  • "Just spent a lovely week at Gwelfor with our daughter and our 4 dogs."

Fantastic location for the beach and coastal walks. The property is a little tired in places, but clean and comfortable. Great enclosed garden for the dogs with a fab hot tub to relax in after being out on the beach. Contact with the hosts DJ & Lee was great. Would definitely recommend.

So pleased to read that you had a great time at Gwelfor and would definitely recommend. We do have an upgrade plan for January 2025 which is the first opportunity for us to get this lovely home back and implement some of the upgrades we have been wanting to make. Property Owner

Only complaints would be lack of of an info/welcome pack, not many tea towels and no oven gloves!

Thank you for your feedback. We were so pleased to read that you found our home in a good location and that you also found that it was comfortable. We are rethinking our approach to welcome packs which were removed post-covid. All our appliances and facilities are really easy to use which kid of made the books redundant. We are also at the end of a telephone should any help be needed. even though this is a self catering accommodation, we provide two tea towels but over gloves are a preference and hence why we do not include them. Lovely footpath leading to the beach starting a few minutes from the front door which was ideal for our great granddaughter to enjoy. We loved the beaches we visited as did the dogs of course plus the wonderful views and lunch in the cafe at South Stack which was excellent. The hot tub was relaxing after a busy day . We will book again , Erica

Our home is ideally located for the coastal path with its breath-taking scenery and very close proximity to the wonderful Cemeas Beach. A great place for all the family to stay, and can even be altered to a 4 bedroom accommodation to facilitate narky teenagers! ☺️ We’ve rebooked for next year, with the promise off the owner, that a small alteration to the garden will be made to suit the needs of our family, and future families that may arrive. I’d highly recommend this property.

Thank you for your lovely comments and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Gwelfor. We so look forward to welcoming you back next time!! The (what should be a 4th bedroom, and we originally put a dining table in there because of the views) is now a 'snug' with corner sofa and TV. We never thought of it as a great space for the 'teenagers' but so pleased that you found a good use for it during your stay. Thanks for your extremely helpful comments about the garden which we have already actioned. Property Owner

Lovely hot tub. Safe garden for dogs. Couple of minutes walk to beach, shops, pub so very good location.

Thanks Lyn for your comments. As will have been discussed, we have a policy of not allowing any waste to go to landfill. The black bin at the front of the property takes all waste and we collect this weekly or more frequently if needed. As we have several homes, we then take this to our central bins where our contractor collects all the wate and turns it into something which can be used again :-) Property Owner

!! The house has all that you can need and is well equipped, is modern in its decorations, has good quality bed linens ensuring a great nights sleep, a nice enclosed garden which was great for the dog to roam around in, a secluded hot tub and is set in a secluded cul-de-sac. Friendly owners who were contactable if needed. However, the house requires a little TLC in the painting and decoration sense, floorings which need replacing and the hot tub lid needs repairing. The twinkly lights in the tree in the garden do not work - its the little things, that make it rough round the edges. Sorted out, this house would be perfect, it is a great party pad. We would return as the location is sublime!!!!

On arrival it was spotless, with hand sanitiser and hand wash provided. The décor is lovely, and the beds, sofa, chair are all very comfortable. Huge smart tv in the living room with Netflix and sky. Wi-Fi was great with no issues. Kitchen is probably one of the best equipped we've had in a self catering property, literally everything you could need was provided. The pans and cooking trays were all spotless. We only cooked on the first night, as we ate out the rest of the time but its got everything for a full self catering holiday, along with a coffee machine and plenty of cutlery, plates etc. Bedrooms all very comfortable, the downstairs bedroom was ideal for my Mum who has mobility issues due to her knees. The are a few steps outside the front door (which we knew when booking) which were a bit steep for my mum but she managed for the week. Garden is also a good size and fully secure for dogs, so we were able to open the door and let our dog explore without having to worry about her getting out. However, there are couple of things that we feel need attention. There are no external wheelie bins for rubbish or recycling, so we had to leave black bins bags tied up next to the garden shed. The property has an open fire, but no wood or matches provided. Given the rental premium, initial starter logs, kindling, firelighters, matches etc. should be provided and then customers left to purchase anything extra. The property needs a visitor information book/folder about the property and surrounding area for those visitors who may not know the island as well as we do. There were plenty of large bath towels, but only one hand towel provided. Luckily we'd taken a couple with us just in case, but again these are small issues that are easy to resolve for the owners. We would stress that these are not criticisms; they would not stop us from booking the property again, but would increase the value for money experience. Also the key collection details are incorrect and need to be updated, the email stated there is a key safe; however, that is not correct. One of the helpful owners rang us, just as were were arriving to let us know.

Generally the quality of facilities was high and the hot tub was fabulous. The only negative aspect was the cost- it did feel overpriced for the location, however I suspect that was due to increased demand because of the pandemic.

Thanks for your kind feedback. Delighted you enjoyed the cottage and the quality of our facilities. Owners have very limited input into the pricing of our home. However, we can see that your booking was made reasonably close to the date of arrival which, just like airline travel, can impact cost. Cemaes Bay has always been a popular destination and the pandemic has led to increased visitor traffic. Property Owner

It starts with a super hallway leading into the sitting room which has plenty of comfortable seating, including a swivel (cuddle) armchair.

The woodburning stove is placed inside an attractive white brick enclosure, ideal for cosy nights in front of the TV.

The lounge has a light decor, with splashes of colourful artwork, cushions and the rug, giving this cottage a wealth of character.

With French doors leading out to the garden.

Step into the spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, which has kept the minimal decor style with its grey cabinets and units and a white granite worktop.

The room has many modern touches including under counter lighting, and a large breakfast bar, which doubles as the dining table and chairs.

A wonderful place to dine in the evenings with the whole family. Near the front door you will find a lovely ground floor king-size bedroom, with plenty of storage space in the wardrobe and bedside tables.

There is a ground floor WC and wash hand basin.

Upstairs you will find two further king-size bedrooms, with magnificent views over the surrounding rooftops, rolling hills and the distant seaside.

The third bedroom has a lovely set of wall-to-wall built-in wardrobes with the doors doubling as full-length mirrors.

Hidden inside this unit is a TV.

The first floor is also home to a second dining area with seating for up to four people and sea views.

A great place to pull up one of the barstools and sip on a cocktail whilst taking in the view.

There is a separate family bathroom with fantastic modern fittings, which include a bath and shower over.

Outside has a large patio area with furniture provided, including a luxurious hot tub.

There are three steps leading up to a lawned garden area with plenty of shrubbery surrounding, making it a fairly private, enclosed space and ideal for the kids or pets to run around and play.

There is off-road parking available for two cars and parking in the road is also permitted.

Cemaes Bay is home to a number of local attractions, including Cemlyn Bay and lagoon.

Separated from the bay by a shingle beach is a brackish lagoon, which is fed by a number of small streams, and makes for wonderful sightseeing opportunities.

Cemaes also has a lovely sandy beach.

Cited as a scheduled monument, Porth Wen Brickworks was a Victorian brickworks which produced fire bricks, made from quartzite and was used to line steel-making furnaces.

It has now been abandoned but there are still several buildings present with remains of some of the machinery and makes for a fascinating sight.

32 Gwelfor is an excellent modernised cottage in the heart of Anglesey (3 minutes from the centre of the village) but nestling in the countryside.
