  • "Not a great experience."

After 6 hours driving and asking for an advice on finding the property we’ve been “welcomed” with aggression. I never met a person that was running a hospitality service making money out of holidaymakers, being so rude. The cottage was very cold, some walls damp, with wallpapers bulging and peeling off. The glorious garden and wonderful views won’t make up for everything else.

  • "Great stay at Aber Clwyd Manor Lovely old cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens."

We enjoyed relaxing on the terrace taking in the beautiful view. The cottage was bigger than expected and was clean and cosy. Weather was a bit mixed but it did not stop us visiting some lovely areas in North Wales. Our host's, Irene and Juliano, were excellent, very helpful and accommodating, really lovely people. Hope to see you again. Mick & Sue

  • "This is a pretty period cottage set in beautiful gardens and with wonderful views."

It is a historic property, traditionally furnished and largely single-glazed. The owners were most charming and helpful. I would have liked to have known in advance a) that some doorways involved ducking your head, hard to remember in the middle of the night and b) that the central heating is controlled from the owner's home. That said we would be happy to return as the area has so much of interest to offer and we were far from exhausting those possibilities.

The setting is absolutely stunning, views from every window were spectacular and the cottage had everything you needed and more. Plenty of room, very clean and cosy. The host Irene and Guiliano were so friendly and such lovely people and nothing was too much trouble, they were very helpful and accommodating. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, you can see how much work has gone into creating them. We would certainly have no hesitation on recommending this beautiful cottage and their lovely hosts. We are looking forward to visiting again. Tina & Paul.

  • "I have real mixed feelings about Aber Clwyd."

In some ways it's a wonderful cottage - it's got plenty of character, it's very spacious for a one-bed cottage, the property is very well equipped, it's surrounded by beautiful gardens, you can sit out on the patio and look out across the gardens to the other side of the valley, it's ideally located for exploring North Wales, it's very private, and the owners are a lovely couple. However, whilst downstairs stays cool in the Summer, upstairs is a different matter - be warned. We measured around 28 degrees every night when we went to bed (mid-June). We were so thankful that we had the foresight to bring a fan with us, but still struggled to sleep. You're up in the roof and the few windows there are don't let the heat out so it just builds. Also the bed wasn't the comfiest, a memory foam mattress but quite soft with roll together. Another problem was the lack of WiFi. There is an extender in the kitchen, but the password only worked with the owners hub. You could just about get 1.6mb if you stood in the right place in the kitchen, we had to use 4G. We brought this up a couple of times and was told that there was only the one password and it must be our devices. I doubt that two phones and two tablets had the same issue! So in summary, very mixed feelings, though we did have a brilliant week getting out and about.

The cottage had lot's of space to relax in with all the modern equipment you would need. It is situated in a good area to tour North Wales. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

The cottage is set in the owners' 4 acres of stunning gardens and it has breathtaking views from the terrace , reached from the patio doors in the lounge . It is very quaint, comfortable, clean and well equipped .Irene, the owner met us upon arrival and she was extremely helpful and accommodating. There are plenty of places to visit and we did lots of walking in Llangollen,Conwy ,Bala and Llandudno, all within an hours drive. We found an absolute gem of a Portuguese restaurant called 'Old Wives Tale' in Corwen,5 miles away and the food and ambience was so fantastic that we ate there twice. We had a lovely week at Aber Clwyd Manor and we would definitely recommend it .

There was no facility for drying clothes or towels. The cottage smelled damp and dank The wallpaper was peeling in numerous places and the bathroom facilities were extremely poor. The cottage is charming in a beautiful setting but urgently needs updating to make it more modern and acceptable in 2020

Many thanks for voicing your grievances regarding your stay at Aber Clwyd Manor. Customer feedback is very important to help us continually improve our standards. We have been informed by the property owner that spare bulbs are provided in the property, and upon further investigation there were two bulbs only which had blown - one in the wall lights and then one in the chandelier. There is a washing line in the garden and pegs provided within the property. No washing is to be dried within the property. The owner has never received a report in regards to a 'damp smell' within the cottage, however the property is extremely old - over 150 years old - and unfortunately this can sometimes occur in properties such as this. The wallpaper which was reported as 'peeling in numerous places' has been investigated further and also there were toiletries provided within the clean and tidy bathroom. We appreciate that the character of the cottage may not be for every guest, however we fully appreciate you taking the time to inform us of your feedback. Property Owner

Although Irene gave clear direction on how to find the location, I used the folllowing coordinates loaded in to Google Maps which took us to the front gate: 53.044362, -3.382358.
