The location is absolutely beautiful mountains waterfalls wildlife. We had a lovely break and would definitely recommend to people who enjoy peace and quiet not too far from civilisation if you want it. There is good internet but very poor mobile signal not at all on vodaphone I would recommend a sign to the property at the very top of the drive rather than on the gate…it is not an easy place to find especially in the dark as it is down well from the road.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in a lovely tranquil setting."

The weather was very cold during our stay, so not so much opportunity to sit in the garden and enjoy the view of the mountains. But it did mean we got full benefit of the log burning stove, which kept the place toasty morning & night. Excellent facilities provided. Plenty of good walks right on the doorstep, so good to not have to drive far, if at all, for a day out. Good local facilities in Betws-y-Coed. Only suggestion would be to add a colander to the kitchen equipment. Highly recommended.

  • "Cottage is in a quiet picturesque area and only few mins drive into Betws-Y-Coed."

And 20 ish minutes to snowdon. Full facilities in the cottage even down to a USB plug. Main bedroom has a double bed & a wardrobe, and is a good sized room, just ashame the smaller room is a little cramped with a single bed & bunk bed plus 1 x wardrobe. Ok for 3 kids but not if it's a group of adults! Also got a washing machine & tumble dryer. Ample parking on own private grounds. The cottage is very clean apart from a lot of cobwebs & skinny long legged spiders in missed places, maybe its due to what the country side has to offer and wet weather. Nothing a long handled feather duster couldn't fix. Oh the cooker no instructions to be found but to use the cooker, it's the icon with the = 2 lines, and heat for a good 15 mins then your good to cook. I'd definitely recommend this property if your looking for a quiet location & dog friendly. Lovely friendly owners, and only a phone call away if you need them for anything.

There is a stunning view of Moel Siobod from the garden which feels very peaceful and sheltered. We didn't need the wood burning stove, but I imagine it's quite a feature and belts out the heat when it's cold. It's only a 20 minute walk up to the café at Ty Hyll (the Ugly House) on the A5 where they do some cracking snacks (the Welsh cakes are particularly recommended). It's a slightly longer walk the other way to the hotel/pubs in Capel Curig. A great spot for exploring Snowdonia with easy access to the main roads or walks straight from the door. Beware of the drainage ditches along the lane though!

I discounted this as some people can get very fussy about this (I am not one of them). However, this was also our experience. In particular, the large rug in the sitting area had not been hoovered and was filthy, the kitchen sink and bath were not clean, I didn't want to use the frying pan and oven trays because of their condition and the kitchen table had not been wiped down which, given the current C-19 situation, is frankly unacceptable. Separately, the kitchen was not well equipped which is unusual for a Sykes property. In particular, there was only one frying pan (discinclined to use), a sieve that was too small for a larger group (and had a hole in it) and no salad bowl.

On the day after our arrival the area had tremendous floods and Mr Williams, the owner, kindly paid us a visit to ensure we were coping in the inclement weather and to assure us that he was available if we needed anything. Nice personal touch. One potential issue for people not used to lighting a wood burner is that unless this is lit the living area relies on two electric heaters which might not be warm enough in the depths of winter. We were fine but we needed to replenish wood stocks from the nearby village, Betws-y-Coed, after a couple of days. The cottage was delightful and the secluded location perfect for those looking for peace, quiet and tranquillity. Really off the beaten track but only a mile from the main A5. Only neighbours were sheep just over the wall and the spectacular snowy owl that we saw flying through the woods opposite the cottage on the final evening. As keen walkers we enjoyed a range of local walks from the door, including Moel Siabod (recommended if you like the high Fells of the Lake District), over the hill above the A5 to two picturesque lakes (Crafnant and Geirionydd), the tracks to Dolwyddelan and Betws-y-Coed and a ten minute drive to access the Pyg and Miners' tracks up Snowdon. We also had a day exploring the unbeatable open sands and dunes south of Harlech. An amazing week and can't wait to return - hiraeth i'm wlad.
