale of Clwyd.

Maintaining rustic charm while offering a selection of modern amenities, the property is well-equipped for a family holiday to this unspoilt part of Wales, anytime of year.

Accessed via a shared driveway to the owner’s home, the cottage enjoys a connecting woodland and large paddock.

As you step into this delightful dwelling you are welcomed into the hallway with tile effect flooring and a spot to leave your jacket and boots before exploring the ground floor.

Prepare family feasts in the beautifully presented kitchen, with granite surfaces and an electric Aga set in a stone chimney breast and a separate Aga companion cooker.

After a filling meal, curl up beside the fire in the sitting area, using this room to recharge after a day of exploring the area.

Head upstairs to find the three bedrooms, including the master bedroom with king-size bed and ample wardrobe space, along with a TV if you fancy a film before bed.

The remaining bedrooms consist of a second king-size and twin which would appeal to children, serviced by a large bathroom with a freestanding bath and walk-in shower, so you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the evening and a refreshing shower in the morning.

A summer barbecue can be enjoyed on the outdoor decking, set in large lawned grounds with a picturesque stream separating the owner’s garden.

The village of Bodfari has a quaint pub, which is approximately 1 mile from the property where you can enjoy excellent food and tasty appetisers, as well as extensive seating and surrounding views of the Vale of Clwydian, where a number of footpaths can be explored.

These walks include the challenging Offa's Dyke National Trail and the 15-mile trail, North Berwyn Way.

For a family get-together to North Wales, consider Bawbee Cottage as your place of residence.

About the location

BODFARI

Denbigh 4 miles; Mold 12 miles; Chester 25 miles.

The small village of Bodfari is peacefully located in the lovely Vale of Clwyd, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, beneath the imposing Clwydian Hill Range. Steeped in history, the village has taken on many roles, such as a Celtic camp in 500 BC and a Roman encampment, while the original Church of St Stephen pre-dates the Norman Conquest. Today, this pleasant village is home to a pottery gallery, whilst the surrounding area boasts a range of good country pubs and eateries. The Offa's Dyke Pathway is easily accessible and the ancient market town of Denbigh, with its celebrated 13th century castle and pretty streets littered with shops, pubs and restaurants, is just 4 miles away. Endless, beautiful countryside surrounds this lovely area, which offers excellent walking, cycling, fishing, and nature and bird watching opportunities. This is a wonderful base from which to explore the whole of North Wales and the Roman City of Chester.
