  • "We had a lovely stay at the Mill House."

The house was comfortable for 3 families and is well equipped. The garden was perfect for the children and dogs to run around in. We will be back!

  • "A clean and roomy property suiting our family party of 12."

A spacious garden which the grandchildren enjoyed. Tiled and wooden floorings were helpful for our pet dog. A well located property in the Dee valley with local walks and in the village of Carrog with a friendly pub. Our family really enjoyed their stay. Thank you.

  • "There were 6 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs in our party."

The property was the perfect size for us and the large garden was great for playing games. The property is well equipped with ample cutlery and crockery and well furnished. Although it was not noted in the information from Sykes there is a Barbeque which we did use. Whilst we were able to get programmes for the kids on TV we could not work out how to get live TV but this was not a real issue for us. The address information did not give the correct location on all satnav systems. It is noted as "Dairy Farms" on Google maps. Using "what3words" the address to use is "picture.promising.arching" which takes you to the gate. The purpose of our trip was for some of us to go on Velocity 2 at Penrhyn Quarry and to visit Portmeirion which were just over 1 hr away and both are unmissable. As a bonus the weather was perfect all the time we were there.

Lots of room for everyone to spread out or come together for games. Alison is a lovely lady and is always there to help with any issues. The garden is a wonderful asset the dogs and 2 year old great grandson had a wonderful time in it whether it was torrential rain or sunshine! Highly recommend

  • "In a beautiful location."

Very well equipped property inside but outside area could do with a little TLC, only a little though eg Paintwork on the outside of the property, tidy up on the outskirts of the land. Saying that we had a perfect family 80th birthday celebration and were able to use the grounds for our games etc. as the weather was great also. Would certainly book this property again.

  • "Large comfortable detached property with good outside seating areas and garden; nice views to hills; quiet."

Spacious rooms downstairs; bedroom space for our party of 6 adults and 5 children, including adapted ensuite on ,ground floor which we appreciated. (But lacked a toilet brush). Adequate kitchen with attached breakfast area which can be hot when sunny. Good location with interesting sites to visit and outdoor facilities such as swimming and paddle-boarding in nearby river. Shops and restaurants nearby in Llangollen, including an excellent wine shop.

  • "It was difficult for us and our families to find."

The instructions on the Sykes website are inaccurate. A sign at the end of the road needs to be reinstated as per the website. The garden area was fabulous for our grandchildren and dog. The area was beautiful and there was plenty to do nearby. We reported to your very helpful caretaker, Alison, that our shower door was leaky. She and her friend Annette are helpful and conscientious.

  • "A beautiful, clean and well furnished cottage with a huge garden."

Our family party of 10 ranging from 18 months to 98 years all had a fabulous stay. The house was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm and welcoming when we returned from a days exploring and the garden was much enjoyed for games of frisbee. The local pub has good beer and food and we had pre- booked a table as we were a large party. Ideal area for walking and visiting nearby Corwen. Chirk castle is definitely worth a visit. We plan to book Mill House again next year

  • "It's the 3rd time my family and I have been to the cottage and we have a really good time."

The location is great and the huge field is brilliant for the kids and dogs. There are enough rooms to meet our needs too. However, in the 3 years we have noticed nothing has really been done to the place. We think it could use a bit of TLC. We have already searched to go back next year and it has gone up by £500 and we are getting to the point of thinking if it is worth it now and we'll probably look to go elsewhere.

  • "The Millhouse is an amazing property with a nice lawn big enough to drive a car around."

The cottage was well occupied with all the necessary furniture, white goods, and items like BBQ, wood burner. There is an outside dining area and also a nice conservatory. It is in a very nice location, excellent for local exploration and also very near the river Dee. My only negative comment is regarding cleanliness, the property could have been cleaned a bit more, the carpets were bit dusty and the cobwebs were not removed fully. I highly recommend this property for a group of 10-12 people.

  • "Overall the holiday was wonderful."

The property however is really in need of updating and a proper clean in particular the bathrooms and toilets which are badly stained (black grouting etc_) BBQ could not be used as it was filthy from last family who let the house, furniture in the garden was damaged/chairs etc.. Apart from this the house is great, but the lack of cleanliness was a let down. Just really needs some TLC. Thanks

  • "Unfortunately, my wife & I were unable to join our relatives for this holiday because I was diagnosed s having cancer."

However our friends tell us that they were somewhat disappointed over the rather tired look of the property & in particular were irritated by the lack of hooks & shelves in the en suites. As a group we have had cottage holidays for over 10 years & only had to complain once before so this whinge is not typical! We always select 4 or 5 star properties so while there were good points about the cottage these relatively minor omissions were as I say didappointing & not what we epect from Sykes Cottages. • "This review should be read in conjunction with "The Dairy" feedback as we rented both properties for our family get-together."

Although this was the first time we have used Mill House for the number of people staying the kitchen was extremely small. The gardens, wooden furniture excluding, were magnificent for all but especially the youngsters and as we were blessed with wonderful weather it made up for some of the niggles. As with The Dairy the comments regarding towels and garden furniture also apply here. Indeed some of the garden furniture was broken and unusable. There was also a problem with one double bed which had an old spring frame base which was very noisy. My sister and brother in law had to put the mattress on the floor to get a decent night's sleep. This was reported to the caretaker on departure. WiFi access in both properties was intermittent.
