The location is great with easy access to parking on the road. The rooms were cool with the cottage being at the perfect temperature to stay comfortably. The only small things that could be improved is the main door key entry is a bit fiddly and the garden could be improved to attract fewer insects.

! The owner, Gaynor, has thought of everything and expectations are far surpassed. Communication from the owner was fantastic, both pre and during our break. The cottage itself is fitted with a very modern sleek kitchen, whilst retaining its romantic cottage charm. The hot tub is great and a lovely way to spend an evening after a day of exploring Chester. 10/10 A+++++++

  • "The cottage was just perfect, the owner, Gaynor, contacted us before our stay to run through the details and let us know when it was ready."

The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need plus more, it was clean and beautifully presented. The hot tub was on my wish list and I’m so glad it was as it was amazing and the plus side is that the house isn’t overlooked at all so it was very private. My only regret is that we didn’t book a longer stay. The parking options are a little out of date and could do with updating on the website but having said that, we managed to find street parking so this wasn’t a problem at all. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we will hopefully be back in the future.

The hot tub was incredible, and wonderfully private, and the bed was deliciously comfortable. Gaynor was the best host and communication was excellent throughout. We felt so welcome, she left us a bottle of fizz and a postcard. It was immaculately clean. We loved how cosy it was and made the most of the log burner, hot tub and free standing bath. It's a short walk into Chester and even though it's not in the countryside where we usually book lodges, it feels so private and secluded and you have the option of shopping or going to the pubs in town. We didn't want to leave and will certainly be back at some point

Hot tub was great and although right on a main road it was completely private and outdoor seating made garden the perfect chill out area. 5 mins walk to nearby pubs and further 5mins to further bars and main shopping area. Nearby walks along river Dee and Chester zoo only 10mins by car so great location for everything. House really clean which was reassuring during current situation. Def recommend.

The cottage was exactly as described and was so lovely and cosy, even when the weather was wet we felt able to relax inside which was a bonus. The owner was fantastic with communication and all the little personal touches around the cottage added to the honely feel. Parking information was possibly a little out dated as the car park recommended for overnight parking seems to have changed the ticket machines and as such we couldn't find a way to park overnight without having to get up at 6.59am when the parking charges kicked back in, thankfully we always managed to park on the road so it wasn't a problem.

  • "An absolute gem of a cottage!"

Just about everything you could want for self-catering in the kitchen, from crockery to cutlery, to pots and pans. The island makes eating in the kitchen a must, as well as providing the luxury to sit down whilst cooking. A large size fridge and freezer means you have plenty of room to store fresh or frozen food at the right temperature. Those little must haves are in abundance - hooks on bathroom doors and by the hot tub to hang gowns and towels on, shelves in the shower cubicle to put requirements on, bedside tables, tables in sitting room for those relaxing drinks, etc. If anything is amiss, Gaynor is on hand almost immediately to put things right. She is also very open to receiving feedback as to how she could improve the cottage further. The hot tub in the sheltered garden is perfect and was well used. The cottage itself is on a busy road at times but within walking distance of Chester town centre, which can be reached by roadway or canal towpath. There is no carparking space with the cottage, but plenty of free, unrestricted parking on the road nearby. The position of the cottage does not detract from its suitability at a good price. We would definitely recommend a visit.

It is superbly located to walk into Chester to see all the sights (and in the lead up to Christmas with the Christmas market, Cathedral etc, it is a magical place to be!) The cottage itself is charming and extremely well furnished. The lounge is really cosy complete with Woodburner which we made use of, the kitchen is ultra modern and very well equipped, the huge bathroom is stunning and the bedroom is beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed. The hot tub was just the icing on the cake after a day out in Chester and it was fabulous to relax in it, gazing up at the stars on crisp cold nights. Perhaps what sets Elv cottage apart from other 5 star cottages is the owner, Gaynor. She was so accommodating with every aspect of our booking and nothing was too much trouble. About the location

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
