  • "Had a wonderful stay at 3 Eaton Mews."

My first visit to Chester. The property was in a perfect position, only a short 15 minute stroll into the town across the river. Accommodation was of high quality and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Having a parking space was a bonus too. So much to see and do in Chester. I would recommend the Et Alia Italian restaurant located on the river, wonderful food. Also the Cheshire Cat for Sunday lunch and a walk along the canal afterwards. Would also highly recommend a visit to the Llangollen Canal Walk in Wales, only a 30 minute drive away and also a day trip to Liverpool on the train, 40 minutes from Chester. Can’t wait to visit again and stay at this lovely property.

Hello Julie. Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at no 3 and that you had fun exploring our wonderful city. We do try our best to provide a comfortable house full of everything you might need for your holiday. Hope to see you return sometime soon. Best regards Pete Property Owner

  • "Recently spent a brilliant week in Chester staying at 3 Eaton Mews."

We were contacted by the owners the day before we were due to arrive with additional information about how to access the property and where to find information etc. on arrival. This is something that has never happened at any other Sykes property we have stayed at. So thank you very much for taking the time it was very much appreciated. The property was really lovely, spotlessly clean with a well appointed kitchen / diner with quality modern appliances, there was also a comprehensive selection of cooking utensils for anyone who is self catering. The lounge was comfortably furnished with a massive TV and a log burner in addition to central heating. There is an upstairs bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle as well as a downstairs cloakroom and toilet all spotlessly clean. At the rear of the property is a lovely seating area in the garden with plenty of patio furniture and a barbecue weather permitting. The property was situated in a quiet area a few minutes stroll from the Old Dee bridge and the entrance through the Roman wall into the City centre with all its history. In summary a lovely property, in a lovely location with off-road parking at the rear of the property a welcome bonus in a place like Chester. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for your review Terrence. Pleased to hear that the house met with your expectations and that you enjoyed discovering our wonderful city Property Owner

  • "My wife and I arranged this holiday to celebrate our 56th wedding anniversary and we are so pleased that we chose this property."

The facilities and information provided for the stay could not be faulted. Reviews regarding the kitchen were spot on (i.e. excellent, relaxing space with a very pleasant view to the garden). The garden, although compact, was a lovely space to sit in but, unfortunately, we didn't have the weather to enjoy it. The property was perfectly situated for access to Chester (10 to 15 min walk) but, if you couldn't walk a great distance, at the end of the road, there was a bus stop into Chester. Unfortunately, we had a mishap (of our own making) during the stay and the Sykes head office staff (in Chester) were more than helpful. Many thanks to Martin for showing us the way back to the house and the other staff members (sorry, but we are unsure of their names) who gave us coffee and contacted the necessary people to help us (i.e. Julie who attended at short notice). We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Handbridge (a warm, clean and very friendly pub) and there are more than enough cafe/restaurants in Chester where we ate each day. Chester is an lovely city to visit and the Cathedral was unbelievable (whether religious or not, the building was incredible). Should we visit again, we would definitely use this property, and also recommend it to anyone visiting Chester. Thank you fall for helping make good memories on our wedding anniversary.

Thank you for your kind comments John Very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Chester and that you found my house meet all of your needs. Despite the weather and your little mishap. It’s a shame you didn’t call me as soon as it happened, as I would have been able to mobilise Julie a lot sooner without you needing to visit Sykes head office. All that remains is for me to wish you and the wife a belated happy anniversary. Hope you make it up to Chester again sometime Best regards Pete Property Owner

  • "Second visit to this property, we love it, park up, unpack then just a 15 min walk into Chester city centre, can’t beat it."

House is well furnished, everything you need if cooking, not tested outside amenities as time of year we visit it’s too cold. Lots of nearby walks to suit all levels, city wall walk ideal especially if you want a coffee/ice cream on way round. Would definitely recommend.

Hello Duncan, sorry it’s taken so long to respond to your feedback. It’s great to hear that you enjoy staying at my place, it’s a fabulous location for walking into the city and you are not kidding, coffee shops galore in Chester. Hope to see you back here for a third time soon. Thanks again Best regards Pete Property Owner

  • "Lovely property - a lot of furniture has been replaced since the photos in the living room."

We found it very comfortable, but some areas of cleaning could be better (e.g. the rug in the living room needed a good vacuum). Thanks for the log burner supplies, we bought additional kindling and logs as we used it most evenings, although the property is warm enough with central heating! Great location for walking into Chester, but a decent Coop a 5 min walk away for essentials. Enjoyed a boat trip on the R Dee, and good browse round Chester. Deva is great for kids (or big kids) and liked the Cathedral and Grosvenor museum. Port Sunlight is a really interesting day out - recommend the 90 min walking tour if the weather is dry! We did have an issue with the shower the first morning, but the owner responded and advised how to resolve it - no further problems with it the rest of our stay - thank you!

  • "A great property in a fantastic location."

The house was very clean and comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. The kitchen space was excellent and it was lovely to eat breakfast looking out to the pretty garden. The location was great for exploring Chester on foot. Just a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area. There is a well stocked Co-op a few minutes from the house and The Handbridge pub had lovely food. The only slight downside for us was the parking, as the space for the house is quite tight. We have an estate car and when we were parked, the neighbour couldn't get her car into her space. She was really nice about it, but it made us feel a bit awkward. If you have a smaller car, this probably wouldn't be an issue and having a dedicated parking spot is a great asset in Chester, as many places don't.

Thanks very much for your feedback Caroline. Very pleased to hear that you very much liked the house and the location. I was sorry to hear of your parking issue, my space is only 5m long so it’s perfectly adequate for most cars. There are an additional 5 spaces just to the right and you could have used one of those Thanks again Cheers Pete Property Owner

  • "The house was lovely and in a great location within easy walking distance from the centre of Chester and all the attractions it has to offer."

There were some lovely bars and restaurants very close to the property. The house itself was spotless and finished to a very high standard with everything that you would require to feel right at home. The kitchen looked brand new with quality appliances and the wi-fi and 55 inch TV provided us with all the entertainment needed for the longer nights. The seating area outside the house was also very comfortable, providing a nice place to relax and was very private, especially considering it was a mid-terraced house. We even enjoyed some apples freshly picked from the tree! We really enjoyed our stay here and we wouldn't hesitate to return if we were back in this area.

The small garden was absolutely beautiful, and it was lovely to be able to open the double patio doors to get the full benefit of it whilst sitting in comfortable chairs just inside. Location wise, we thought it was ideal for us. Plenty to see and do and some lovely walks locally. This was possibly the first holiday where we parked the car on arrival and never used it again until we left.

About the location

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
