  • "We had a fabulous stay , in a very relaxing and peaceful environment."

Credit goes to Bethan who was friendly, genuine and kind. It was a joy to be surrounded by the birds roaming free on the farm and living in an urban area, it was nice to enjoy somewhere rural.

  • "The property itself is superb with all the facilities you need (including a washing machine) which we used on a daily basis."

The king size bed was really comfortable and it was nice using the spare bathroom when required. The owner Bethan was really friendly and her Welsh cakes were so moorish. The only slight issue was the rear of the property which could have done with a slight tidy up but Bethan admitted it was an on going project as early in the season.. All in all, had a really chilled holiday and would return. P.S, The two extremely large Turkeys wondering around the front was good entertainment watching them strutting their stuff.

  • "Our every need was met by the cottage owner Bethan Jones."

On the few occasions we contacted her by phone she was most helpful and resolved our questions quickly with clear responses. The owner even provided complimentary milk, tea, sugar and bread for our arrival, so thoughtful, much appreciated. Our two young grandsons were so excited to see the various geese, hens and other wildfowl roaming freely in the working farm adjacent to our cottage. Very much “Far from the Madding Crowd” yet just 7/8 miles from the North Wales coast!

  • "Had a fantastic short break at Gelli Glud."

Lovely comfortable cottage with everything needed for a great stay. Enjoyed seeing all the various birds wandering round the yard chickens, ducks, geese, Guinea fowl and peacocks. Only downside was being woken up by the geese every few hours through the night but I am a restless sleeper anyway. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • "Wonderful! Bethan left us flowers, Cava and jam."

Her homemade Welsh cakes were amazing. The cottage was much bigger than expected and in a beautiful rural area but still close to Bodnant Gardens and Conwy. The shower was fab and the beds really comfy - with beautiful white bed linen. We loved the cats, geese, chickens, peacocks and Guinea fowl! Gelli Glud was such a find and we definitely recommend it :)

The cottage was pristine with gorgeous bedding. Helen made us cake and Welsh cakes which were still warm. The geese having a bath in the morning were hilarious, with all the cats around too. Just perfect, we were sad to leave .

Lovely hosts. On arrival there was milk, bread, welsh cakes and a bottle of wine. Need to like cats, chickens turkeys and ducks as roaming around but we do so that was all good. Lovely Comfortable big bed and great powerful shower. The host made us a lovely Victoria Sponge and welsh cakes (paid for them) Close to Boadant gardens, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. If one thing could be improved is the back garden made to look nicer, and could be made safe for the dog as we had to keep an eye on him. We would stay again and we had an enjoyable holiday. Thank you x

However we were very pleased with Gelli Glud. The clean cosy cottage with comfortable beds was ideal for our purpose. It is in a farmyard setting and we looked forward each day to the changing dynamic of the geese, hens, duck and cats and dogs. Geese were in charge making sure that peace reigned! Our little dog fitted in very well. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with so many narrow lanes to explore and places of interest to visit . We were met with friendliness both by Bethan and family and all the local people we encountered. The WiFi works well.

Every detail in terms of facilities has been thought of. Little sugar the kitten is simply adorable! Normally when I visit the cottages I take lots of my own kitchen equipment, I shouldn't have bothered here as Bethany has provided everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack is fabulous, especially the beautiful cake!! Situated away from the madding crowds this place is a little gem. Perfect for us to relax and unwind in, yet only 6 miles or so to some of the best castles, towns and beaches to be found anywhere. A joy to visit and we will definately return.

About the location

EGLWYSBACH

Conwy 8 miles; Llandudno 9 miles; Betws-y-Coed 12 miles.

The village of Eglwysbach is in the wonderful Conwy Valley, which is renowned for its beautiful countryside, scenic walks and the world famous Bodnant Gardens. Nearby Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is one of Britain's most unspoilt historic towns. A true medieval gem, the town is dominated by a splendid castle and completely enclosed by its well-preserved town walls - fortified with 21 towers and three gateways, the walls form an almost unbroken shield around the old town. There's plenty to enjoy in Conwy - the picturesque fishing harbour, National Trust's Aberconwy House, Britain's "smallest house" (worth an interesting, if quick, visit!) as well as the town's shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by are good beaches along the North Wales coast and excellent walking, mountain biking, canoeing, climbing and surfing in Snowdonia and the surrounding hills.
