  • "Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment."

Not a big thing but we found the tv a little complicated to work would have preferred a simpler set up. My husband found the small single beds uncomfortable ideal for children not adults. Yes we would definitely come back and recommend. It was good we could get in touch with the owners because we had a problem with the tv and the husband came within the hour

Relaxing view from the bay window in living area. Well-equipped kitchen convenient for breakfasts and small meals. Master bedroom and bath very comfortable. Owner was very responsive and helpful for resolving small Wi-Fi issue. No issues with noise or neighbors. If climbing steps is ok, this flat is recommended!

  • "The front door was very hard to open and close and the residents of the flat below smoke in the passageway therefore the smell is offensive plus the stair carpet from the first floor down is not clean and smells of wet dogs."

The apartment it’s self was ok but Felt damp and cold when we arrived, maybe the heating should have been left on low to avoid this. Although the flat was clean and tidy it’s looks like it needs a spring clean and some of the bedding looks and feels passed it’s best. This did stop us from enjoying are three night break as Conwy and north Wales is breathtaking.

Hi Lynn, Thank you so much for your feedback. We value all feedback and are always looking to make improvements. It is unfortunate regarding the entrance hallway, the wrong colour carpet was installed and we are waiting for this to be replaced. We are supposed to have a cleaning rota with the other units but unfortunately it seems not all are following it, I will bring this up at the next tenants meeting. The hallway is being renovated this winter along with a nice new main front door as the current wood door swells with the rain and so becomes a little stiff. The building itself is a non smoking building and so as long as the other tenants/owners aren't smoking in the hallway itself, we are unable to stop them standing in the doorway as unfortunately as I am sure you can appreciate, it is a shared area. We can assure you that the apartment isn't damp, it may have felt a little cold as the heating is set on a timer to come on once in the morning, the afternoon and evening. We are unable to have the heating on all day, ready for guest arrival as guests arrive at different times, check in is from 3pm however some guests don't arrive until the evening, and so at this time with the cost of heating we are not in a position to heat an empty apartment all day, which I hope you can understand. The apartment heats up quickly once the heating comes on and we provide some free logs to get the fire going to make the lounge cosy. We do provide information on the heating in our guest book, so if guests wish they can adjust the heating to their liking, we just ask that it is set back on timer upon check out. Thank you for the comment regarding the flat being clean and tidy, we do take pride in our cleaning and have always had positive feedback in this regard, we feel we do a thorough job each change over, however in addition we have quarterly spring cleans. The Indian restaurant is great food and yes unfortunately doesn't serve alcohol, however there is a small newsagent opposite the restaurant which is handy, we just popped over there the last time we ate at the restaurant and as you say the restaurant will provide you glasses without any charge. We do hope that your experience of the apartment itself, with its central location, lovely views and cosy window seats was a good one and that you enjoyed the area. Thank you Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay!"

The apartment was first class! The entrance hall was awful it was dirty and the smell wasn’t very nice either! It couldn’t have been cleaned in months if not longer! I would also mention although you state the amount of stairs to the apartment you don’t say how steep they are, which I think you should!!

Hi Jacqueline, Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We value all feedback and are always looking to make improvements. It is unfortunate regarding the entrance hallway, we are supposed to have a cleaning rota with the other units but unfortunately it seems not all are following it. The hallway is due to be renovated this winter along with a nice new main front door, so we do hope you return to see it! Thank you Property Owner

The Castle Apartment is absolutely fantastic, we didn’t want to come home. Inside is immaculate, so cosy and welcoming, lots of added touches such as wine, chocolate and Welsh cakes on arrival. Milk in the fridge and bread, we honestly could not have asked for more. The window seats are amazing. It’s the perfect location to explore North Wales. Highly recommend Zip World and the train up to snowdonia. Conwy is a beautiful village. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

  • "The entrance hall and stairs doesn't inspire confidence but the apartment is a little gem and perfectly located."

Owners go above and beyond providing nice extras like wine and welsh cakes. Lots of emails from Sykes all providing timely and accurate and useful information. There is some discrepancy in the website literature which states a parking permit is available for client use but this is no longer available having been withdrawn by the owners (which they confirmed in advance through their own pre-visit email) Overall very good first experience of using Sykes and very satisfied with the accommodation.

Thank you, we value all feedback and endeavour to always improve our guest experience. We are glad to say that the hallway and stairs are booked in to have some much needed redecoration. Apologies with regards to the parking permit, we haven’t had the permit for over a year now as the local council withdrew them for holiday let’s. Sykes were informed to advise all guests and all information and literature is now updated. Property Owner

  • "The two single beds in the 2nd bedroom were quite uncomfortable."

You can tell they were old sprung mattresses, i could feel each individual spring in my back. The pillows were also very flat and old. The shower was also quite poor, temperature was fine but the pressure was terrible, had to stand right up against the wall to wash properly. Otherwise we were happy with the rest of the property which was elegant and well maintained.

We are sorry that you felt that the beds were uncomfortable, mattress comfort can be a very personal thing of preference however we can assure you that these mattress are less than 2 years old as they were brought when we purchased the property, maybe because they are hardly used is the reason they seem uncomfortable. Nevertheless we apologies for this inconvenience during your stay with us. Again the pillows are fairly new and we understand that pillows are something, that again is a personal preference and so we do offer a pillow menu with a variety of pillows available for your choosing; from duck feather to memory foam to ensure that all our guests have an option suited to their preference. Thank you for informing us about the shower, we will have someone take a look at it to see if we can improve the water pressure. We are glad that you found the apartment elegant and well maintained; we take great pride in ensuring that all our guests have an enjoyable stay with us and we hope to welcome you back again soon. • "We had hammering sawing loud music and shouting constantly from the apartment above which was being renovated by builders."

This went on from Monday to Friday 7.50 to 17.00, and on the Tuesday the builder started banging around at 5 am. I can't believe you have the audacity to send me this survey as I have contacted you twice about the noise, but you have not got back to me. I am now taking further action to obtain some redress from your company.

Dear Mr and Mrs Goodacre, I'm terribly sorry that you experienced this during your stay. I am glad that you contacted me directly as soon as it was an issue, so that I could address it with the owner and agree with him reasonable timings for the noisy works. It is unfortunate that the owner did not adhere to the agreement on that occasion and that you were rudely woken at 5am and for this I can only apologise again. Not that it helps you now after the issue but to let you know I did have a very strong exchange with the owner about that. As you can see from our feedback this is a one off case for us and something we take very seriously. I have informed Sykes to arrange a partial refund and they would contact you again to arrange this. I do hope you had a relaxed morning and enjoyed the breakfast I arranged for you at the Castle Hotel....I have never been but heard it's delicious! Again I am sorry that this caused you an inconvenience and affected your stay with us and we do hope that we can make it up to you again in the future. Thanks Paula Property Owner

Clean, comfortable and ideal location and layout for our needs. Nice little touches including milk, bread, toiletries and chocolates. The only surprise was the entrance to the flat which was dark (no downstairs light switch), damp and unpleasant smelling. It did let the place down a bit. But overall it was perfect for our weekend.

All pretty much what we expected from the description, so no surprises.. we'd definitely go back again. Pros: Conwy is a great little town.. lots of interesting places to visit, and you're right in the centre. There's an amazing bakery directly opposite the apartment.. cakes & pastries to die for. The double bed was super-comfortable, with a great choice of pillows (there's a "Pillow Menu"). Cons: 35+ steps up to the apartment, but great views once you're up there. TV reception terrible, especially in the evenings.. keeps breaking up and cutting out. Shower over batch is particularly weak.. the water struggles to reach the ground!

A lovely view of the estuary from rear bedroom , view of castle street from lounge / kitchen - perfect for people watching , in the window seat, as flat is two floors up ! Plenty of pubs/ cafes / restraurants / hotels for eating and drinking , a large Tesco half a mile away , and a Spar shop in the town , so evething you need within walking distance. We will hopefully be returning in the next year or so , maybe slightly later than early March , as a lot of the places to visit were still shut for the winter .

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
